Big Trade Rumor

How about trading Artest + SAR + Watkins to LA for Odom + Mihm + Cook.
Salarywise, it matches and we can get rid of a whining old guy who maybe valuable enough for the Lakers who need some low post scorers.

Lakers will have a more playoff ready team with Bynum, SAR, Artest, Kobe, Fisher. And the Kings with Brad, Odom, Salmons, Martin, Bibby/Udrih(for the mean time) may just be enough to contend the last 3 sport for the playoffs. Our bench will have Mihm, Cook, Garcia, Williams, KT, Hawes, Douby who can be good rotation players except for KT. :D

But then again, we hate the lakers so much we may not want a trade with them. :D

Why would we want to do that???:rolleyes:

To stay competitive at least for the next 2 season I guess, while at the same time rebuilding on our young core before acquiring all star caliber players after we get rid of Bibby and Odom's contracts by 2009 then retiring Thomas(or maybe he'll traded before that) and Miller by 2010 for another big FA acquisition. And with all the salary cap available, we'll be NBA champs by 2010(with Martin and Hawes at the core). :p

Just my 2 cents of optimism.

You don't want to be mediocre though. We aren't doing anything for the next 2 years, so why not get the top talent in the lottery? It's the only way for us to get better. If we're not taking advantage of that then we're flat out dumb.

Oooops! I forgot! by then again Greg Oden is already the basketball God in 2010. And Portland will be nothing but phenomenal. And so??? This will just be another shattered dreams. :D

Bump

2 more consecutive blow-outs for the Bulls and not in the good way. Seriously, how long can Paxon hold-out?

Bulls = most disappointing team of the young NBA season

You can't do that!!!...Cook no longer plays for Lakers :p

....and the Knicks end their 8 game losing streak against who else.......da Bulls.

Not only that, Thomas is in the doghouse with Skiles.

C'mon John - what are you waiting for? - pick up the phone. :)

Hall of Famer
I don't like any trade with the Bulls that sends Artest out of Sacramento. Think about it, this is completely dumb!!!!!

You won't find another player like artest!! I'd rather send Bibby, and the handicapped crew of Reef and Thomas for Tyrus, but they aren't dumb enough themselves
Some ppl are still bothered by what Artest MIGHT do. So that is the reason alot of kings fans want him out of Sacramento. Now with him Kevin and Bibby they could be an awesome trio with the right frontcourt. They are getting held back in what they could accomplish by having the worst frontcourt in the NBA. Think about how much ppl want Justin Williams to play. This a an undrafted unproven role playing PF that is miles away from being a starting PF. Yet numerous amounts of fans would cheer if he started tomorrow nights game. That speaks volumes of our front court woes. Think about the talent of Bibby, Martin, Artest, Cisco, Salmons and Udrih give that group of players somebody of substance in the frontcourt and we are in business. We basically play 4 on 5 each night. Our PF get a collective 4 reb maybe 6 pts and a few charges. Thats not enough. We need AT LEAST 12 reb per 48 min from our PF and 10pts then they need to get some hustle points.

I agree with you, except for the fact that it's more like 3 on 5. We aren't a bad team at the 1, the 2, or the 3, we are however pretty horrible at the 4 and 5.

It is not completely dumb when you consider that he is likely to leave Sac at the end of the year anyway. Might as well get something for him now if you can - especially if that something includes a young PF with potential.

I agree that Artest is a really good player, however 1) he is not a great fit for this team, 2) we already have 2 guys that play the 3 spot pretty well, 3) his behavior is erratic to say the least, 4) he is one the few pieces of our team that might actually interest another team.

definitely agree, Artest the a great player, but not someone you can build around. He's future isn't with the Kings. So we should trade him and get some youth in return while he still has value. I rather the team sucked this year and next for the chance to build a solid foundation. This pussyfooting of wanting to win now will get us no where. The worst thing that can happen to this franchise is us getting the 8th seed for the playoffs.

Then who is good to build around? Artest is a great all-around player and a great locker room presence. I'm sure you've seen him many times being the peacemaker on the team
You do not build around a ballhog like Artest. Him and Garcia are both players that w/ 15 seconds or less on the shot clock will shoot..

Personally we don't need a "one player" to build a team around. We can build around a nucleous of Martin, and Hawes + whoever we draft next season. THAN we can hopefully save some $$ and bring in a big name to play around and solidify what we already have like we did back when we brought in Webber, and Divac to play around TAW/JW/PEJA/Corliss. That seemed to work pretty well. Went from nothign to the most exciting team.
