It never ceases to amaze me what a few "unexpected" wins for a rebuilding, developing team will do to the fans, when followed by many losses.

Newsflash: This is a very young team. The young players are getting court time we all wanted them to have. Just because our team's enthusiasm and ability to sneak up on poor teams at the beginning of a season, where our schedule was very very much in our favor, we are now just saying "oh this team really sucks and we must trade for a big man NOW." Well, folks, Rome wasn't built in a day. We are headed in the right direction and unless all you can see are wins and losses, you would still see that. You don't take a last place team and make it into a contender in one damn season. If we cannot pull off a good trade by the deadline, waiting until the offseason to continue our rebuild is not the end of the world. If you cannot let the rebuild take the "normal" 2-3 years to happen, then you will be angry and disgruntled all the time. I will say again, what many have said before......HAVE PATIENCE. Think realistically, and not with the wild enthusiasm you were fortunate enough to feel during our easy early schedule. And, above all else, remember...it is darkest before the dawn.
Sure, I don't expect them to win. But c'mon, even you must admit our team is better than the one that has been showing up the past few games, where the game has been over from the start of the 3rd quarter. Against the heat it was over once they took the lead from us being up 8-4. We're not seeing the same kind of hustle that we once praised the team for, they're doing stupid things like having open rebounds slip out their hands and stuff. Shooting slumps and all I can forgive, but things like technical fouls and stuff?

Well a previous post in this thread said it perfectly. Our front-court players are simply not good enough for us to expect to remain competitive. What is taking management so long to realize this is what puzzles me. To be honest, in my opinion every blow-out loss is a win until something is done. Let's be honest, Jason Thompson and Spencer Hawes might show us signs of being able to play in the league from time to time, but together they should not be your teams' starting front-court.

If you really look at this team, we are a solid center and a decent PF away from being competitive every night, regardless of the opponent. With a real starting frontcourt, this team can win some ball games.
Good point.

are you serious? they've won one game this month.... this might happen again next month.... this is worse, we didnt have tyreke last year. we had most of these players and garcia hasnt played yet. we replaced garcia for tyreke basically. we are a way better team who has just offically become worse. how can an nba team win only 1 game in an entire month? one game in a month.... we were flirting with a .500 record towards the end of december. we are like 13 games below .500... wow, how is that not worse than last season? that was supposed to be a freak of nature accident... theus shouldnt have been an actual nba coach. we had a legit excuse last season. we have a real nba level coach and a stud superstar in evans, this should be happening. we werent supposed to win it all but we were supposed to beat teams like philly and the warriors. maybe upset a contender every once in a while because a youngster had a career night. it happens, its all about matchups....
Thanks for making my argument for me, why this season looks better than last. Now we have Tyreke. We can look forward to Garcia returning. We have Omri. We got off to a hot start without our main contributor from last year. Our record will surely improve on last seasons'.

I'm just as upset as you for how bad the Kings have been playing lately, I really am. But this is not an argument about recent play, this is about comparing whole seasons. An argument that you joined in on.

Aries has never said Tyreke was not a good player, he just says he's not a PG

thank you, i still dont think that he's a pg... but he can do some amazing things with the ball but he isnt a pg. i hope that he can learn to play without the ball, just a little bit... so we can just play him at sg and finally start to rebuild this team. we didnt do any rebuilding we just added 3 rookies and sergio. oh, and made another coaching change.

how many new coaches have we had? we suck so we get draft picks... we havent begun to rebuild anything... we're just a young version of what we were before.. hawes sucks at center instead of miller. thompson is a scrub starting at pf instead of that scrub thomas or moore. different players, same results. instead of martin being a one man offense, evans is a one man offense... beno sucks again... sergio isnt playing much better, so basically we have no pg again this year.

same thing, no rebuild...

Your logic is making my head hurt.

So what in your mind would qualify as rebuilding?

You want to really blow this team up again?

There's nothing left to blow up. Besides Noch of course. Were still on the right track, we've just been taking steps backward instead of forward for the last month or so.

There are several very important reasons that we have been "taking backwards steps," as you say.

1. Our first couple of months we had an "overall" very easy schedule.
2. Other teams did not know of the talent of our youngsters.
3. Our young players played with the fire and entusiasm that playing on the big stage will bring to a player.
4. Our young players are tired...very very tired. We have played these guys a bunch of minutes of a grueling NBA schedule that their bodies are absolutely not used to having to play.
5. To play great ball against elite teams, taking them to OT game after game, and coming up the loser will deflate your ego and self-confidence big time. They have to learn to play through that.
6. They are young and they still have a lot to learn.
7. They must get some rest.

None of this is in any particular order. To expect different results than what we are seeing is unrealistic. You are correct, MKF. There is nothing to blow up.

Oh there's something left to blow up. The team got "tired" as soon as it reappeared. And there is a not so amusing name on the back of the jersey rather than the front phenomenon going on right now to tar the whole team to protect said thing.

As you know, I am a Martin fan. Have been since day 1. But, I am a fan of the name on the front, 1st and foremost. We are going a different direction now. While I appreciate every bit of excitement that Kevin has brought to our team, I am fully prepared to use our best bargaining chip to continue our rebuild.

Having said all that, it really ticks me off that some fans have to disparage him (and others) while they are wearing my team's jersey. You want to trade him for a need this team has? Fine! I'm a willing partner. But, do so while appreciating what he has brought to Sacramento Kings fans. Since I want to get the best front court player I can, I know I have to trade someone of value to other teams. I hate it when fans talk as if Kevin has no value as a basketball player. We simply can now afford to give him up to get what we need more.

p.s. The team showed signed of getting tired before Martin's return.

Talk about a brain fart. Yea, your right. I was more talking towards the people who said we havent started to rebuild yet. The only player over 30 with a long term deal on this team is Noch, which Is why I mentioned him.

We have two problems - Lack of a big man and too many wings. If Petrie plays his cards right, he can fix both of them in 1 move.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even then I dont know how anyone can say we havent 'blown it up' already. At the start of last year we still had Salmons and Miller taking 30+ minutes each. If you dont see how we have made progress since last year your blind. Im not saying that what we see on the court has changed all that much ( meaning were still bad, still showing a lack of effort, still cant play defense ) but the roster has changed. Expectations have changed. Im pretty sure we have the second youngest team ( average age of roster ) in the league. Couldnt say that last year. We added a futue all star ( knock on wood ) and we'll have a top pick this year. Things are slowly getting better.

Everytime I get down. I look at the Thunder. Do you guys know what there record was last year? 23-59. They already have 24 wins this year. Were on pace for better than 23 wins. That team gives me hope. They were young like us, with 1 guy they knew was a keeper ( Durant ) and two other big prospects ( Green and Westbrook ). Were not that far off. We have 1 keeper ( Evans ) and a few other guys to be happy about ( Greene, Casspi, hopefully Hawes and JT ) and a big trade chip in Martin. The thunder nucleus does look better right now, but they're also 1 year ahead of us. Were slowly on our way up, I promise =]

I think there's a lot of validity to this list. I might even put "demoralizing OT losses" ahead of everything else.

Totally agree with everything stated but this is the one that has been lingering.

I know what all those close losses did to me (complete loss for voice followed by a splitting migraine)... I can only imagine what it did to our guys out on the court.

Thanks Brick for the guy version this time around. Next time you should have hottest athletes – both guys and girls (so it would be fair to both sides, lol).

Didn’t get a chance to watch the game but I think the guys are just ready to come home. This whole trip was like a struggle. They’ve lost all the ball movement, the chemistry isn’t like it was before…My question is, why didn’t Coach W. just ease Kevin right into the line-up instead just pushing him into the position especially since we were playing on the road?

Donte Greene says their struggles are mental right now.

Donté Greene said the Kings' struggles are "mental" at this point. After competing with some of the NBA's best teams and taking the Lakers and Cleveland to overtime last month, they have been pushed around lately.

"We're just going backwards," Greene said. "I don't know what we're doing."

I remember just a few short weeks ago we were competitive with anyone we played. Now, we are competitive with no teams. We may seriously be the poorest team in the league at this moment.
so maybe the coach should go back to do the things that worked for us like giving the youngsters the feeling that he belives in them again and rebuild there self confidence.
JT looks lost, since the seconed lakers game, Green is a starter now but he has something like good 5 minutes and then he doesn't get the ball any more, same with Casspi, who had a great start of the mont, and looks lost since K Martis back , although he shoots better in the last few games from 2 ,more then 50% (and 12 points a game) , but his long range jumper is awful latly.
He should understand that they are the future of this club, and they should gain there confidence again.
