Kings Fan’s TV Show Draft! - Round 20

I let Futurama slip through my fingers by reaching with Chappelle's Show (not really a reach IMO, though I'm guessing many of you out there undervalue the genius that was that brilliant, albeit short, show) but I'm not letting this all-time animated classic get away.
Probably a bad guess. His characters are outrageous. During the show, he was so freakin' hilarious that I thought we had finally found our next Richard Pryor. Him dumping the show, for whatever reason, has turned me a little sour on him.

:D I'm very glad to be wrong. Actually, that was a needling comment at best. I kind of wanted some discussion of Chappelle. That show was too good.

That 70s show was going to be my pick here, so I guess ill have to go in another direction...

Hmmm...I suppose I'll go ahead and draft Fringe (2008-present)

it's not the best show in the world, but it had a strong enough first season to keep me intrested. This pick is based off potential.. You could call it my Ricky rubio:)

I generallly like sci fi shows, and with xfiles, star trek, and LOST gone I'll have to settle for Fringe and hope it lives up to it's potential.

Ps. I'm on my iPhone right now and it's hard enough to navigate KF.COM on here so if someone could send my PM for me that would be great.

A lot of my shows have already been taken so I really don't know which way to go here. I do not have a Sci Fi yet and I really only have one on my list so I figure I better grab it now. I remember really enjoying this show and I could not wait to see the part where they showed what the person he had become really looked like! :D

with my next pick
Quantum Leap (1989-1993)

Great pick, KG4. I'm actually glad you took it so I don't have to worry about stealing it from you. (You really need to quit telling me about possible picks. :p )

Another show that was short lived, but consistently funny for all its 18 episodes

Freaks and Geeks - NBC (1999-2000)
-- Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, Jason Segal, and James Franco all pretty much got their start with this series. Definitely worth checking out if you missed it the first time.

thanks for the leniency, didn't have a connection while in interlaken; switzerland says hi to you all, except for the ones who took batman the animated series and quantum leap.:p

gotta make this quick again, sorry for no write up:

the wonder years
beverly hills 90210
(the original, not the current crud)

Seems the Muppets have dragged in some sort of vermin. Now there's a hole in the wall of my office and fuzzy headed creatures keep wandering up while I pretend not to be paying attention. My dog likes them, and they can talk, so I would feel guilty getting rid of them. Now showing:

Fraggle Rock (1983-1987)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085017/

AND I'VE PULLED THE JIM HENSON TRIFECTA!!!! YES!!!!!! I'm so happy!

Time to crack the Food Network, y'all...I could go a lot of ways with this one, but I'm going with a fairly new show. Really the only Food Network show I've routinely set to record on my DVR.

CHOPPED - (Jan. 2009 - present)

Chopped is a great cooking competition show...similar to and old Food Network show, "Ready, Set, Cook," but far more intense. In every round, 4 chefs are given a basket of mystery ingredients (TOTALLY unconnected ones) and are given ridiculously small amounts of time to create a dish. Three rounds...an appetizer, main dish, and a dessert. One chef is eliminated in every round. Tough judges help to make it more interesting. If you haven't checked it out, give it a shot.

Californication (2007-Present)

A very recent discoveryof mine, Californication is immensely entertaining. Many fun characters (I love Marcy Runcle), interesting dynamics between them, an interesting plot and lots of dirty stuff going on. Plus, you get to see Madeline Zima topless in the very first episode, to me that alone merits a place on my list.

Inspector Gadget - 1983 - 1986

I am risking losing a great show with this pick, but I will need at least one animated children's show and this was my fav, as a teen, I used to race home from High School to watch it before going out to party. An animated blend of Maxwell Smart and Inspector Closeau, Inspector Gadget (Don Adams) is the man.

Great Show

ABC's Wide World of Sports (1961-1998)

This was the quinnessential 60 Minutes of sports shows, well, if you added 30 minutes to the news show. But back in it's prime, and maybe even still so as it wound down near the end of its run, the show was about expanding horizons and knowledge of sports and athletes popular elsewhere. And that was a good thing. But the show became a celebration of, as Jim McKay would say, "the thrill of victory"...and who hasn't seen the footage of ski jumper Vinko Bogataj, whose jump gone horribly wrong serves as the "agony of defeat" backdrop.

And did I mention, the peerless Jim McKay?

To start Round 10, I'm grabbing something I am truly glad lasted this long. I watched it when I was a kid, as did my daughter.

Disneyland - 1954-1990

According to IMDB: "Disneyland" (1954) (TV series)
aka "Disney's Wonderful World" - USA (new title)
aka "The Wonderful World of Disney" - USA (new title)
aka "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" - USA (new title)

Perry Mason 1957-1966

One of the most influential shows for me as a kid. I watched this show during its long syndication run and knew I wanted to be a lawyer (or as what ended up happening in actuality "...be in the legal field without the law school debt" ;)). I mean, who DIDN'T want to crack open a random volume of Corpus Juris Secundum and have their own dramatic theme song like all lawyers do, right?

Perry Mason rocked...he made people cry, he got the right murderer when the District Attorney Hamilton Burger went off all half cocked and got it all wrong. Perry taught us circumstantial evidence was bad and having a Della Strreet keeping your cases moving and being equally as brilliant in her own right is very very good.

And yes, I only want the b/w run of this series, the updated episodes that Raymond Burr did, and the ones from the early 70s? Just don't have the cache that the original series does.

A note to all - I will be taking 64 of my closest 13 yr old friends on a trip to the south (I know, all I do is travel). Please PM Mr. Slim, who will be choosing in my stead.
