[Game] (Preseason)Kings vs Warriors, 10/9/2024 7:30PM Pacific, 10:30PM East (ESPN)

Well we won in the first half, our best vs theirs. They made an over the top abnormal amount of threes and we still too the lead at half time. Good. Plenty to figure out and the west is dumb but it’s exciting.

In the end one IJ looked good among the deep bench but none of those guys will see playing time this year anyway. I think Boogie has a place in the NBA, not sure it’s with us.

Isaac looks really smooth going downhill. Shot is still shoddy but there’s a lot to work with
From day 1 it seemed like the Kings coaches were really working with him on his role, it's already paying off for him. Monte might be off to a really good start on loading up on the back end of his rotation with cheap replacements in a league where now having players making MLE money that far down is probably a no go.

Both Crawford and Isaac Jones look like players you can call up during the season if they need some extra bodies.

All that talk about offensive rebounds, and i really just want us to guard the 3 better than we have before. That would change everything
Eh, sometimes teams hit shots despite good defense.

Also, when Draymond and Kuminga are hitting threes, you can live it with it. Because those guys won’t be doing that consistently at all.

I’ll take my chances all day, everyday and twice on Sunday’s with those guys shooting threes (they were 6/10 tonight). Even when wide open, they aren’t hitting those shots consistently. IDC that Dray had a career high percentage last season. He’s a career 32% shooter and has been under 30% 5x during his career.

Meanwhile Buddy and Steph have been among the best 3pt shooters of the past 8 years (since Buddy entered the league). They’re gonna have nights when they make 3’s no matter what the defense does. It is what it is.

Thing is, we KINGS fans know that Buddy tends to not make them so much in games with much higher stakes.

Watched most of the first half, the spacing in our starting lineup is pretty bad. Their defense looked sloppy. I'm really hoping we're not a repeat of last years team... except trade our 3s for 2s.

I love Keon, but he doesn't have the gravitational pull that Kevin does. A healthy Kevin probably takes the starting job back just based off his reputation as a 3pt specialist.

I never believed it for a second when they said Sabonis would start taking more 3s. But his pull-up mid range shot was nice

DDR looks great on offense
Weird take on that 1st half offense. We attacked the rim at will and pretty much got whatever shot we wanted. DDR commanding respect and defensive attention really does. That's as good as the Kings offense has looked in awhile.

Keegans got to hit a few of of those open looks, sure, but nothing about that 1st half resembled last year. GSW probably won't have a better shooting half all year and we were still winning. That's a good sign of how good the offense was

My only negative on offense with the starters is that Keon still looks uncomfortable with the dribble hand off. On one play he ran right into Keegan. I think he ran into someone else later in the game. Have to clean that up.

Didn't see much in this game to give me much insight into how the regular season or possible post-season will go. It probably will take a few regular season games to see how opposing teams will defend the Kings and how Kings in turn will respond.

DDR and Monk looked active and good on offense. Sabonis was himself, though he did take more outside shots than usual, which I liked. Neither Fox nor Murray had much of an impact. Fox was in observer/self-preservation mode. Defense was barely existent. Kind of a ho-hummer exhibition game for me. Hopefully, the next game will be a little more serious.

Very encouraged by last night when the starters were playing.

They shot out of their minds, the best they will shoot all season, even when contested.

We shot the 3 poorly, but had open looks. I feel confident we make those shots most nights. We were able to get open looks at will.

Yet we won (the first half) because we are no longer dependent on shooting well from 3 to win. Last year, we could lose to anyone because if our 3 ball was off, we were toast. We look so much more dangerous with DDR.

Plus, it was just nice to watch Kings play basketball again. Glad NBA basketball is back.
