Low level prospect that checks the same boxes as most of our signings. Long, defensive minded but also a good passer from the 2 spot. Below average athlete and shooter.
Your looking at things through your Celtic green tinted glasses.....stop with the Cuz BS and how ****ing Jaylen Brown would be the first name listed in any trade proposal for Cousins. Ridiculous.
It's all going to be ok now, we claimed Lamar Patterson! Seriously, when is Ben going to be traded? Everything points to him being traded. Sure would like to know what is going on behind closed doors with Vlade.

2 years ago my grandmother knew what the Kings were doing and she hasn't watched a single second of basketball in her life. Now, any sort of news and we over-analyze to the point of going bat**** crazy, in addition to hoping to hear something of value.
Lamar Patterson is essentially a training camp invite. His salary isn't guaranteed for next season so the Kings can waive him if he doesn't impress in camp. Completely low risk move.
Oh and Quincy Acy just signed with Dallas. 2 year deal for the minimum.

The article suggested Brown and Rozier for Gay. I guess we value Gay differently. Are you Jeykesy Baruelo the writer of the article I commented on? You have to be because there is no one else on earth who thinks Boston would do a trade like this.
In reference to the Cuz BS, last month we just saw KD leave a really good OKC team and 3X Heat champ Dwyane Wade switch teams in free agency. Players are going to be recruiting Cuz in free agency. Is it that crazy to start to think about the possibility of trading him? I would sure hate to see him walk for nothing and have to bank on Big Papa leading the team to a playoff spot.

The bashing of @CelticsFan is showing a lot of poster's true colors.
In no way was he insinuating Brown & Rozier was enough in a trade for Cousins. All he was saying was that Brown & Rozier are much more value than Gay and would be assets that would be moved for a better player (like Cousins).
And he's totally right. Brown & Rozier are way more value than Gay. It might not be smart if we want to compete this year, but we'd be getting way more value in return.

Since Jaylen Brown is completely incompetent offensively, I don't actually think he's a possible return anyway. That was a dubious selection at #3. And while we may be able and even interested in taking back roleplayers for Rudy, there's no way this team can afford to lose an 18ppg scorer for a guy who could easily average 5ppg on sub .500TS%
If the Celtics really had to sacrifice Crowder in order to get Blake, that's the sort of thing we could do. Give up on the idea of a #2 scorer, but retain solid roleplaying scoring so Cuz doesn't have to average 30 so long as the defense is as good as Joerger hopes.

Cousins isn't going anywhere and certainly not to Boston, we know that LOL
and anything after the first 2 picks in that weak draft aren't to be taken seriously until they step foot on an NBA court. "3rd overall pick" sounds valuable but it really isn't as valuable as many people would like to
believe. The Celtics already tried pulling a 2007 again on draft night, trading a bunch of "assets" away for superstars and those plans quickly fell flat

Crowder was one of the most improved players last year, he was outstanding on the defensive end for the Celtics and did ok on offense, he is on a very valuable contract.
Rozier is a young, athletic PG prospect, that hasn't shown much so far, but came in a few times during the season and did well. Not a player I'm exited about, but certainly NBA level talent.
If Crowder is able to sustain his production he will give you great D for 3 positions, switching ability, good unselfish ball movement and around 10-15 ppg.
So we are talking about a very good starting SF/small ball PF and a potential backup/3rd string PG for Rudy Gay on a one year deal. That's awful?
I know Rudy will give us around 17-20ppg and his ability to create his own shot. But he is up for an extension and is a below average defender due to his lack of intensity and hustle on that end.
We won't be able to beat teams with our talent alone like OKC with Russ and KD and we won't be able to aquire that kind of talent with our available assets. Therefore the key lies in finding a system, that allows us to cover for our lack of talent, a system that allows roleplayers to step up.
Usually those kind of systems start on the defensive end - so every player in the unit should be a +defender. On offense it's usually ball movement,screens and cuts, that create a lot of open looks, that even role players can convert over countless isolation hero ball plays.
The Celtics managed to get into the Playoffs doing just that - defend, move the ball, take what the D gives you. IT was their only guy able to make 1vs1 plays. I'm pretty confident, that Cousins as the only guy able to make 1vs1 plays is vastly superior than IT.
It's a risk, because we don't know if Cuz is able to stay healthy, but this team fell apart, when Cousins went down no matter, if Gay was on the roster or not.
Celtics have a top-3 NBA coach in terms of putting his players in the best possible role to succeed. And Kings had a ghost.

Now we have Joerger. So what's the point?
Crowder still is the way better defender than Gay. He is still capable of scoring between 10-15ppg. Yes the risk when trading for Crowder is, that he may regress to his pre Celtics level.
But Gay on the other hand is an expiring contract. Do you want to resign Gay for something around 20 millions/year? Do you think he looks forward to remain in SAC, after all the turmoil? And even if we manage to resign him, Gay still is a negative on the defensive end, he still isn't a ball mover and with him being 30 years old, handing out a long term deal to him might be risky.
Besides - do you honestly expect Joerger to build a top notch defensive team without top notch defensive players, because last time I checked our current roster Boogie still was our best defender by far.
You think hiring 36 year old Barnes (who I like as a player), end of bench players Temple/Tolliver and Afflalo, whose best years are maybe behind him, is enough to change the outlook of this team?
Those players have the right mindset. I see the reasoning behind the signings. But they don't have the quality we need to really turn into those tough, scrappy, grind it out team everyone here is talking about.
Crowder or Smart on the other hand are good enough on the defensive end, to really move the needle for us.
If all it takes to get those guys is expiring Rudy Gay, we can count ourselves lucky.
