Might be the right line of thinking but I really don't think that's how the fo is looking at it. I think they're just aiming for getting into the playoffs at any cost... and an nba ready guy like Dunn, Hield, or Valentine is exactly what they're looking for. I'm expecting us to try to trade up for Dunn or Hield. Dunn probably gets drafted before Hield imo so Hield will probably be the target. If we stay put I'm thinking it's probably gonna be Baldwin... position of need with some upside and can contribute right away.Brown isn't a safe pick. He's not Hield who will almost certainly be a solid bench shooter and fringe starter in the NBA (I think Anthony Morrow) with the slight potential to be more (possibly JJ Redick) where Brown has the potential to be anywhere from a bust to a 2 way star like Jimmy Butler. I think Brown's physical gifts will keep him in the NBA and away from being a complete bust but whether he is a back of the rotation guy or a star all depends on what's between his ears, his desire to improve and how he is used/developed in the NBA.
Honestly, I'm warming to the idea of swinging for the fences with him. Why not? If Dunn is gone then it's not like a more "NBA-ready" guy like Hield, Poeltl or Valentine is going to put this Kings team over the top.

I'd love to get Chriss but I don't think we'd take him... a f/c that's a couple of years away isn't what this team is looking for I don't think. I think he'll be gone anyways. Brown or Murray is who I think will be there for us... not sure if we'd take either of them ahead of Baldwin.I agree on both counts - with Brown not being "safe" but warming to the idea. But I think we ought to keep in mind that it's not like we're going to be in a position to choose between Brown and Hield and Murray, or anything remotely like that. Unless something goes really weird, or both Chriss AND Poeltl go top-7, we will have the option of one of those guys at most. At most one guy falls.
I think at this point my feelings are:
If it's Brown, we should take him.
If it's Murray, we should take him.
If it's Hield, we should take him.
If it's Bender, we should take him.
If it's Dunn...naaaah, there's no way it's going to be Dunn.
If nobody falls, and we have a choice between Chriss/Poeltl/Baldwin/pick 'em - well, I'm all for Poeltl, who I think is being vastly underrated, despite him being a bad fit for the team. But at that point I would not be upset about trading down.
Why is it so quiet on draft day? I miss the days of Pete and Mully when everything would be leaked!
I was listening to KHTK yesterday and there have been talks about what kind of pick we could get for Ben McLemore. It was hypothesized that it might be possible to get a mid to late first rounder for him. Then I saw this...
Pacers Acquire Thaddeus Young From Nets For 20th Overall Pick

It's the day of the draft, and finally you can somewhat trust, what ND.net puts on their site.Looking through "final" mock drafts, people are putting out there, Jaylen Brown seems to be pretty much a consensus pick for Kings with Baldwin and dropped Hield taking the place in some couple. DX surprisingly dropped Baldwin all the way to #19, putting Denzel at #14, where Baldwin reportedly has a promise.
Most have this order:
1. Simmons
2. Ingram
3. Dunn
4. Chriss
5. Murray
6. Hield
7. Bender
Dunn goes #3, calling it right now. I'm hoping for Jaylen Brown to drop. If you squint real hard, the dialogue around him reminds me a tiny bit of a young Cuz. I think they would work well together. Or they'd hate each other but either way, i'm willing to roll the dice

I'd do it, even though we have Cauley-Stein. We don't need more frontcourt offense anyway and we'd have a dominant front-line on defense. Noel and 2 more first round picks for #8? Do it in a second.

Kings get Ibaka and 24
Thunder Noel and 26
Sixers get 8th
I'd do that trade, but I'm not sure Philly would. Depends on whether a player they want would be available at number 8.
The report is that's already on the table. Philly offered everyone in the top 8 Noel plus the #24 and the #26 pick.
Houston is offering Beverly for first round pickNot a bad trade, but we would still need to somehow find backcourt help
ExactlyWhy bother? Let them have the stupid 2019 pick. They want to give us one of the best defensive bigs in the game and 2 young players on team friendly million dollar deals for the next 4 years? Take that while you can. Sure we'd be missing out on a top 10 player, but at the position we're drafting, I'm not sure we wouldn't be better off with the two late first round picks anyway. Until the next CBA adjusts rookie scale salaries appropriately, those first round contracts are salary cap gold.
Exactly
Then tAke one pick and trade it for Beverly then take another pick and draft a guard
