This is funny. I couldnt disagree more. For whatever reason, I cant eat a burger ( of any kind from anywhere ) without cheese. Ehh, that might not be completely true. I COULD eat one, but I would never prefer a hamburger over a cheeseburger. Im more of a big mac than whopper guy ( although I rarely have either ) but cheese is a must.
During my evening walk, I discovered they're shooting Greeen Lantern a couple blocks away from my apartment. All the trailers and camera trucks made me nostalgic for living in SoCal.

Blashphemy!!! My hamburgers consits of only meat, bun and mayo (sandwiches too). If I'm feel like something diffferent I'll add cheese and maybe bacon.
I don't eat hamburgers, period, unless their White Castles, and I haven't had one of those since the last time I was in Detroit, in 2007. I'm a cheeseburger guy, mayo or not. If I want something different, I'll get a burger with pepper jack cheese.

I love In-N-Out. I miss In-N-Out. Stopping by for a Double Double and chocolate shake was one of the last and most important things I did before leaving California.
I've heard nothing but good things about Five Guys, but the 70-mile drive to Baton Rouge is the closest I've ever been to one.
I'm generally not that big a fast food fan, but I made a Rally's stop the other day since it's the first time in almost 20 years that I've lived close to one. That was a tasty burger and fries.

Agreed on Rally's. Sometimes I have to go get a Bacon Big Buford. So good.
On Five Guys, I've never heard of them. But there's a number of places in my area (including a place called Jon's by my office in Newport Beach) where I can get a down to earth slab of burger like the one in the picture. I've been trying to cut back on ground beef for the past few years, so I don't eat burgers as much as I used to, but when I do, I get something that I really want and make it worth it.
I wouldn't say I normally go for chili burgers but I could never turn down a Tommy Burger.
Although I try to avoid Carl's Jr these days I like my burgers more in the style of a Western Bacon Chee, though I'll swap out the onion rings for some criss cut fries. I am really trying to ditch fast food since I have had a bad year for weight gain
OK, so what is the In-n-Out fascination? I still can't figure it out. The burgers are really only *slightly* better than McDonalds. Their shakes and fries are OK. I just don't get it.....

No kidding. I am very close to going out to get something to eat, meanwhile I just picked up my bridesmaid dress from the tailors which fits exactly as it should with no wiggle room for a wedding in less than two weeks.
Since Guy Fieri featured the Squeeze Inn on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, the cheese-skirt concept has migrated outwards. Fieri recently featured another restaurant serving a similar burger, crediting it as The Sacramento Burger.
As deliciuous as that looks, I can feel my arteries hardening just looking at it.

I think people feel really cool when they order off the menu. That's about the only thing I can figure out. Like animal style is some secret club. I don't think the fries are anything special and while I do like the shakes you can get real ice cream shakes at other places with better burgers. My wife and I always fight this out when visiting the family because she has to eat there and I have about a dozen places I need to eat in CA too.
Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't resist a summer trip home as much as I have been.
It's gotten to be out of control the last few years. It's not the kind of place that I rant and rave about, but I like the burgers. I don't like the fries. Love the shakes. All the other fancy ordering stuff I never got into. Sometimes I'll get a Double-Double protein style, but that's it. I certainly won't wait in line for a half hour, but when I'm in the mood for In-N-Out, I plan a trip during the down times and go get a Double-Double with a chocolate shake.
I used to work around the corner from one, so I'd be there all the time.
Yeah there was one next to the studio I worked at and I guess I managed to get it out of my system and actually found myself going to Del Taco of all places with alarming frequency.
I think the only thing in LA I might actually want is Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles and a Randy's Donut. Most of the places I crave in SoCal are in Santa Barbara.
