Just announced. Maybe opening roster spots... for big trade??
I'm pretty sure they still count against the roster.
they do.

Didn't the latest CBA signed allow NBA teams to actually dress 13 for games? I somehow recall some sort of change in roster size in latest agreement.
He's been in the NBA too long. Couldn't assign Outlaw to the D-League if they even wanted to.Don't know what to make of that. If anyone deserves D-league status, it's Outlaw.
Still leaves us 12. Its just a play the vets/gotta win now scenario. Wasn't hard to see Whiteside going back after what we saw in preseason (whihc oddly looked somehow worse then what we saw back in summer league a year and a half ago). And it was never hard to see Honeycutt going down as well to get some PT, work on the body etc. Like Whiteside last year, Honeycutt got his first 2 NBA points. Now he gets to develop in exile.
Still leaves:
Cousins
Thompson
Hickson
Hayes
Outlaw (effectively our 5th "big" grrr...)
Fredette
Donte
Salmons
Cisco
Thornton
Evans
Thomas

Has't that changed in the new CBA?! I am pretty sure there was a change to the rules about sending players back to NBDL.
is this dude that much better than me?
Watching Whiteside. He's putting up good stats, but he isn't showing anything beyond being 7'0 with a crazy wingspan.
Later into the game. Still making things happen with his length. Still looks soft in the post, though. (He's showing bad hands and getting pushed around. The latter he can easily fix by getting his body closer to the ground.)
Defensively it feels like he's so focused on blocking shots that his man defense suffers.
In other words, same ol' raw Whiteside.
