[Game] Game -7: Sacramento Kings @ Toronto Raptors, 10/5/14 4 PM pst, 7 PM est

The way some of you are talking, it's game one of the NBA Finals rather than the first game of preseason.

We're 24 minutes into a "game" in which Demarcus Cousins took a whopping two shots in 12 minutes.

Uh, what else would that unit be going against in the regular season? Which 2nd units are going to demolish Reggie-Landry?

If anything, they outplayed the Toronto 2nd unit bigs, not the other way around
You seem to be under the impression most teams go with a straight starter/bench swap, with bigs as poor as Toronto's bigs. Putting Landry/Evans out there for any decent period of time against teams with more size and post-up ability, or with a penetrating threat will see us have serious issues defending.

Lots of kinks to work out in this new motion offense. Otherwise this is playing out pretty much how I expected it to. Unless Ben or another kid makes a real leap, this is a team that lacks top-end talent but has depth.

How do you know?

Because i am watching the game, are you?

and those comments came after Ben got burned on defense and turned the ball over on a bad pass.

Just like the sarcastic "Nice move Ben" and "He's been working on his dribble drive game i see" comments on the last page which came after he almost traveled on an ugly spin move and threw up an air ball layup

Well, to be fair, we had to watch two seasons of Keith Smart doing just that.

Ben and JT's low bball IQ really makes stuff sloppy. Collison looks pedestrian, which seems to be what most here wanted. Bad part is guys like Lowry do nothing on the defensive end, at least IT and Sessions so far in this game put pressure on opposing PG's.

I missed the entire first half, can anyone tell me how the game went? From the stat box, looks like our starters sucked especially Ben. Our bench cleaned it up. Stauskas looked good shooting except for 3TOs.

Well there was summer league,
I'm not predisposed to look at summer league as a real thing. Plus it was three months or so ago.

... and just the overall ability of Nik compared to Ben.....
I guess that's what I'm doing differently from everyone else. I don't feel compelled to judge McLemore relative to Stauskas. I'm judging McLemore relative to himself. He looks better than he did last season to me. Not much better, but the season hasn't even started yet. Do I think he should start over Stauskas? I don't really care if he starts; I'm not a McLemore guy, and I'm not a Stauskas guy. But I do want to see more than one preseason game before decisions are made.

Collison's looked alright on the offensive end, been rather passive but still wound up with 4 assists and an offensive board. Having a guy in attack mode is good and that's what we having Sessions as our 6th man. With Rudy and Cuz out there though, you don't necessarily want attack dog 1 plowing into the key to simply "put pressure on opposing PGs".

Seems reasonable. :)

Two things that I really questioned throughout training camp happened in that first half.

1) Ben not being able to shoot. He still can't shoot. Stauskas has similar defensive issues, but either guy needs to hit a shot when they have it. Nik did, Ben didn't.

2) That gross double PF bench combo. Landry/Hayes all over again. That is why people have been advocating starting Evans. With that being said, I thought Hollins played well and within himself. He could jump Landry or Evans in the rotation, fixing the bench size issue.

Not the worst first half. None of the starters played well. JT was probably the best and he had his own issues. I don't expect Cousins and Gay to have this little impact on most nights.

And are we any different? So why jump on us for that? Cuz obviously won't be sitting out for 15 minutes in a half.

gotta keep telling myself "this is pre season" over and over again. Cause this junk by JT and Ben is bad...ben I can give more excuses for but dude JT....at least act like you have played in the NBA before!

And i would agree with that. All i said was i predict Stauskas will be starting soon.

Except that rainmaker's comments have been in response to a comment that was actually made (that our post defense "looks better" with Cousins and Thompson on the bench), and your comments appear to be in response to a comment that nobody made (that we aren't playing our "scrub" frontcourt, just the same as they are).

Does Nik look aggressive? In the summer league he seemed a bit passive for a guy who can shoot the lights out.
