I'm fine with it. I'm glad the decision has been made so he can be onboard before draft day...
+1
if petrie made the decision instead of the maloofs i'll be happy with the decision.

My wallet will.well you won't be missed
Wow, horrible decision to pass up Thib IMO. I'm no longer supporting the Kings by attending games or buying merchandice. I'm very disappointed right now.
Yeah because people were just lining up to hire him.![]()
This, Sharks getting bounced early, Faber losing, and the Lakers winning the championship. This has been a horrible stretch for norcal sports and for me as a fan.You just wrote Carmichael Dave, eh? Hahaha...look, Thibo will get a shot. Reminded me a lot of Iavaroni, though...
Who else had a vacancy? Minnesota was getting ready to call him if they fired McHale, DAL were going to interview him until Carlisle expressed interest, and he was in the mix for another post as well two years ago.
I haven't seen that. but yes that is the begining of a good crew. I wonder with all the cuts. How many assistants he will be allowed to have. Will SAR and Pete's services be retained as well? Now lets see if he brings in Porter and Elie as his assistants as rumored -- I liked that bench crew.

If this is true then I will be happy. Now lets see if he brings in Porter and Elie as his assistants as rumored -- I liked that bench crew.
It's only rumored that that is who he wants to bring on board. It's not a done deal yet.2. His staff is an excellent crew. Terry Porter has excellent knowledge of the Kings team, maybe helping out Westphal in areas of basketball. Elie was an assistant coach for Dallas so he knows the game pretty well himself. Paul Westphal possibly brought the best assistant coaches in the whole league in comparison.
Westphal's failure at Pepperdine is somewhat of a red flag for me, but he's a step up from Natt/Theus/Musselman. I think he has a decent shot at bringing us to mediocrity and we'll see from there...

My concerns are that he's been out of the game for a long time, and its been even longer since he had real success.
I agree that Westphal is the safe choice, but I think he'll teach the game to the kids well, stay out of the media, and help bring back a winning culture to Sacramento. I really like those choices as assistant coaches, it would be a wonderful start. Lets make it happen, and go Kings!

For those considering pulling up stakes as a Kings fan, since Thibodeau wasn't hired...from Yahoo Sports:
Boston Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau pulled himself out of consideration for the job earlier on Tuesday.
This, rather than any pressure from Westphal, may have sped things up.
Say what you want to about this hire. Its definatley not a step backward.
