Elden Campbell

Elden Campbell was waived by Utah...however Campbell's agent, Richard Howell, said would have to pay roughly $2.3 million, about half of his $4.4 million salary. The Nets would use their $5.128 million trade exception to claim him. Only teams under the cap could claim him, with worst record going first: so the Nets would have second shot behind Charlotte.

well, if the Kings could make a run for another big guy for the center position, like Campbell, it will be a very good addition. just remember in the Nets game, Brad Miller played very well on the PF position (and seems to be comfortable playing in it, remember when we had Vlade (C) and BM on PF he racked up numbers of tripple doubles) and if we can put someone like Campbell on the C position Kings could be ok and by any means solid in case CWebb goes out with another season ending injury..which most likely is any time soon..i hope not...just as an insurance for the Kings....just don't know the numbers if the Kings can pull this off...

sign campbell, trade otag for payton

if the kings can some how sign elden campbell, if he clears waivers... i would trade otag for gary payton... the reason this would work, is otag is not playing very many minutes right now, and campbell can easily replace otags production off the bench... campbel is very much the same player as otag, except with more offense... he can rebound and block shots too...

this will do two things for the maloofs... it will take them off the hook for the $4.5 million option that otag has for next year... and give the kings two veteran players for the playoff push who's contract is up after this season, allowing the maloofs to save more money for next season, while improving their team this season... the kings will get a HOF 3rd guard to replace bjax and a veteran center who won a championship last year...

GO KINGS!!!

If we have Campbell and Payton on the Kings roster...wow, that could be something...makes us better defensively and offensively as well both at front and backcourts compared to what we have now...with Otag and Bjax injured...

Who isn't better than Tag offensively? But honestly, i have appreciated the effort, and so far, the production from Tag. I'll tell you what, i used to hate the guy, but now i have quite a bit of respect for him. Besides Cambell would not change as many shots as Tag has done this year, not saying that Tag plays all that much, but when he does, he changes quite a bit.

From the Boston Perspective

I know Ainge isn't known for making very good trades and all, but why on earth would Boston want Otag? They already have 3 Centers on their roster, although 1 is on the IL. This trade makes zero sense for Boston.

7 footers are hard to come by... especially ones that have been productive in the league... Boston will get something for payton before they lose him for nothing at the end of the season, plus they get someone to clog the lanes with otag...plus otag is 5 years younger than payton

The Celtics do not want Ostertag and they definitely don't want to trade their starting point guard to get a guy like Ostertag, who they wouldn't use very much. They're already trying to find ways and situations to use Al Jefferson more in, usually at the expense of Mark Blount. If they trade Payton for Ostertag, what they're basically doing is giving Payton away for free.

We don't want Elden. He sucks and he's been subpar for a few years now. He doesn't block shots or rebound very well and his offense is overrated. He's like Ostertag in that you're not going to put the ball into his hands very often, but unlike Ostertag, he doesn't stick to the high-percentage shot attempts.

A guy like ostertag comes in handy when you play a guy name shaq in the playoffs. And in my mind there is only a couple centers that can do a decent job gaurding him one was sabonis and the other is Ostertag. Now when i say good job i mean holding him to 25 pts a game and thats good during the playoffs i am not saying he can play 40+mins but he can for sure help. Celtics would be smart to get him but not at the exspense of losing payton.

Tag is a great guy to have on our team. I really think he is trying hard to succeed in Sac, and has made a good friend in Miller. I say keep Tag.

I'm with Gary. Tag has been good when he gets time (most of the time). Cambell is a nice 7 footer, but we already have two guys about that tall (Miller and Webb) who are much better at doing what Cambell does.

"KINGS are 4-0 when Webber does not play.

The Kings average 109.5 points per game when Webber does not play."

Your sig is so misleading. Wins against Charlotte, New Orleans, Denver and New Jersey.....all at home......do not exactly make a good case for his effectiveness or whether or not the team plays better without him.

LOL I knew someone would comment on my sig.. It's ok though, I just put it in there as a joke to my neighbor here at work who pointed out the same things almost as fast as you did Ryle..

Didn't they lose against New Orleans WITH Webber? I actually like that fact. The offense was so beautiful those four games.

Or to put it more succinctly:

Combined Opponents' Records When Webber Does Not Play: 48-115, .294 , and all at home. I mean, duh.

On the road, yes.

The 4 teams they beat without him were all at home and they all suck......the offense should look good.

Back to point though:

Elden has really looked done these last few years. He's still a more skilled dplayer than Tag, although to tell you the truth Tag's passing has been a bit of a revelation and somebody is going to have tear the ball from Elden's dead rigid hands when they bury him because he does NOT give it up for any reason to anyone.
Difference between the two of them at this point is that Tag is still an effective rotation/spot player. Still a guy with a standout ability (shotblocking). While Elden is one of those guys who's the 5th big man at this point. Old, not in the best of shape, just shadows of the skills he once had. he's just an experienced body, but there's no conceivable situation where you'd ever actually want to play him significant minutes. All he's capable of doing anymore is being that emergency 12th man type in case of injury or whatnot. No longer much of an offensive threat, not a shotblocker anymore, never much of rebounder. Just big. And old.

soooooo true - I'd like to see Sacto win a championship w/o Webb or for that matter a single game against a team that can do some damage.

You LIKE the fact they lost? Or you like the fact that Webber played and they lost? Either way, that's just freaking sad.

LOL my sig is a joke towards my work neighbor :D don't take it to heart. I am going to keep it in there until we lose w/o Webber..

I KNOW we give Webber the day off when an easy team comes in that we could spank with our 2nd team guys anyway :D

If that's the lasting impression of you that you want to leave people with, knock yourself out.

This is the internet.. Why does it matter?

Also, it is a joke for someone I work with that comes to this site.. I am sorry you don't have a sense of humor.

I cannot believe the number of threads that get hijacked around here.

Elden Campbell on the Kings? God, I hope not. I still find it very bothersome that we have to even consider some of the NBA detritus although it's the one missing piece to our puzzle.

rexb_kings - Tag isn't injured.

Hahahaha...you're right, it IS a joke.

And, as Brick pointed out, the joke is NOT what YOU think it is, but everybody else here probably got it. :D
Carry on...
