Draft picks and their potential fit with Evans/Cousins

The reason I like Porter is that he's going to fit with anybody, which is one element that makes him even more valuable. He doesn't have to have other players that fit him.

I wouldn't even consider fit in this draft. If you get somebody good regardless of fit, consider yourself fortunate. Petrie obviously concerned himself with fitting Tyreke with the Jimmer and Salmons and that didn't turn out so well.

No argument from me on Porter. As for Jimmer and Salmons. It was reported that Westphal wanted Salmons because he wanted an experienced SF and was tired of Casspi and Greene. So Petrie accommdated him. I think Jimmer was a Maloof choice for various reasons.

I don't know about this... Jimmer seemed like a Beno replacement to me. Still might be... I'd love to see Porter/Tyreke/Jimmer on the floor together. Jimmer clearly needs two other defensive minded guys playing alongside of him to mask his glaring deficiency there. And Tyreke sharing ball handling would go along way to cover up his inadecquecies in that area as well. But his shooting and passing ability would fit perfectly next to Tyreke with Porter at the three imo. Admittedly I still hold out a ton of hope for Jimmer as I think he's gonna make another leap forward this year... could be dead wrong, can't wait to see!

A lot of you all are missing the point here. The Kings draft #7 and if no trade ups or down are made, it is 99% that McLemore, Noel, Porter and Oladipo are gone by the 5th pick much less the 7th. Burke, Zeller, McCollum, Len and others should be around at #7 and as all the pundits have said, none are a difference maker. In my oversimplification the Kings need a SF who is a 18/5 guy, a real PG and a backup SG who can score and defend. Otherwise, IMHO they trade and go after FA's.

I think every team needs a glue guy, and for us I think its MCW. I started off this draft wanting Schroeder, but MCW just has a more complete package. Yes he can't shoot and has difficulty scoring, but shooting can always be improved, and we don't need him to score a ton anyway. The guy is a gifted passer, is a good rebounder, and has huge size for a PG. I read on here that he has small hands, but I am not sure where that came from. Regardless, a little more practice with his handle, a lot more practice on his jump shots, and the kid will have a great all around game. The only negative is his age (21 currently), but he isn't exactly 30 years old. If we draft him, the SF has to be filled with a great shooter. He would be able to fit in nicely with Tyreke and Cousins. He can hit Tyreke on cuts to the lane and drop off pass teams to death with Cousins. Shooting will have to improve, but thats a solid trio of players to build around.

Really no need nor room for an 18 and 5 guy. Too many guys who need shots as is.

Now get me a 12 and 7 guy with some defense and I am heading toward happy. Also, shotblocker. Shotblocker. Shotblocker. Shotblocker. And finally a regime who may actually go after one.

I assume that your referring to last season and not to this season, when McCollum only played in around 10 or so games before being injuried. Bucknell won the Patriot league this year, and even without McCollum, Lehigh almost pulled it. But Bucknell and Muscala prevailed. The two schools have a great rivialry going.

Yes, last year's game where Lehigh best Bucknell. McCollum had a very strong game with 28 or 29 points. I didn't see any of McCollum's games this year.

I like Schroeder but I don't see him and Tyreke being as effective as possible playing together. What Bricklayer said a 12/7 guy with some nice defense, basicaly a future role player/decent starter. It could be Alex Len, playing next to COusins.

I think Brick meant a 12/7 SF, which sounds like a player like Aminu or Shawn Marion.

I think a tall shooter is more important for us, so I like Mike Dunleavy Jr. the best, and I echo the need for a true intimidator/shot blocker to anchor the defense.

Odds are that one out of Noel, Porter, McLemore and Oladipo will be a complete bust and another will be a disappointment but still a player. Again, every draft people get caught up in the idea of a top tier of "can't miss" prospects with a big drop off after them and every draft guys taken outside if those consensus top picks end up being better players.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bennett is the best player from this draft or surprised if he never does much of anything.

The Kings might miss on him but odds are there WILL be a very good or star player at #7

The chatter certainly seems to indicate that the Kings are looking to either move back in the draft, pick up a second 1st rounder or both.

I really like Snell's game and especially how it would compliment Evans and DMC so the notion a couple weeks ago that we could snag him in the 2nd round was tantalizing. But it seems clear he's going in the 1st round. Perhaps if Burke drops to 7 the Jazz would trade #14 and#21 for him. Snell and Dieng/Nogueira sounds good to me. A Snell/Evans backcourt would be long, defensively potent and complimentary in terms of skills sets. Dieng/Nogueira would likewise compliment Cousins with weak side shotblocking and little need for the ball in their hands. Add a guy like Dorrell Wright as a FA small forward and grab a depth player in the second round and you have the beginnings of a nice squad.

AND you have Thorton, Jimmer, Salmons (and his ending contract) and possibly Patterson as trade bait to tweak and improve the roster. Nice.

I really think his game will translate very well in the NBA, especially if he's a SG. Not ball dominant, great length and good athleticism, better ball handling than most seem to realize, great shooting mechanics with NBA range and a very good individual defender with the potential to be great as a team defender as well.

He's a bit more raw than I'd like for a guy coming out as a junior which makes me question if he'll reach his potential, but otherwise I like him, especially as a compliment to Reke/DMC.

If Snell your main target, you're shooting really low. There's quite a few more talented guards - there's no way you project him SF given how soft he plays.
