Big Trade Rumor

I don't think that he would even decline comment. Declining almost certainly means that something is up, and being the vice president of the Lakers, he does not want to upset players.
 
That article was before the 3rd team rumor on the radio in Chicago.

The third team being us.

If the Lakers can get Hinrich, Gordon, and Artest.....



Um I think there doing it.

Why do the lakers give up Crittenton instead of Farmar?

That was from this morning before this new report popped up -- in fact that article is actually why I think this new rumor makes sense. The Bulls won't give up Luol Deng, so a third team (us) iis brought in to give them a similar type SF in Ron Artest.

Guess we'll see. But it makes a lot of sense for everybody involved.

1) Lakers now have two young PGs, don't need both, especially not with both Fisher and Heinrich to run the PG the next few years.

2) Skiles has clashed with Thomas, and with Nocioni, Noah, Smith, and Wallace, has lots of frontcourt options.

3) Lakers wanted Deng -- physical, defensive SF. Get Artest instead.

4) Kings get young PG they do not have, and cna move him right in and let him show his stuff while Bibby is out. If he looks good, clears way for Bibby trade at deadline.

5) Kings get young PF of the future,a dn for first time can claim to potentially have a full young lineup of the future (in one scenario): Farmar, Kevin, Cisco, Thomas, Hawes with Douby, Khryapa and maybe Justin off the bench. The vets are rendered superflorous. Throw in another lottery pick + whatever we can get for a Bibby or Brad or whatever...you are beginning to see the light at the other end of the tunnel

O.K. you kind of have me there....and I mean "kind of." He only had 5 pts and 4 boards per game last year. Those are average numbers at best. But I do understand that he is only 21 and has a lot of potential.

Because I don't think we'd get the best deal possible. They can spare Crittenton, who would be their 4th PG after Hinrich, Fisher, Farmar, but I think our leverage would be limited.

Maybe i'm getting my facts mixed up, but signed rookies can't be traded until December 15th, right? Anyway, I think the Lakers would rather give up Farmar rather than Crittenton; at least Crittenton can play combo, so if the glut of PGs does exist, he can move over one position.

I think the basketball point is a good one, but draft picks can be traded 30 days after signing their contract.

Hmmm...not sure on that point.

If that were true, it would certainly dictate the terms of the trade -- then it would obviously be Farmar (who had a very good summer BTW) and Thomas, not Critterton or Noah.

Tyrus Thomas is so much better than anyone we have at PF right now. So much better. And he's, what, 21 years old?

I think the Lakers actually get better in that trade than they are now. Quite a bit better actually.

I'm not as high on Tyrus Thomas. I think he's a tweener type PF. Noah compliments Hawes well and is a true 6'10-6'11 size. He does all the same things that Tyrus does, but is probably a better rebounder. I just like Noah's game better than Tyrus' game. Personal prefence really. Value-wise they're about the same.

I think the Lakers would have to take on Kenny's deal for Kwame for it to be REALISTIC. Artest isn't that far of a drop off of Kobe in terms of talent...adding Gordon AND Hinrich that trio IS DEFINITELY better than Kobe by himself.

When Tyrus Thomas is past 30 and starts to lose his athleticism he will be more like a tweener because of his size. Until then his freakish athleticism and strength more than makes up for it.

And it will be 10 years until he turns 30.

Would think there was a certain amount of justice to the Lakers Kobe problems turning into a way for us to launch our belated rebuild.

Any chance anybody involved might also want a slightly used 6'7" PF with a long term $7mil a year deal? :p
 
Interesting idea. Its a toss up between Tyrus Thomas and Noah though. Thomas is a bit more athletic and 6 months younger, but he does not have the size that Hoah has and I wonder about his basketball IQ. I'd say Thomas' ceiling (sp?) is a bit higher, but the rule about trading rookies might make this a non-issue.

Sorry, NBRANS still don't know how to make your quote highlighted. Anyhow I had to go on record saying I absolutely positively disagree with you on this. There is not ONE THING Artest can do on a basketball court as well as Kobe -- not even close IMO. Don't care for Kobe, but geez to compare them is a pretty large mismatch.

I also would prefer Thomas over Noah. Noah plays with heart, but shoots a basketball like he's got his arms on backwards.

Trade rumors involving Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant coming to the Bulls just won't go away. In fact, they are getting hotter and heavier by the minute.

The latest, as reported by WSCR 670-AM, has Bryant coming to the Bulls as part of a three-way deal involving the Sacramento Kings.

Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich and Kings forward Ron Artest, a former Bulls, could wind up in Los Angeles.

The rumor was also being discussed on WMVP 1000-AM.

A Bulls source denied any deal was imminent.

Okay, okay, I take my original comment back. It was stupid in retrospect - just a knee-jerk reaction, if you will.

I just saw 2 more guys that were 6'9" and thought to myself that being 6'5" - 6'9" must be some new requirement to be a King.
 
Okay, I'm going to let this coast a little while longer, but will definitely move it an hour before gametime if there's nothing more definite so as to keep the focus on the game.

I'm so excited about the prospect of a change I'm messed up. Gonna call directv and get my NBA package back and pull the door that VF slammed on my fingers back open.

Deep down I wanna root for the Kings just couldn't stomach another year without at least an attempt to improve. Please just trade for...anybody!
