I'm with you on keeping our guys...The only guy out of those you mentioned that I'm willing to give up is Outlaw. But if we can get Rondo for a reasonable tradable price I'd love it. But if it's our young assets, then no thanks...Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if the Celtics wouldn't get that big of a deal (that they're probably looking for) for Rondo. Hopefully another amazing deal can happen for our team.
I don't get the impression that Boston is actively trying to shop Rondo. There have actually been talks about Ainge extending him. I'm not really sure what to make of the Rondo situation as it seems like there have been many conflicting reports. If I had to take a stab at it, I would say Ainge is willing to trade Rondo if he gets great value for him, and if he doesn't, he'll try to extend him and have him be the main piece for his rebuilding team.
Outside of Rondo, he is probably one guy I would go after. He is a very good defender, can run the team and he would more comfortably fit as the 3rd option on this team than IT. It also allows us a bit more flexibility with the type of player we could have at SG. Rather than a strict 3 and D guy if IT is your PG, you could probably go with a good defender who can also give you 12-15ppg. It opens up the door for McLemore in the long run and might make Thornton more useful and effective than he has been this season. This would make him more tradeable than he is now.Raptors may yet decide to trade Lowry.

Yeah I would definitely ask rudy about Lowry firstI would avoid Lowry simply because he was part of what Rudy just got away from.
I doubt it's Lowry, maybe it's DeRozan.Yeah I would definitely ask rudy about Lowry first
I was thinking the same.I doubt it's Lowry, maybe it's DeRozan.
Not bad since Asik/Lin if they don't work out come off contract after next season anyway, I think Lin's ability to drive and kick would be very good here. Can we afford the spike in Lin/Asik contract with DMC getting a extension and Rudy Gay getting 19mil next season? We would be way over the cap would we not?![]()
Just sayin'.
Square pegs for square pegs, both sides might get pieces that fit better/they are familiar with. We gain defense they gain guys who play their style. We gain size, and have a huge frontcourt that still has multiple small/stretch 4 options. We advance as Asia's team/an international team. They get the best player, we get the best defender. We shorten our obligations to all end after next year.
Gonna have to pay somebody at pg next yearNot bad since Asik/Lin if they don't work out come off contract after next season anyway, I think Lin's ability to drive and kick would be very good here. Making 15 million or just under both he and Asik next year.......that's a lot of money maybe we are better off riding out MT's contract or trying to move him next year. I like the pieces we get in the trade but damn that's a lot of money.Gonna have to pay somebody at pg next year
That's a lot of money, but it doesn't all count against the cap. The cap hit on each is around 8 million not the 15 million they will be paid. If the owners don't mind paying the salary, that's on them.Making 15 million or just under both he and Asik next year.......that's a lot of money maybe we are better off riding out MT's contract or trying to move him next year. well MT would make 8.5 mil next year and landry 6.5 and IT at least 6 thats 20 mil so we come out better with the 15 mil. thats with this particular trade scenerioMaking 15 million or just under both he and Asik next year.......that's a lot of money maybe we are better off riding out MT's contract or trying to move him next year. We can't trade our draft pick. All these writers that don't know poopoo keep writing these things they know nothing about.
I think at that point it's trading a player though. Not sureWell if we draft and then trade the player we pick.... That would technically still be trading our pick, but you're right, they probably have no idea what they're talking about and are probably referring to trading the actual pick before the player is taken.
I believe you are correct.I think at that point it's trading a player though. Not sure
YesIt would be an agreement before the draft to trade the rights to our draft pick, which means that team X tells us who to draft for them in that slot.
Im not sure I'd get rid of IT![]()

He'd be perfect off the bench one day. Im willing to be patient with him
He almost can't come off the bench for us financially after this season.
Basically we have two giant contracts next year, and we're going to have to pay IT major money. Not $12mil I would think, but a lot. Maybe $8mil? I dunno. At that point there is no way we can afford another big $$ PG to come in to platoon with him so that we end up spending $15+mil on our PGs, and there are very few non-big$$ PGs we would possibly convince IT, or anyone, that they should be starting over him.

You realize this trade would bring our payroll up to $88 mil next year (including our 1st round pick's salary)? Considering the luxury tax level is rumored to be set at $75.7 mil next year, that means we are $12.3 mil over the luxury tax level. This results in $22 mil in taxes we would have to pay. That brings our total payroll to $110 mil. That's quite an investment for a small market team. For that reason alone, I would say this trade isn't realistic, but who knows? Maybe we do have extremely deep pockets now.
