So this is all great and everything but does this really mean we likely
get to keep the team here? They could still vote to approve the move just because they want a city in Seattle. I'm still scared!

I simply don't see how they can leave Sacramento now. The NBA really needs to start thinking expansion. If they want a 2nd team to go with Seattle, go with Vancouver then you have all 3 recently abandoned markets back in the game. And of course you keep Sacramento in the game in the process.

Amazing night for kings fans and tons of good news here. My only concern is the Mastrov vs Hansen/balmer pockets, in terms of the bid, attractiveness to other billionaire owners and the ability to compete with them. I'm slightly anxious about that but overall a great night.
I think that's fair. That is he weak point, especially after the Maloofs ran out of money and turned inot an embarrassment. Hopefully all the trappings surrounding it make up for it and/or there is a partner (burkle himself maybe) chipping in directly to the team purchase as well.

Exactly. This is what concerns me as well. Obviously the right the to do is to keep the team in Sac but we are dealing with lots of others billionaire owners and they may view Mastrov as a "poor" NBA owner.

I would really relax on saying that Seattle are out of this. It's not over by a long shot. We did everything that was asked of us and more, so the right outcome clearly is to have the Kings remain here. However life isn't fair and stranger things have happened. I'm optimistic, but cautiously so. This could still go either way. Though there is no legitimate argument that anyone could put forward for moving the team at this point (I know Seattle fans will dispute this, but frankly they're biased, and I don't care. We're biased too, but the facts favour us in a landslide to anyone who observes the hard facts). But I'd be cautious, or it will be even more gut wrenching if the unthinkable happens.
Sorry, I'm gonna party like it's 1985 and worry about it not happening if and when it doesn't happen. So there. ;)

Mastrov sold 24 Hour Fitnesss Center for $1.6 billion. He needs to "only" buy the Maloof's portion of the team. I believe he bid $420 million for the Warriors so he has enough money to buy the Maloof's portion. Also the 25 or so local people chipping in a million or so apiece lowers what Mastrov has to come up with. They will try to buy the portion in banckruptcy unless I heard it wrong. I presume if they don't have the entire amount to buy that portion that Mastrov would make up the difference. I'd rather that the deeper pocketed Burkle owned the Kings but there are some conflict of interests issues involved none of which I remember.

The announcement of the Rock blew me away. He still feels attached.

Chill folks. There's enough money to run a team and the income should be better, don'tcha think. :)

Now onto some of the nitty gritty but critical details. Like how is quarter million dollars that city had approved for parking concession for what is now dead "Railyard arena" going to play into new downtown mall arena project. Which can't start until team is sold to Mastrov. If the city wants a partnership with Burkle is parking concessions the way to get it - or something else. Is Mastrov bid for entire 65% Maloof ownership of Kings or is city partnering with him in some way as well - like Natomas property? Hopefully, Mastrov bid will be made public or at least overall details spelled out soon - very soon. Mastrov is key since Burkle can't do much unless BoG of NBA approve him over Hanson-Ballmer Seattle group.

We need to have a little bit more patience. Now that the potential ownership group has been made public, they will begin the negotiations with the city to answer those questions to the satisfaction of the city council AND the NBA.

I have the utmost faith in how KJ is handling this. It is truly reminiscent of how Clinton's campaign (which was in part choreographed by Chris Lehane - sound familiar?) led to his success.

Not OK.

Personal attacks are against this "sports fan board."

Stop posting douchey things.
You guys know the rules. If you have a complaint or feel a post was inappropriate, use the "refer a post" option. In this instance, it was one comment in the heat of the moment. If people didn't continue to bring it up, it would already be ancient history.

We've got a lot to celebrate right now. We're not dead in the water and the moving vans aren't parked outside of STA. Let's focus on that and get past the sniping.

I'm going to cut the mayor a break on whatever possible mis-step or mis-spoke he made regarding return of WNBA to Sac. Maybe he wrote it into his brilliant presentation or an aide lobbied for the mention just to appease some part of a rather large constituency:)

I'd heard he was worth 350 M which is obviously a ton of cash but not by owner standards and very little compared to the Seattle guys. As a fan, I think the plan looks amazing. As a business man, there is a big hole I'm concerned the BOG will fixate on

You're right! Didn't mean to put a dampener on it! We should celebrate for now. It's a good night to be a Kings fan. It really couldn't have gone any better and that's all we can ask for at the moment! :D

Thats also what ive read. $350 million net worth is nothing in NBA terms. I hope there is more to this.
Your right that if this is it the BOG will hold this against us. Why wouldn't they? They don't want another potential maloof situation.

Mastrov is worth far, far more than 350m. He wouldn't even be in the conversation for buying an NBA team if that was his worth. Relax, and try not to worry. :) It's out of our hands now, we've done everything we can!

EDIT: Since someone else mentioned it too, maybe it is true... I'd just find that very hard to believe. Where did you guys hear that?

People are missing the point. He never said Burkle wasn't going to be part owner of the Kings, but that could be due to buying AEG etc. It also removes the Maloofs from saying we won't sell to Burkle.

I've thought this as well and would love clarification on this point. Those deeper pockets, even in a limited capacity, would be a big equalizer for the BOG.

A little research. Again, its good money but its closer to Maloof family value than Burkle or the massive Seattle worth.

My question at this point would be how the revenue for games at the arena is going to be divided if Burkle is commiting the capital to build the arena but isn't a part of the ownership group for the Kings. But that's something for the relevant parties to discuss and agree on. I would guess that the arena deal KJ and the city planners previously negotiated with the NBA would be used as a model there for what's appropriate.
