[Game] Kings @ Bobcats, 1/19/13, 4:00 Pacific

our offense is abysmal, has this coach heard of screens, pick and roll, cuts? wtf? Any decent defensive team (like the Grizzlies yesterday) salivate at the thought of a team that just isolates a player and has 4 statues to worry about.

I am not an Isaiah fan..... too much of a selfish player. and no, the 7 assists tonight does not justify anything.

Tonight is exactly what we want IT to do. He got others involved, didn't turn the ball over, took the shots he should have, and was good defensively and on the glass. I'd like to know what happened to his 3pt shot, but this is the kind of game we want him playing

Lol @ Keith Smart for only playing Reke for 26 minutes tonight. He's honestly been one of our most efficient players this year whether any of you want to accept that or not.

Yes. Even his jump shot has improved amazingly. I will come to a small defense of Smart and that is that he doesn't know what to do with Reke and MT on the same team. That goes for the mini chuckers. The team is set up wrong. But still, as Reke has been a PG, why not play Reke and MT at the same time? Smart is not smart. For some reason he just can't figure such things out. At the least he could use his assistants and have them give suggestions but I suspect that just confuses him. I don't know anything about Smart except he is not good at all.

I agree with you but we'll see how he does as time passes (pun). If he consistently had so many assists, I would feel better but I think we all know this was an aberration.

I mean he's shooting 47% from the field and 35% from 3. If he were playing 35 minutes a game instead of 30, he'd be a borderline all star this year.

Despite what he said, he's too worried about hurting feelings still. It's a simple matter of taking the 39 minutes given to Cisco-Hayes-Brooks and recycling those back into the starters+Trob. We'd have a lot more room to give our starters more minutes assuming we give Trob 20 MPG and keep Thornton at 26 and JJ at 19. For instance, if we redistribute those minutes back into the starters+Trob not being hurt tonight:

IT-34 MPG
Reke-36 MPG
Salmons-31 MPG
Cousins-38 MPG
JT-31 MPG

Bench-
Thornton-26 MPG
Johnson-19 MPG
Robinson-20 MPG

Obviously, there's room to wiggle, but sticking with that sort of rotation is entirely possible with the versatility and young legs we have on the roster. Btw, those 39 MPG from Chuck, Brooks, and Cisco gave us the following:

7 points on 2-11 shooting
4 rebounds
5 assists
1 TO

I'd much rather give those extra minutes to players who can actually do something with them

I cringe every time Smart goes with a full 2nd unit of Brooks, Thornton, Garcia, Johnson, Hayes. We always need one of Cousins or Evans on the court, Thornton in particular needs those players around him to get him open looks. Thornton is not someone you just isolate and expect to score, run him off screens, set back picks for him etc.

What he said, especially the bolded part.

Agree. Was a huge difference compared to some of his more recent games. He was clearly looking to set guys up and didn't chuck up any stupid 3 pointers with 16 seconds on the shotclock. I have no problem with this sort of play from him.

Also, they dont show replays worth a damn in Charlotte and I dont feel like looking through all these comments. Did i see James Johnson tip one into his own basket?? Couldn't really tell but we were all pretty sure he did

I missed the game but wanted to say thanks to those who posted in this thread :D Nice to know we won despite Keiths best efforts to tank the game. From the comments, thats the nly explanation for taking out the guys doing good, running with guys having bad nights, leaving Jimmer on the bench etc etc.

When your two "big" men are the best passers on the court, you know you're doing it wrong. Seriously, its like Brooks and MT are constantly challenging each other to see who can shoot the ball the most.

nah I just live in VA, my local team is the Charlotte Bobcats. Only get to see the Kings in person once each year
This amuses me, just because of the geography of Virginia. kings4lyfe32, you're not the only Kings Fan to live/have lived in VA, but I'm pretty sure that you're the only one for whom Charlotte is closer than DC. Hell, I lived most of the last decade in Hampton Roads: not only is DC closer to Hampton than Charlotte, but so is Philly.
