I never claimed that Kawhi, Dunn, or DJJ weren’t good defenders. Kawhi is nowhere near what he used to be, but I digress.
The KINGs have good defenders too. But they also have some average or poor defenders playing heavy minutes in their rotation. So do the Clippers. That’s the point.
Difference is, the larger market franchise and especially more marquee franchises get away with more on defense. That doesn’t mean that they play great defense. Or defense at the level that the “stats” suggest.
If you want to foolishly believe that the Clippers are an elite defensive team — great for you. But I submit that you’re missing some big pieces of the overall larger puzzle of why that is.
Go rewatch the game and see how many more fouls they got away with compared to the KINGS. Then do the same for the Denver game.
It’s all there plain as day to see if you really want to see the truth.
Knicks are missing Brunson too. No excuses. Knicks are having a tough game tomorrow. And a very tough game tomorrow. Thanks, schedule makers! Couldn’t have had these injuries at a better time smh
I’ll say one last thing before shutting up about this game then moving on to the next one.
While the game never should have gone to OT, I thought Keegan played very good defense on Kawhi on that final possession and forced a bad shot.
Kawhi just got super lucky. It’s as simple as that. Kawhi can celebrate the flukey result all he wants as if he meant to do it, but that was a bad shot that didn’t even hit the back of the rim but rather the space between the back of the rim and the backboard (the heel or whatever it’s officially called). But apparently he made some type of deal with the basketball devil when it comes to fluke bounces off the rim. C’est la vie.
Still, I give kudos to Keegan for playing good, solid defense that just ended with the wrong result.

For those that didn’t see the presser, Barbosa will move to the front of the bench and Jimmy Alapag will be in the first seat.
So who will run the defense?
Shooting 55% against the Clippers defense filled with long athletic wings is really good. He got to the rim at will. We should have used him more.So who will run the defense?
Also Zach is 0-14 against Kawhi... damn

"Oops. Forgot Deebo is with the Kings now. Marginal contact."View attachment 13404
That looks like ball still on his fingertips when Jones hits his hand

I have a feeling we are going to run into them in the play-in. Then, we'll have Domas and Monk and the result will be different. Mark my lasagnas. We’ll get them back in the postseason.

Matt George said on his locked on kings post game what I’m thinking. He doesn’t think this kind of defense can be sustained with monk and sabonis back. It’s inevitable that this team is gonna change with those two guys playing their starter minutes.
I was going to blame LaVine for not even attempting to lob the ball up to Carter at the end of the 3rd, which definitely cost us 2pts there and the win.
But then the foul on DeRozan's shot happened and I'm back to questioning why I'm even watching this farce of a "sport".
