Pretty much every advanced stat I've come across has Buddy as the superior player. I can't tell you what will happen 2-3 years down the line but right now he's better.

He's a bench player on GS or HOU but he's certainly not a bench player here. Can you imagine how much more competitive Cleveland would have been in the playoffs if they had Hield splashing down shots instead of JR Smith putting up brick after brick? I'm not saying Buddy is the second coming or anything but this guy is going to be better than a lot of people think.
It's interesting you say that because lately I was thinking the same thing about Hield and Bogs. I really liked Hield's trajectory last year. It was a straight line headed in a 45 degree angle going upward from left to right.

Bogs really flat-lined after a while. The speculation was that it was because he was tired because of all the prior european play. That may be. We'll have a better read on that come the fall.

One thing to keep in mind is that the statistics may be skewed because Hield was coming off the bench playing mostly against inferior competition. I don't want to go too far with this "inferior competition" excuse though because one would have to look at individual games to see who exactly he was up against. This coming year I'd like to see more occasions where Hield plays against starting two-guards; whether he does so when he starts or coming off the bench is immaterial to me. Then we can get an even better read on where he stands on this team and in the league.

Hez and Chandler would be just fine. A pick from Denver would have to be no lower than 15 so that would be a problem. Kings really don't need another mid-1st round pick with all of their young talent, but another pick could be used for other deals.

Yeah I was waiting for Bogdan to take off and I even remember people making threads about how Bogdan could potentially be a 20ppg scorer 1/2 way through the season. The other 1/2 of the season, Joerger let the young guys loose but Bogdan didn't take advantage of the scoring opportunity. Some guys just don't have that mentality.

It'll be interesting to see if Bogdan becomes more aggressive next year. If not, I could easily see Buddy overtaking him as our starter.

We have to keep in mind his tired legs and his knee injury as well. There’s no real point in debating it right now. We’ll know what his mentatlity is after this season.

in addition to the exhaustion wall he hit he also had the knee issue he was playing through I’m assuming given the timing of the surgery. another thing that probably affects the stats is that Bogdan spent more time than Buddy at SF which is not his position. they should both be better next year..

Rumors are that Indiana is interested in Gordon (Orlando one) and Thad Young has opted in, I wonder if that in any way makes Sabonis expendable (unless the Pacers trade young), I would offer a very decent package for a near elite role man who would be our starting C (he was a beast at C for a good chunk when Turner was injured) who is physical inside scorer/rebounder and has improving range and above average IQ. Turner and Sabonis rarely played together as well so.......
I’m a huge Sabonis fan. That ended up being a home run tradec for IND

That is probably a smart approach. Taking on a bad contract to get a pick next year and then maybe adding a young FA like Hezonja or someone who still might have some upside but hasn't shown much yet seems a wise course of action. Can we take on Wilson Chandler? He might actually help the team and still be an expiring vet SF.
W. Chandler sucks though. I know it's not a in depth review but his production is trending downwards.

What about James Young? former 1st round pick by the Celtics a couple years ago. 23yearold 6'7 230lb SF. He spent most of last year in the Gleague with the Sixers. Put up good stats. (GLeague competition is very easy)

39 games: 33mins 20.7pts 5.1rebs 2.7asts 2.1tos 1.5stls on 42.4/35.1/81.3

I think he could be worth a flyer. Still young and he'll be cheap.

There a tough read because they probably fancy themselves as contenders.
I'm sure they do. They are about to give Jokic that big deal and they are already over $100M for this coming year and they missed the playoffs last year. I think given their situation they would much rather give up a pick than Porter who supposedly has top of the lottery talent.

Still think the Kings offer Parker all of their cap space... that's my guess right now. Think LaVine is plan B, Hez plan C.

He may sign it too as the Kings will be offering him a lead scoring role and plenty o' minutes.

We need to spend 8.6 mil to get to the 90% cap floor
Please use that to get Hezonja Signed right away

That leaves us with 10 mil in cap space, 1 open roster spot
just in case a trade presents itself between July to Feb
Flexability for future trades, we fill the hole at SF
If enough FA's become desparate at the end of the summer
maybe we get a bargain? or a team needs our cap to make
a play for a FA this summer.

Get what we really need - but stay flexable!!!!!!!

Giving Parker all of our cap space would be the equivalent of drafting fraudulent fraudster MPJ at #2. I think we'd like to sign Mario and LaVine but may have to settle for just Mario.

So if we send RFA offer to Parker, he signs 7/6 after 72 hrs its 7/9 for a match, if we send offer to Lavine its 7/12 before Bulls Match

I just think Hezonja signs with someone before then

Parker looked pretty good after coming back
and had few strong playoff games for Milwuakee. Most importantly, He doesn’t move or explode like a guy whos had his injury history. He’s still young. He just turned 23.

However, I’m just not sure he’s really a SF and I want things to open up for Giles, Bagley, and Skal. I know that we want to start winning some games this year but we still have to make sure our prospects get some real burn.

He’s def intriguing. The injury concerns coupled with his potential contract demand concerns me as does his ability to play SF. F it, just do it. Would be entertaining at least

When you watch him get to the basket it's usually with slow guys guarding him.

LaVine is interesting because he is a good slasher who can get to the basket in the half court - a skill non of the current Kings wings have. And one that's needed. He's still just 23 and has star potential.

But he's also not a SF, is coming off injury, would require all of the Kings caproom (and CHI still might match) but most importantly, he's inconsistent and has not developed skill wise like he should have at this point.

I'd be more okay with LaVine than Parker. Parker is a bigger injury risk and to me is a 4 who could even play some small ball 5 and if Giles is healthy, there's no minutes to be had at PF/C.

If Hezonja doesn't cost too much I like him because he's a more natural SF than the other two, would fit well in Joerger's offense and has the ability to slide to the 4 if the Kings want to finish games with Fox/Buddy/Bogie/Mario and a big - likely Giles, Bagley or WCS.

The Kings offense needs a reliable stretch four if it wants to work. Some of the best offense the Kings got last year was with Vince playing small ball four.

The Kings have a ton of bigs, but they're all the same lean, athletic types and only Skal seems to have much touch from outside. Bagley might but he's better as a lob target. Skal also seemed scared to shoot sometimes, wasting his chance on a bunch of useless moves. They need a guy who will take the open three when its there without hesitation.

That might make Hezonja the best option since he's got some size.

They might just be looking at Parker as a stretch 4. We can platoon the SF spot with Bogi/Shump/Temple, and clear up some of the big logjam with a S&T for Parker. The Bucks don’t want him back, and we could offer an expiring + Skal or JJ. At season’s opening Parker would start next to WCS, and then we bring the Wet Bandits off the bench. One of Harry/Marv supplants WCS by January.

The Kings need to just concentrate on realistic free agent targets. They need get a good younger Small Forward.

That means they need to go hard and focused on a younger player with upside and preferably an unrestricted free agent like Mario Hezonja, Jerami Grant or Doug McDermott.

I know that was how Geoff Petrie built the early 2000s Kings, by finding undervalued guys with upside, like Doug Chritie, Bobby Jackson, Scot Pollard.

Don't waste precious time on flirting with players like Zach Lavine, Arron Gordon, Julius Randall, and Jabari Parker. The chances of signing those players are slim and most likely the Kings would just be used as leverage to get those guys better deals elsewhere.

It is essential that the Kings get a small forward either in free agency or through a trade. You can't thrive in today's NBA without a good starting small forward.
