Los Angeles Lakers:

1. How does Deng arrive in Los Angeles without leaving Chicago?

2. If Chicago wouldn't give up Deng for Bryant straight up, why would they give him up to take Bryant and Kenny F. Thomas?

Why we don't: Are you kidding? Artest + Wallace = nuclear holocaust...or really badass defense.
Yeeeeeah... I'm putting my money on nuclear holocaust...

The article today by Chris Sheridan on ESPN only talks about the Lakers and Bulls talking and working out details. Nothing is mentioned about the Kings anymore, so I think we're pretty much out of it.

if Artest goes to Chicago then Deng can go to LA without Bryant vetoing it
Please explain a little further...I think I know where you are going with this, but not sure.

It would put Kobe and Artest on the same team like they have said they always wanted. Would Chicago's FO be willing to risk team chemistry for two said head-cases? Who would Chicago be willing to send our way and to LA.

Artest has been our trade piece in most rumors. But the rumors have him going to LA. LA really wants Luol Deng though, whom the Bulls will trade for Kobe, but if Kobe gets traded for Deng, he vetoes the trade because he wants to play with Deng. If Deng goes to LA and Artest goes to Chicago, Kobe probably won't veto the trade because even though he won't have Deng, he'll have Artest.

That's where I thought you were going...and nice thinking I might add. I wonder who Chicago would give-up? Personally, I would love to get Noah for Artest. Maybe Chicago sends Gordon and/or Wallace to LA in addition to Deng?

Hinrich, Kobe and Artest in the same line-up would be pretty impressive.

Problem is, that just increases the pieces that Chicago has to give away in trade. Instead of only Kobe coming in, now it's Kobe and Ron.

i did the trade machine on espn:

Chicago Out:
Hinrich
Wallace
Deng
Noah

Chicago In
Bryant
Artest
SAR

LAL Out:
Kobe Bryant
Vujacic
Bynum
Farmar

LAL In:
Deng
Hinrich
Wallace

Sac Out:
Artest
SAR

Sac In:
Noah
Farmar
Vujacic
Bynum

it worked on ESPN. Everyone gets what they want, although I'm not sure the Bulls wanna give up Hinrich and Deng, but they'd be awesome. We get to really jump start a rebuild with youngsters

Almost missed it the first time around, there's something wrong with Bibby and Fisher being teammates. It cringes my nerve.

yeah... that would be weird... like webber and horry being on the same team... or doug and fox...

Heh, oops. Deng is there, I just forgot to type his name in.

If Chicago wouldn't trade Luol Deng for the best player in the game right now then they are idiots. I don't know where you heard that but it seems kinda blasphemous. And it is not like they would be trading Deng to get Bryant and KT. They would be trading Hinrich and Gordon for Bryant and Farmar, and they would be trading Wallace and Khryapa for Miller and Thomas. One is lopsided for and the other is lopsided against. But they have the depth to compensate for Miller and Thomas' shortcomings. I've already reasoned why it wouldn't be too bad to take on Thomas and Miller, but here it is again:

- Miller and Thomas could see higher production in the East.
- Miller gives them more offense other than Kobe and Ty.Thomas can make up for Miller's lack of everything.
- Kenny will be playing for a team with a legit shot at the title, so he won't cause much rucus.
- Kobe's contract is for 3 more years, so contractually they will have a team that will be competitive for the next 3 years and they will have a bunch of money to work with when the contracts are up.
- They can afford to lose Deng because they have Niocioni inked for 5 years.

This trade accommodates Kobe, who wants to have a defensive SF next to him so he doesn't nix the trade??? Chicago plays for the "now" by giving up a piece of the "future". LAL gets good talent in return for Kobe. Sac makes out like bandits...again, although this time we don't ditch KT.

The trade works and proof is here:

BawLa. You do know that Bulls are trying to move forward not backward? :)

Why would they want Brad Miller and Ron Artest back? They had Artest and Miller on the team 5 years ago.

Hehe. :D

Kobe wasn't on that team.

EDIT: Kobe\Artest has Jordan\Pippen written all over it. And that is something the Bulls fans can get into.

This morning on 1140, they said Kobe wouldn't go to Chicago (veto) if Deng wasn't going to be there. He wants to play with Deng. (They did not state their source, or I didn't catch it.)
Sheridan has an article on ESPN.com that basically states this.

I find this whole Kobe thing beyond ridiculous at a certain point.

1) trade me because you are losers and went back on your word! By the way trade that kid we hae at center. He sucks too. In fact all my teammates suck.

2) what!!? You dared to say you would actually trade me! I'm not showing up to practice.

3) And you can only trade me to the teams I want to go to. Namely two.

4) And you can also only trade me to one of those two teams in a deal I approve, where they get to keep all their best players.

At the point that Kobe gets them down over that barrel again, the Lakers should just say **** you at some point and send down word form the front office that he gets to be Sasha Vukacic's 10min/gm backup for the next two years until he either cracks and gets reasonable or just decides to do something stupid and lets them suspend him withotu pay.

Kobe is the only player in the NBA with a trade veto clause...and because of how he's holding the Lakers hostage you will never see it again.

....and these are but a few of the reasons that I would not want Kobe to play here even if he agreed to play for free.

You can't blame Kobe for his contract. This is ALL on Mitch Kupcheck and Dr Bus. THEY agreed to his ridicouls demands. Hell if Kobe had wanted a Unicorn they would have had every vet in So Cal trying to Xenograft a horn on some poor pony. Now Kobe is just excercising the power THEY gave him.

Yes you can balme Kobe. Having the no trade is one thing. Abusing it is another. There is some sort of gentleman's agreement there when somebody gives you a power that nobody else has -- namely that you won't use it to screw over the person who gave it to you.

Which is again why it is such a good thing for Kobe that I don't own that franchise. I would damage my franchise to squash his career. You're concerned about your prime going down the tubes Kobe? See how it feels to sit out the last of your prime years at the back of the bench. You cause trouble, you won't get paid for it either. And if at some point you want to get reasonable, you can indicate it to me by walking into my office on your knees and kissing my ***.
