Honeycutt + Whiteside to NBDL-Reno

Kings airplane leaves 1 P.M. tomorrow for Memphis IF Cuz is onboard - and I guess that means more than just "onboard" team plane.

Just announced. Maybe opening roster spots... for big trade??

Still leaves us 12. Its just a play the vets/gotta win now scenario. Wasn't hard to see Whiteside going back after what we saw in preseason (whihc oddly looked somehow worse then what we saw back in summer league a year and a half ago). And it was never hard to see Honeycutt going down as well to get some PT, work on the body etc. Like Whiteside last year, Honeycutt got his first 2 NBA points. Now he gets to develop in exile. :)

Still leaves:

Cousins
Thompson
Hickson
Hayes

Outlaw (effectively our 5th "big" grrr...)
Donte
Salmons
Cisco

Thornton
Evans
Fredette
Thomas

Didn't the latest CBA signed allow NBA teams to actually dress 13 for games? I somehow recall some sort of change in roster size in latest agreement.

GOOD, less players for Westpaul to shuffle the lineup with. Tonight is the first night Westpaul didn't put in his stupid 3 guard lineup, and the team played better.

here, fixed it for ya brick. :)

Yeah i think you could send vets to the D-league for injury recoup etc.

i hope Honeycutt takes this in the right way, doesn't see it as an insult, because he has got skills we could do with down the line.

i fear a bit for whiteside, every time i've seen him he just looks lost on offense and defense.

Honeycutt wont take it the wrong way. If anything I'm sure he'll be happy he'll actually get to play some ball against semi-pro players. We need these guys developing and thats not going to happen on the bench.

Watching Whiteside. He's putting up good stats, but he isn't showing anything beyond being 7'0 with a crazy wingspan.

Later into the game. Still making things happen with his length. Still looks soft in the post, though. (He's showing bad hands and getting pushed around. The latter he can easily fix by getting his body closer to the ground.)

Defensively it feels like he's so focused on blocking shots that his man defense suffers.

In other words, same ol' raw Whiteside.

Whiteside tonight in just over 16 minutes: 13/9 with 6(!) blocks....
Didnt actually watch the game like you did cuad, so I'll take your word for it on his rawness. We could use a nasty shotblocker though, even a dummy (its not like Sammy D had any BB IQ)....And considering ALL of our players look lost on the court, I'll stay optimistic for what Whiteside can do once he actually has a real coach..We all knew he'd be a project.

Yeh, he is too big and strong to get thrown around like he does. If he actually watched his tape he would be embarrassed.
