Kings Fan’s TV Show Draft! - Round 20

Getting the documentary part of my draft fixed:

Long Way Round (2004)

For those unaware of the show (which, I'm guessing, is pretty much anybody), it's basically about two actors and a cameraman deciding it would be an interesting idea to travel from London to New York, via Europe, Asia and the US, on bikes. I was pretty much blackmailed into watching it, as I'm not really a fan of motorbikes and didn't really know much about the rest of the concept. However, once I started, I was immediately sucked in and pretty much watched it in one go. The road movie feeling is great and they do go to extremely fascinating places and cultures. Also, the chemistry between the three appears to work extremely well, although this gets debunked a bit in the book.

Another documentary for me...not as popular as Planet Earth, but equally spectacular:

WHEN WE LEFT EARTH - THE NASA MISSIONS (2008)

If you didn't see this, well...you should have. Having been born in 1975, I wasn't around for the moon landing or the build-up to it. This documentary contains remastered footage and unreleased video of basically every space mission since the inception of the space program until the current shuttle missions to the ISS. It also contains interviews with many of our biggest space heroes: Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong, Jim Lovell, Gene Krantz, etc. I showed the series to my 8th graders last year and they were absolutely riveted...a great lesson in science and American history.

I won't be online this weekend - is there an impartial observer who would like to help me out in case my pick comes back? I don't want to slow things up, but I don't want you scavengers snaking my picks, either. :p! (You know who you are.) ;)
Do we know if Spike sent his pick to "an impartial observer" and, if so, who that person might be?

I'd do it, but I think I would mar his claim of televisionary-ness.

Edit: He. He. I would ruin his televisionary-ness

Suggestion? Since we know Spike won't be here over the weekend and we have no way of knowing if he did in fact give a pick to someone else, I suggest we move on. As a further suggestion, I'd recommend that if anyone else thinks they might be missing their turn(s) that they send their picks to someone who's on the board regularly AND then send a PM to Jespher letting him know you've given a pick to that third person so he can send them a reminder PM if necessary...

:)

A frog, pig, and bear have moved an entire troupe into the ghetto across from the lot. They do routines out front and hold up the Mythbusters all the time. They say they're a comedy act, they worked on SNL. I say what the heck, I'll give 'em a shot.

The Muppet Show (1976-1981)

Now THAT is a great pick.

I know for a fact it would have been picked this round, one way or the other. I haven't heard from KG4 yet, but I suspect the air is ... well... a little blue in her house right now.

I know, I feel kinda guilty. Seeing as how we skipped Spike. I say we don't make him forfeit the pick later.

If she had this one in the queu KG4, I'm sure, has something else on the burner that will burn my britches.

No way he should have to forfeit a pick over a holiday weekend. I know why the rule was included but I think the commissioner can be flexible.

Now, there is one thing, though... IF Spike did send his pick to someone before he left and that person just hasn't posted it, it will count (we can verify time via the PM). If that pick was The Muppet Show, you'd lose it. But, having said that, I don't think it will happen as I really think he (Spike) would have told us if he had sent his pick to someone else...

Crossing fingers as hard as I can! How can we tell if it's the muppet show? can we tell right now? To lose this would be a grievous injury.

I'll be honest...I really didn't expect you to post your pick in reponse to my suggestion. It was just a suggestion I thought we might discuss... I was pretty surprised when you picked but when I saw what you had chosen I could understand why you were anxious to do it. It's a GREAT pick.

There's no way to know if Spike did send his pick to someone else or what that pick is if he did. If that person doesn't post by Sunday morning, 8:04 a.m. (PDT), though, Spike's turn will have timed out. Just keep your fingers crossed over night.

Hi! The restaurant has Wi-Fi (sorry, I had to hit the road.) The Muppet Show was NOT on my list, but I wish it were. Here's my pick, I'll add more later:

Pee Wee's Playhouse

My list has been attacked from all sides, so I have no idea what is or isn't safe. Taking this one now only because a 6th season is about to start up, which may remind people that it's still available. However, that could be for naught. Could be that everyone hates this show and taking it now is unnecessary and will leave everything else completely vulnerable. Who knows? In any case

So You Think You Can Dance - Fox (2005-Present)
-- There is a lot about this show that I really don't like. The judges, the host, the American Idol format, the questionable demographic pandering, ****ing Mary Murphy, the camera work/direction, the overall cutesy-ness, and more. However, it has been five seasons of very good dance and choreography, which I definitely enjoy.

GREAT pick! (And made especially more so by the fact I told KG4 last night I'd be willing to bet this was on your short list, and might be your next selection.) ;)

I normally don't care for the dance competition shows but I like the way the talent is able to rise above all the stupid stuff.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH, who lives in a pineapple under the sea...... Ok, so his laugh may get annoying but I have to admit, I like this show. I enjoy sitting and watching it with my girls. Wasn't my 1st choice this round but had to do some shuffling thanks to a few people that picked before me :p. I would be sad if I didn't get this one. Gotta have something to make me think of my girls!

Spongebob Squarepants (1999-Present)

I thought someone had already selected this show, but I looked it over and I didnt notice it, so with my next pick I select:

The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (1992 - 2009)

Everyone has there go - to late night show and this was mine. Sad to see it go but hopefully his new show works out. Im happy to welcome Leno to my island.

I had snail (A huge one) for the first time Friday Night. Fear Factor was actually flashing through my head while I was eating it. :p
Snails actually can be quite tasty. The weirdest thing I've ever eaten has to be a bowl of deep fried crickets. The heads are pretty crunchy, but since they're deep fried it wasn't bad at all :).

Wow, Spongebob was a great pick. Almost had it. I'll take this as consolation, as I can't believe its still hanging around.

King of the Hill - Fox (1997-2009?)

I let Futurama slip through my fingers by reaching with Chappelle's Show (not really a reach IMO, though I'm guessing many of you out there undervalue the genius that was that brilliant, albeit short, show) but I'm not letting this all-time animated classic get away.

The show is suppose to run out this season as Fox has stopped ordering new episodes of the long-running series. But, you never can tell with FOX animated series anymore, they seem to be like cockroaches.

30 Rock - NBC(2006-Present)

I knew that picking first and choosing the Simpsons lost me the chance at my favorite currently airing show, The Office, but this is a more than welcome replacement. Much, much too underwatched, 30 Rock is the zaniest, craziest, most lively show on TV today.

Totally unpredictable, absolutely hilarious, with one of the best casts and h some of the most crisp writing on TV today, 30 Rock is an absolute blast. It might go over some people's heads, but if you haven't done yourself the favor of trying this show out, and you like to laugh, do it as soon as possible. I made the mistake of ignoring the show its first two seasons and have had to catch it. Its definitely worth it.

Jerryaki has timed out. He has 24 hours to make up the pick or it is forfeited...

Tradepeja is on the clock for 2 picks. PM sent :).
I gotta protest here, especially since Jerryaki has been out of the country on vacation. I think the forfeiture of his pick is unduly harsh. Let him make up his picks when he gets back.

Yeah, I just remembered that he's out to Europe for a while too. I guess we'll call it a skip (like Spike). Thanx VF21 :).
