I hate Geoff Petrie!

Fire Petrie...again! Petrie doesn't look like the rebuilding type considering all these veterans he got locked down. The Maloofs definitely do not look like the type to tank when they're trying to build a brand name. At least we'll get to see Artest rampaging people on the court. Despite all the hate, he was great these couple of games. Seems like Theus finally got him to understand timing when trying to hog the ball. Mediocre will have to be lived with at the moment. Plus, I don't see any Lebrons coming out.

Yeah! Geoff is an idiot for not trading the Kings best player for garbage.

It seems some are so short sighted, that they would prefer to trade Ron for nothing. GP could not get anything of value for Ron, that is the ONE thing that we do know. I am amazed at the reaction and that people actually expected him to accept the garbage that was being offered.

Take my advice, save the energy that it takes to "hate" for more important things.

I completely agree!

Great so we take the risk that Ron does not implode on a losing team for what, so we can just barely miss the playoffs. Now, when we don't resign him, we get nothing. Brilliant!

haha. Some of you guys were saying you would be happy letting Artest walk rather then taking on other teams garbage just a couple months ago. Seriously, did you guys really want another log-jam at the off-guard, another aging big man at the tail end of his career, and a draft pick of a scrub. Now, you can say hey, better than nothing. But I just don't understand it. Yes we want to rebuild, yes we want to see our team have fun, but at the end of day, it's about winning. You talk about the future but you sacrifice the present. Our players will never develop if they are constantly put in situation of constant losing. Why do you think teams like Seattle, Clippers, Sixers, Wolves, Bobcats and all the other supposed young teams fill the bottom of the cellar? No positive environments. These teams constantly lose every year yet you always here talks about a youth movement and such. I don't know about you guys, but sometimes, you have to be a Homer in order to be a fan of your team. Why do you think we still cheer and go to games and make positive threads when they win? Because we're fans first and foremost.

On a more positive* note, from my understanding, once we're out of any real playoff contention, we can start making trades with other teams that are in the same boat. I'm not sure if that's true.

Maybe nobody offered "some picks" nor any useable bodies remotely equivalent. I think GP was smart and wise this round as we never want a trade for trade sake.

I'm happy. Let RonRon play the last 29 games like the last 3 and we will scare the bejezzus outa the west!!! Playoffs? Not likely but a winning record definitely. Considering, that would make me happy this year.

I know, I'm actually glad we didn't trade him now.

I think that's better than sacrificng the future for the present ...a team that's going nowhere.

Not until after the season ends and then you can only trade with other teams not in the playoffs and then other teams once they have been eliminated from the playoffs.

The Sonics are now what Portland was two years ago. Would you rather have Portland's roster or the Kings?

From what I am hearing on this board, it seems like a lot of people would prefer the Sonics situation (all blown up) to the Kings situation. After having watched a couple of Sonics games, I can say without a doubt that I prefer watching the Kings.

Also, Petrie haters act like he doesn't have a boss(es). Supposedly the Maloofs nixed a Bibby for Bynum trade last year. Who knows if that is true, but there are some valid reasons why Petrie could not have blown up the Kings. Say, like a failled attempt to win voter support for a new stadium.

I think Marty Macs column put it well today. The Kings just have not been lucky lately. If they do get lucky, Petrie is a GM that can take advantage of it.

atleast we will win games, get a crappy draft pick and lose artest! :(

As it stands today the Kings would draft #15 in a very deep draft. Kings would have to go 22-7 to have even an outside chance for the playoffs but they have 29 games to get their act together and find out who are the core going into next year.

Winning games..... thats good.
Crappy draft...... at #15 in deep draft, not bad plus Kings have two 2nd rounders (Anthony Johnson, Monta Ellis and Gilbert Arenas were all 2nd rounders!)
Lose Artest....... get another $8.5M under the cap, thats good.

Have 3 expirings worth about $7.4M..........that's good.
If SAR comes back next year with 2 years remaining and can be one of 3 PF's (Shelden, Mikki and SAR), thats good (Hawes backing up Miller).

Enjoy the good games, like the last 3 and the fact the Kings have beaten every division leader at least once this year and Detroit twice!!

Heck, it's exciting waiting to see which Kings team will show up any given night. And to see if Shelden could be the star others thought he could be, and if Hawes develops as quickly as he seems to be. My Kings cup is half full. Too bad yours is half empty. ;)

Geoff knows what he is doing. The Kings games are actually fun to watch this year, unlike last year. The last 3 games have been very entertaining.

Hard to know where to post yet another Ron Artest tid bit. David Aldridge just said on TNT that the Rockets wanted to ship Bonzi Wells to Sac for Artest but the Kings insisted on Aaron Brooks as part of the package. With Petrie standing firm and the Rockets not willing to let go of their young PG the fall back option of dealing Wells to New Orleans for Bobby Jackson was what Houston was left with.

good idea:rolleyes: quit on your boses because you do not get along. I am sure after that other owners would be knocking on your door.
If the owners are handcuffing you so you can't do your job, that's what you ought to do. Fact is, I see no validity to your point that the Maloofs are or were handcuffing Petrie. That in my estimation deserves a..

Okay, it appears as though the snarking in here is simply going to continue. For that reason, AND because there's a thread in the Kings Rap forum that actually has more discussion on the same subject, I'm closing the thread.
