hawes is a bitter-sweet player to have

he is horrible on the defensive side and lacks the bulk to bang in there at the same time he has a great if not the best court vision for a bigman out there.. and when on his jumper draws the beasties down low open for the likes of evans and jt to score or draw the offensive rebound

we have seen this before when Webber came back from injury in 2004
Is this really the same? Webber wasn't the same player when he came back but he thought he was. Martin seems like his old self. Also, before Webber came back the Kings were playing great, they had the best record in the league if I remember correctly. The current Kings have been playing lousy for the last 10 or so games. They could have easily lost this game whether or not Kevin came back.

coach westphal may have had some mistakes in the lineup but the last thing we want to do is turn on the guy who tries to develop these young guys.. believe me he is NOT paid enough to salvage the team that muss-theus-natt have left him. let us be reminded that this is a young team. and they are on their way to being better. not this year but who knows in the next.

1) Casspi took 6 shots and was not involved offensively. Reason? Kevin is back and Omri has been knocked down the food chain.
2) Beno took 7 shots and was passive off the bench? Reason deferring to Kevin.
3) Donte got no minutes. Reason? Kevin took them.

These are very obvious.

Now questionable one was: Reke = shaky. Reason: ? At the beginning of the season Kevin was a major problem foir him, because he deferred too much asd was passive. This game? Not sure. May have been gameplacn. May have been being back home. May have been a number of things. Need to see more.

As an aside, Jason's game had little to do with Kevin, but in the third in particular Spencer did benefit from his presence, and specifically something that we are not likely to see often -- them having to double Kevin because Iverson can't guard anyone. Specner was the guy they doubled off of.
I'll buy Udrih and Casspi, although I thought Beno played alright. I agree Greene should have gotten more minutes, Im one of his biggest supporters, but I'll blame that one on Wesphal before I blame Martin. Udoka got 12 minutes, Nocioni got 6, Greene got 2. You put them all together and if Westphal wanted ( and should have ) he could have played Greene for 20 minutes tonight, But he didnt. I dont know why either, it seems like Greene would have been our best bet defensively on Iggy and Young.

I still think this can work. It wouldnt surprise me if it didnt, And if we traded Martin tomorrow I could care less as long as we got enough back. Im just not ready to blame this one on Kmarts return. The Kings, as a team, have been playing bad. Call it chemistry, call it a slump, but aside from the two wins against Denver, We have been playing bad ... and that was before Martin came back.

Well, they certainly haven't been playing well since the Chicago win. They've lost 9 of 11. If the Kings have played with good chemistry over that stretch then it hasn't netted them much. It is certainly an indisputable fact that the Kings have lost many games recently.

Blame the Lakers (twice), Cavs, Magic, and Mavericks. Chemistry isn't a real problem.

Out of all the teams in the NBA, the Kings are one of the teams that really need to make some moves before the trade deadline.

I couldn't agree more! And the move they need to make is at Center. Spencer Hawes just isn't ready for prime time. He needs 2-3 years more to mature. He would be a senior in college right now if not for being drafted after his freshman year out of college. It is just too obvious that he isn't ready. Spencer isn't a starter. He isn't a bench player either. He is a project. Hopefully one day he will develop into a serviceable center but it is way too early now. He physically is underdeveloped and weak compared to mature centers in the NBA. He gets pushed around and has no hope against other centers in the league. He cant rebound, he cant shoot, and he cant defend because he is weak.

The Kings need to desperately pick up a center that can defend the rim and rebound. We dont need an all star scoring center. We need a center that doesn't get run down like a deer in the headlights. There are plenty of possibilities for Geoff Petrie and I am sure that he will make a move to shore up our front court. JT will become a good power forward eventually, but he is older than Hawes. The Kings just need a good center desperately! I have watched Spencer Hawes get run down too many times to believe he will develop a backbone overnight. He needs to get a good trainer and work out for at least 2 more years to compete in the NBA. Upper and Lower body. Hawes is a stick. He has the arms of a 12 year old boy. Have you seen him try to back players down? Guards hold their ground against Spencer!

Yes, those overtime and buzzer beating losses to championship contenders are always a sure sign of terrible chemistry for young teams.

Maybe I am misinterpreting the comment from Piksi about chemistry being hard to create and easy to disrupt. I took it to mean that the Kings lost this game because Kevin Martin disrupted the team chemistry. I may have been wrong when I said that the Kings have had poor chemistry recently but I was not wrong when I said they have played poorly lately. I guess you are saying that a team can lose games but still have good chemistry. My point is that with the way the Kings have been playing lately they certainly could have lost the game with or without Kevin Martin. There is obviously no way to prove that assertion.

We lost to the sixers without Martin and we lost to them again with Martin. Does that help anybody? lol Brockman will indeed rock! Thats all he knows how to do baby! We're number 17! We're number 17! We're number 17! We're number 17!

You could argue the same for Evans since he didn't play in Sacramento against the Sixers either

Bricklayer -- so theres 18 mins for noc and Udoka but only 2 for Greene?

20 mpg should be fine for green, Udoka just needs to be pushed out the rotation and Nocioni needs to be traded

but when Cisco gets back, the problem is going to be severe. Thats why I think we get rid of Noc and Udrih(his value is up now) if we can

Noc has been playing like **** lately. Over the past month, I would say he has been the biggest disappointment on the roster. The problem is, we have to play him to get something even approaching equal value in return. I don't want Noc taking any time from Donte on the court. Objectively speaking, Donte deserves any minutes Noc gets. Donte has been the better player as of late. But, if we are going to move Noc by the deadline, we have to play him.
Ime however, is a bargain. I wouldn't mind keeping him around in case of an injury given his contact in pretty cheap. But just like Noc, Donte deserves playing time over both, and it should be a priority. So much of this game is confidence. I think it is much more important for the development of the team, as well as Donte, that he remains a consistent part of the rotation. Combine that with the fact that Donte is 8 years younger than Noc, and has a higher ceiling talent-wise, I can't come up with an excuse for not playing him. He doesn't need 30+ mins a game, and his inconsistency probably doesn't deserve 30+ mins, but he needs to be a regular part of the rotation at the very least.
