in collage basketball is there a national signing day like in football??
One good thing that will come out of this mishap is we'll get a clear look at Barnes.
Yeah, I agree! You never know for sure whats going to happen. What they're building is still fairly fragile, so they could just as easily lose three in a row. But building a winning culture is very important. We'll get a good draft pick regardless. Who knows, we might luck out and win the lottery.
This is Bajaden by the way. I'm on Uncia03's computer. Up here for the NCAA tourney.
Well damn man, you have to have more fun with it than that. Post random pictures of sheep and claim its Uncia doing it. Change his avatar to a picture of a man in a diaper kissing a dominatrix's feet and label it "self portrait". Be entertaining at least.
Hey, he might just hit 20 uncontested jumpers out of 20 in two months in front of certain GM and before you know it you're welcoming the guy. Too early to trade the pick. Now that we got a look at him, can we just trade the pick?![]()
After watching IT dribble the ball off his foot earlier I immediately thought to myself, hey, where is Cap Factorial's annual draft position tracking thread? Hands down my favorite thing to do at this point in the season (I know, that's a terrible thing to admit but it beats depression by a mile!)

P.S. We know he can't pass or dribble so just have to avoid those 20 out of 20 and we're good.
DEAR GOD we would be instant playoff contenders if we got Anthony Davis... I think I may have just joined the losing for the rest of the season bandwagon... That guy is just phenominal and EXACTLY what we need.
this is our year. we got screwed several years in a row on picks. one person i don't want the kings drafting is barnes.
Gilchrist ftw

And yet again I will remind people that having the worst record does NOT ensure getting the #1 pick. If anyone should know that, it should be Kings fans.
Oh Trust me I know! But, at this point, Kings should do everything they can to get Davis IMO. Whether its preparing a trade for draft night or just sucking to better the odds. A defensive monster with offensive skill like this almost never comes around. Looking ahead at our schedual its very possible we go around 4-14 these last 18 games anyways.
Davis and Cousins would be like Yin & Yang, Both making each other that much better because of their gametypes. PERFECT fit beside each other. We would be contenders for a decade with these two towers.
Thing is, Davis remains a real long shot. Everybody knows he's #1 so even if we had the very worst record in the league I think our percentage would only be 25%. So you figure for us, less than 20%. Likely less than 10%.
In fact really I think our entire draft this year is dependent on us doing what we could not in either the Reke or Cousins years: get into the top 3. Because you get down to it I think there may only be 3 guys in the enitre lottery who work for us before you think about maybe trading that pick. You have Davis to fill that defensive PF need. You have Drummond as the Davis alternative (Drummond has high bust potential but intrigues the heck out of me still -- who cares aobut his offense, that's not what we need from him). And you have Kidd-Gilchrist to fill the other need for a defensive SF (assuming Smart does not look at him and think 6'6" PF).
But unless I'm missing something (and I might be as I don't watch much college ball anymore) as soon as you get past those three, the rest of the lottery is filled up with players who simply are NOT what we need. You've just got stubby traditional power forwards who you just can't pair with Cousins and possibly Hayes, long athletic combo SF/PFs who Smart might liek, but who don't use their length on defense which makes them worthless to us. You've got Barnes, who's best trait is his offense, which we do not need. Best thing about him is that he's probably a catch and shoot guy rather than a ball domiantor, but being limited is hardly a recommendation. There are several score first combo guard types in the mix, obviosuly something we have more than enoguh of thanks. And so after the Top 3 what's left? Reach/hope on skinny guys like Henson or Coby Zeller? Going the other way for the unique if pedestrian talent in Marshall? You wait until you see if you hit the Top 3 jackpot, but if you don't, I think you have to seriously start taking offers for that pick. Offers involving proven NBA guys who can fill our defensive holes that is.
I agree with alot of what you just said, especially with outside of those 3 it is extremely tough for us. Although I think Henson can fit for us, I think he can still be an elite shotblocker at the NBA level, of course not like Davis though. And yes he does need to put on some weight, but I think Davis obviously the best choice then MKG, Drummond, and in my opinion throw Henson in there.

Id prolly take Henson over Drummond.. I would have to consider Barnes as well as a pick. But there arent alot of other guys in the draft the entice me as a Kingsfan. I would try and package the pick with some young talent and get Davis if we're out of the top 5.
***EDIT actually i'd try and package it if we end up with anything other then the top pick
Interesting that you'd pick Henson over Drummond as most mock drafts don't have them anywhere near each other. I agree with you though especially for the Kings. Drummond is huge and I think also a bit lazy. He has depended on his size and done very little work or so it appears. His free throw shooting percentage is 30%!!! I think Henson will fill out and be a moderate, at least, defensive force. Look at Daly's body and I think this is what he will eventually look like.
And you have Kidd-Gilchrist to fill the other need for a defensive SF (assuming Smart does not look at him and think 6'6" PF).
Drummond had arguably the best season defensively of any freshman in the last 5 years not named Greg Oden or Anthony Davis. He often played PF next to Oriakhi and didn't look lost on perimeter. I remember the way he started the season he played better with every game and then started his infamous FT slump coupled with Calhoun's illness. So you're coach, you have a bigman who's your best defender but shoots 25% from FT line. What role do you designate for him? Bang inside and get a lot on the line or set screens and hunt for offensive boards? Drummond often threw quick awkward shots toward the rim after the offensive rebound to avoid getting to the line.
Yes, he has a huge problem that he needs to fix to have a career but there seem to be some mitigating sircumstances. link
