[Game] Kings @ Magic, 27 FEB, 1900 EST

Similar thing happened with the Celtics once Rondo went down. I love Rondo, but he is so ball dominant that the other players got a little lazy. Rondo goes down, suddenly Bradley, Pierce, and Lee have to handle the ball and get the offense going, they get involved and are more engaged in the game by default just because they get to touch the basketball.

I was just thinking about that with Rondo when i typed that. But it's a lot more tolerable when you're a top 5 PG and the best defensive PG in the game, as well as get double digit assists almost nightly. IT still has never had a 10 ast game as it was reported last night was his career high.

Right now everyone is moving and expecting the pass, as we don't just have one person pounding the ball up top. This is beautiful.

I was going to add that to my point, too. It has to be one strategy or the other.

You can have a guy run your team completely is he's a super talent. We are giving Isaiah Thomas Rondo level team control, and that is just not a good recipe for success. When you don't have a Rondo, Paul, etc you need to run the offense through your best players.

Patterson runs the floor well, so that's something. I like how he rolls hard off the PnR. None of our bigs really do that.

Evans has 5 AST.
Jimmer, Cousins, and Salmons have 3 AST each.

Yup. First thing is Rondo doesn't take shots away from anyone, whether it was the big 3 or the current roster. Second, if you have a Rondo type, you don't put a ball dominant player next to him. While Pierce is a good iso player, he's also a great catch and shoot, spot up player. Allen obviously was as well and KG is a very good spot up shooter. But Rondo is more than comfortable giving the ball to guys where they want it and letting them go to work. IT not so much.

If you're an all-NBA PG you build around that with complimentary talent. IT isn't good enough to build around though, yet he needs the ball and needs to be aggressive. 6th man to me.

I'm going to give a shout out to Salmons. I think he has become a leader as odd as that may sound. He is a leader on the court and he called a players' meeting so obviously has something to say off the court. I've even seen him smile.
