Some Notes - Kings getting closer to winning close games

Freethrows - bad need practice 9/19
Turnovers - came in critical times
Clutch - We are not
Offense - Too stagnant with Sergio running point

Sorry I thought our offense becomes too stagnant with TYREKE running the point(according to which member on the board you talk to)... I thought Beno and Sergio engaged our offense much better???!!

The truth is, all the PG's do it. And sometimes it's not even their fault it's the rest of the team MOVING around which they just stop doing a lot of the times. Poor execution when they don't have the ball has to improve.

Westphal needs to trap the players in a gym for 48 hours to do nothing but shoot free throws. I can honestly say I can hit 70% of my free throws, if it was my job where I was getting paid millions, I'd make sure that % would be higher.

It's not taking over unless we win in my mind. Wade took over... Tyreke tried but couldn't finish. I don't blame him though because like you said he scored 9 straight points. Its everyone elses fault for not stepping it up, at least from the FT line.
It is taking over IMO. Reke was untouchable.

I know some of you don't want to here this right now, or will even be receptive to it, but we're getting closer. No one on this team gave up. No one thought we were going to lose this game. Huge difference from the last 3 years. It takes a little while to learn how to close out games. But when a few fans here thought the game was over with 3 min left, they stormed back. We're improving. It just hasn't translated to wins on the road.

And Noc, does not suck. If we're in the same situation tomorrow night, I would feel comfortable with him at the line.

This is the type of game that will help our team mature and grow.
NO got Paul and Peja back but they did not win the easily.

PLEASE BEAR IN MIND, WE WERE CELLAR DWELLERS LAST SEASON!!!
DON'T EXPECT TOO MUCH ON THE WINS. ITS THE LEARNING THAT WILL COUNT THE MOST FOR THIS TEAM FOR THIS SEASON.

pretty much..this is why I'm mad right now..VF is just being a homer with blinders on who needs to quit being naive.

Keep it about the topic at hand and you're gonna do fine. Start making it personal and you're violating the rules.

Complain all you want. Losses are hard to take anytime. I for one am thrilled with the way our guys are playing. After last year, I am happy to watch this young exciting team (with a real coach).

Our FT % sucked. No doubt about it. I am not hung up on wins and losses. If I can have this much fun watching basketball again, well......I gotta love it.

Our guys played well enough to win this road game. But, they came up short. Well boo hoo. Life is not over. They will continue to improve. Imagine what Evans will be like in his prime.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!!

That depends entirely on how he is playing that night... if he is sucking it up like he did tonight, then no. I'm not comfortable with him at the line. He didn't choose to go up their tonight but he should have made the shot. The funny thing was he almost made the second shot where he was trying his hardest NOT to make it. For being our veteran player he gets nervous like a rookie. Do any of you remember his 5 foot away airball shot last year and then 30 seconds later a ridiculous wide up lay up miss? I like him as a player, and he is important to our team... but not my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th choice as a clutch player.

God if Reke would have just made that layup. Im sooooo sad right now lol im going to the gym to take my frustration out.

I would be curious to know how many of the guys who are constantly crying and are unable to see the positive sides of what the kings are doing have been fans for a long time?

Even though we are losing now, we are being competitive every game. Such a big improvement from last year, and the years before Webber where the main excitement came from watching whatever Star the kings were playing. Hard to get down on this team when things could be so very much worse and are only getting better.

Truth it we should have won all of our last 3 games..... but didn't because we shoot like elementary school kids from the line.
Thats improvement. If we won our last 3, we would be 12-8. Is that really what you expect? The fact that this team is playing better, and competing harder than anyone expected is what makes these losses so fustrating.

Coach has been saying over and over Kings need to learn to close out games. Well, all he can do is keep saying it since he's not out there on the court himself. Interesting in pre-game interview Reke said the team needs to play with intensity all four quarters. Seems they've mostly got that part down. Now, it's just fine tuning late game execution like no dumb fouls by JT, making free throws, especially when you got to have them late...

Thats nice and everything, but this mentality isn't what is going to get people in the seats. If we want our team to stay in Sac we need to start winning, and expecting that they will win every single night.

In watching the replay, there's one thing I'll say in Noc's defense on stepping over the line. The Kings have been abysmal from the line and he's there to try and tie the game. He's supposed to make the first FT. His mindset is on making the free throw, which it should be. When he misses, all of a sudden he's supposed to intentionally MISS the second and get a long board so one of his teammates can grab the ball and put up the Hail Mary.

Think about it for a minute. All of a sudden, he's supposed to shift gears and do exactly what they do NOT want him to do? No wonder the shot looked so funky and he stepped over the line...

I'm done with the excuses. Let the tarring and feathering begin. Just keep it civil and within the rules of the board. Thanks...

I thought it was obvious he was missing on purpose?

Well we lost a close one, tyreke tried to pull off the win in the end but nocioni can't shoot freethrows. But it kinda reminds me of something that hubie brown said last week during a cavs game a while back, those missed freethrows in the 1st and 2nd quarter really don't hurt until the 4th quarter.

No one can blame the refs for bad calls when the team can't capitalize on the calls that they do get to go their way.

Yes, that is what I expect. I expect them to win every single night. We are good enough to do it, now it just comes down to doing it.

Dude, it's clear you're either not going to accept anything I post OR you just don't get it. Either way, there's no way this ends well...

I think my post was pretty clear. If you didn't understand my point, I apologize for failing to make it so you could comprehend what I was trying to say.

Have a nice night.

Don't forget he was the one who cleaned up Tyreke's miss, drew a foul, and gave us another chance. And no he doesn't get nervouse like a rookie. He missed a ft, it happens. This guy has played on some of the biggest stages in international ball, and won. He's tough as nails. I'm willing to bet next time he's in that situation he converts.

Was at my sons basketball game and missed the game. Came home and checked the score and was happy to see we played it so close. Then I start reading the posts in here and...wow. This is a Kings team that last year would have lost this game by 20. AND, it would have been a slop fest with no hustle or energy. The way I see it; ALL we have to do is adjust in a few places, and WHAM we are a playoff team.

I'm thrilled!!:D

I'm not saying isn't tough as nails... I'm saying he chokes. He's a choker. Brad Miller was a Choker too.

You're giving me a headache.

Sorry, I just like keeping a balance of good and bad. Everyone here is either way to negative, or way to positive. We are a good team, I'm happy that I can expect wins again. When we lose its because of dumb mistakes that shouldn't be made by any team, ever. If we lose because a team is just flat out better, fine whatever. If we lose because we hurt ourselves... not ok. That makes me pissed as hell.

History tells a different story. In '99 the Kings didn't win all every game, but they played hard and were entertaining and most importantly, they were on the way up.

That's what we have here. A team with a future.

I'm taking the long term view here and it's looking great. It's been a long time since we've had a player like Evans and I'm going to enjoy watching him and this team grow.

History also tells us that we weren't having half full games before '99. When '99 hit it was about keeping fans in their seats... not getting them there in the first place.

I hate how people keep using last year as an excuse when we lose. We were a lot better than our actual record. Yeah 17 wins sucks but we were better than that, we just lacked a coach and made a horrible trade that costs us a 7 footer and some capspace.

I didn't get to watch the game but I follwed the box score on my iPhone. We couldve won that game just as easily as we lost it. I don't care about injuries, that happens to every team. We just lost, get over it. Maybe next time....
