[Game] Kings @ Clippers - 12/1/12

So now we're reduced to poor Jason Thompson trying to play and coach BASIC concepts at the same time? I am beyond fed up. I'd love to see kennadog come out of the stands and get in Smart's grill. She'd do it, too. She can not be happy with what she's seeing...

Can't expect Cuz to give a f*** after being benched.

Bullspittle. We as fans should expect nothing less than 100% effort from anyone who's on the floor, no matter the situation. Cuz can go sit on the bench if he's going to dog it on the floor because he's mad at coach

Please, Jimmer fans call for playing Jimmer despite his defense all the time. There's no excuse for not playing either more.

I don't believe I have called for Jimmer to play more at all. I will say that Jimmers problems on defense this year have been vastly over rated. He has been the kings best defensive point guard.

What do you so if you are coach Smart and you can't get your immensely talented big to even try on defense? Just let him play anyway?

Please, no one is giving 100%. Making an example out of your best player and letting it slide with everyone else is foolish.

Take heed, this is an entirely different team without Evans, coaching aside.

Smart already lost the team. Confusion reigns. The biggest issue is it seems the locker room is quiting on him, and I don't blame them one iota.

How to fix it? That ship has sailed for Smart imo.

Is there any evidence to this or mere speculation? People seem very quick to assign emotional reactions to Cousins that often aren't backed up by anything other than a random comment in a thread...

True, but you could almost say Kings are entirely different team without Beno Udrih. I recall he had a couple huge games against Clips (and I know they're different now too). In one game Beno had 29 pts, 14 assists, 10 boards at Staples Center.

Just piggybacking of Rainmaker's assertion that Cuz isn't caring because coach benched him

The only way for him to salvage it is to play his best players almost the entire game. If they blow it, it's really hard for them to blame anyone else as they were on the court the most. With the terrible minute distributions the top guys are just going to give up. They are not getting the minutes they think they deserve, they know they are better than the other players... so why should the bother trying if they know they won't be allowed to finish it out. The way he coaches just builds the excuses in their mind of why they are losing so many games.

No you don't what? Hold him out the entire game? If he is doing something the coach deems bad enough to warrant sitting the entire second quarter then he has no place on the court for the night.

You send the message that if you don't try to play defense then you won't play and then you give him a chance to make amends.

Edit: Of course this assumes that coach Smart has already communicated with Cuz and told him what he wants him to do on defense and has told him what he will do if he doesn't . This can't be the first step and I am not sure that Smart is using this tactic the right way but it can be an effective tactic.

I don't think there's any evidence to support that, especially when you look at the history of "rotations" Smart has used.

Right. Because you can't tell him that during a timeout, or during the time he is sitting on the bench next to you for 15 minutes. You need halftime to do it, right? Give me a break.

You are absolutely full of it! Go away. As I write this Paul left Jimmer's shorts on the court.

I said I wouldn't blame him in that scenario. I didn't say that's how he feels. And you seem to think Cuz is the only one dogging it out there and the only one worthy of a benching. While Brooks, IT, MT, Salmons, JT, Cisco get lit up, along with Cuz, you're pinpointing Cuz.

This. The only consistency is that the hot hand gets shelved. Or really, I guess that the only consistency is that there is no consistency.

I've held to my opinion the sub patterns and lack of roles will effect players mentally at some point. It was bound to happen and it looks like it has. You can't yank them around from game to game and expect 100% in return. When you play well, you're benched. When you play well, you might not even play next game. While you're on the bench, guys not playing well are keeping you there and getting extended run. Who you play enxt to changes from half to half, game to game.

Anyone who's played realizes athletes build off consistency. Coach like this and this is the result you get. And it started in Feb last season.
