How can the Bee hire this guy? They really think hiring a fan of our rival team as a beat writer is a good way to sell papers? Really??
I couldn't get his garbage delivered to me if I wanted to, but I used to go online and read some of Amicks stuff... Not anymore. I said this in another thread, but not only is Jones a Laker fan, his writing is also incredibly boring. The little work of his I have seen when Amick was on vacation or something was terrible.
Between Voisin and Jones.. Oh my god. That's a Brad Miller - Mikki Moore combo if you ask me... And we all know how that went.

Well, that clears up the confusion. Living on East Coast and not re-upping season tickets didn't compute - but I didn't realize you buying them on behalf of the local crowd.

I don't remember the exact scene from the movie, but yeah I'm saying start a petition to get him moved back to the raiders beat or fired or something. I don't want this hack messing with my kings coverage. They could hire me to do a better job. Or my cat. Or random fan from this board. Jones is terrible and a lakers homer and I cannot believe we're stuck with him as the main kings writer.

I ended my relationship with the Sacramento Bee this week over just this matter. The sports section has gone down hill badly and Bill Bradly is to blame as the sports editor. He is an incompetent Morfoon (Moron-Bafoon). He gets rid of good reporters asap and brings in the worst and praises them for how bad they are! Alien Poison, Jason Jones, You name it, they suck! So I went from a weekly bee subscription to a weekend sub, to canceled altogether. In our neighborhood it used to be a kid that delivered, now it is some older man in the early morning. So I have no guilt whatsoever canceling My Sub. The reporting has gotten worse and worse till the point of where it is completely unreadable like this article. I rarely go to there online site now. I come here for Kings news and go to the SFGate website for other sports. The Sacbee has become irrelevant! I hope they go out of business! They won't be getting any of MY business! At least I hope Bill Bradley is fired for his cronyism and stupidity! I think a mass email effort to get Bradley fired by emailing the Newspaper Editor and telling him what you think of the sports page now that Sam Amick is gone would go a long way toward helping Bradly into retirement. I don't see why everyone is so up-in-arms over this. It's not slander; its the TRUTH. There are a lot of Laker fans, and they made their mark. It's not as if Kings fans sold out the Laker game and they wrote some SoCal lovin piece; Lakers fans bought a great number of tickets.
A newspaper is supposed to publish facts and investigative reporting based on facts and logic. Based on the turnout, the Bee was right. So why is everyone huffing and puffing that the Bee put out the truth?

One ist was not a factual report. Much of it is opinion. I was there last night, and this piece is overblown about the Laker fans presence, IMHO. There were a lot of Lakers fans, but they were not the majority or louder. I think his hyperbole about the Lakers being at home in Arco is solely due to his Laker fandom.
Laker fans were maybe 1/3 of the arena, but Kings fans were drowing them out most of the time, except when they cheered a Lakers basket. We certainly drowned out that MVP chant crap.
Also, its not like Jones is some great reporter. At best he's an average reporter. In all the US, the Bee couldn't find a decent reporter that was not a big Laker fan? Then the Bee really is done.

I'm not saying it was majority. I wouldn't even say it was 1/3, but to have anyone even guesstimate at 1/3 of the fans being Laker/Kobe fans is an obscene amount for a small town/small arena that prides itself on its fans. To Kings fans, the article may come off sounding biased, but imo 30% of seats in Arco being filled by Lakers is an unsettling amount, and the article spoke from that angle.

I think the article was way over-stated. Why focus on the crowd, sepcifically the opposing team's crowd when you are supposedly reporting on a basketball game? Then it becomes an opinion and color piece, not reporting the game "facts."
Yes, it bugs me that there are so many Laker fans at the games, but that is the fault of Kings fans. Weird thing is, I get the feeling that many of those Kobe fans were probably sporting Kings gear in 2002. There are those people that change colors to whoever is at or near the top or whoever are the big name players of the moment. Those are the bandwagon fans.
I'm old school. My team is my team whether they are at the top or at the bottom. Whoever wear the purple and black is who I root for.

I was at the game last night and was completely surrounded by Lakers fans. They act very weird, almost cult-like. It reminds me a little bit of how Raiders fans act. This guy in front of me brought a Kobe T-shirt that he would wave almost every time the Lakers would score. I didn't really get it.
Their fans have no class at all.

A casual NBA viewer can only observe the headlines and predominant teams. If the Kings are not being shown nationally, a person who is not a serious fan will not recognize the team is on an upswing. Just yesterday I heard someone say "who is that?" referring to Landry and Casspi. Everyone knows the Lakers, and nobody knows the Kings (unless you are a poster at Kingsfans and then there is no question of your dedication to the team 
). True Kingsfans are rare, especially these days. It's up to us to spread the word. It can only get better.

I think that's a cruel idea. Sure we don't like his Laker love in Sacramento, but trying to get someone fired is just cruel in my opinion. People have families to take care of and in an economy like this losing your job is really rough.

It's not that I believe Jones' article was inaccurate (sadly). It's that he seems downright giddy about it.
I had been willing to give him a fair chance that he could set aside his fandom loyalties and write objectively, but clearly that is not so.
Of course, no other department would allow a reporter to write on a subject they have such a clear and declared conflict of interest outside an opinion peice. Problem is the Bee has been bleeding talent (leaving on their own accord, not being fired/let go) since the paper hit financial troubles so now only Jones and Voison are left.

I was there also and if you don't think "one third" is a lot of Laker fans I'll sell you a bridge. Lots of Laker fans and more than the usual proportion. I've seen 50% of the Lakers/Arco games since 1985. Of course, one reason is that we don't have nearly as many Kings fans in attendance. And yes it was more than the Chicago Bulls crowds of yesteryears. Of course the Bulls fans had a tough time getting tickets, not so for the current Lakers fans. Lastly, as I posted on another thread today, I experienced the rudest fan in my long experience there - in three layers of Laker paraphenalia plus a Laker wig. Rude to the people behind him who also paid big bucks for their seats. The Lakers are welcome to him.
I am a Bee subscriber and a Chronicle subscriber and have been since Art Garibaldi played third base for the Solons. I wouldn't be without them. As for JJ the jury is still out. It has to have been hell for anyone to cover the Kings for the last whatever number of years. No option to stay home. How many good things can you say about Olden Polynice or _________ , you fill in the blank.

If you value your job, don't slap your constituents in the face. Sports news is entertainment news. The local fan base are your audience, you should entertain them with news of their team. If you choose to ignore that you deserve to be fired, or at least, run out of town on a rail.

I was in 110 and had a guy like that. Point being that if we are not going to fill our own arena when the lakers come, than they sure will. It is not their fault that we cant fill arco ourselves. It is up to us to come and watch the games. Not many people are coming b/c we are not very good right now. I dont blame laker fans at all for coming. They are fans after all. Support your team. If we dont want laker fans in arco than start buying tickets to the games.

Some people, including Jones were acting like it was much more than 1/3 or even that it was the majority. That's what bugged me. Yes, so-called (bandwagon) Laker fans are going to buy up tickets. It used to be they had a hard time even getting tickets to Arco. I understand its up to Kings fans to come out. The quality of the team and the economy the negative feelings by quite a few about the new arena all play into low ticket sales. LA just plain draws from a much bigger market, period.
I saw that guy on tv and I wanted to kick the crud out oh him. He looked like a total tool and a waste of air.
I dunno, one reason I think a lot of Kings fans don't go to the Kings/Lakers games now is that 1. they are probably going to beat us and 2. if they're going to beat us, that makes it even more unpleasant with a few thousand gloating idiots in attendance.

As I said, its nothing personal. Do you really think a sacramento Kings fan would get hired as a writer on the LA Times? And if that did happen, do you think the LA Times editors would allow the writer to continously write artilces that takes shots at the Kings and build up the Lakers? No way
If anything, Jason Jones should know better. He is bitting the hand(s) that feeds him. Without readers and subscribers, there would be no ads and newspaper sales. Which means his and other people's job is on the line. Jason Jones should just know better than to do that writing for the a Sactown newspaper. If he chooses to continue to do so, its not anyone else's responsibility. He needs to go find another job writing for another media thats neutral with the lakers or he needs to go write for the LA Times.
I see what you're going for, and agree...yes most Laker fans are the epitome of bandwagon fans. I remember not seeing a single Laker flag coming out of someone's window those two down years for them.
But I have to disagree with one point. Laker fans = Dodger fans (or "Doyers" as I have to hear them say all the time)...and it kills me. I despise both those teams so much.
