Vantage point was ok. I could have waited until DVD.
I saw it last night and enjoyed it. In general, we thought it was a good movie. Lots of action, some twists and turns, and some very good performances, especially by Dennis Quaid. For once, an action movie without the big "explosion" at the end of the film. Of course, you have the nicely wrapped up Hollywood ending.

A few negatives:

1. Forest Whitaker is a very good actor, but it was almost like he was trying too hard to be believable as a bystander, if that makes any sense.

2. The "rewind" bit was not really necessary after each viewpoint. Got a bit old after a while.

3. It was kind of annoying that each time you were following a character they didn't let you see everything the character saw, but necessary for the way the film was shot, I guess.

Can't wait for some of the films coming out soon, including Indy, Ironman, Hellboy II....I want to take our son to see Wall-E, too.

There Will Be Blood

Weird, but good enough that I was thinking about certain things the next day or so. Takes such a hard left turn that the ending seems like a different movie than the beginning. 158 minutes long, but there's a lot that goes untouched and unresolved (fast forwards 25 years into the future in a split second). DD Lewis is one of those actors who IS the movie he's playing in, people buy the ticket to see him first, film second. TWBB is another example.

Also caught River's Edge on cable and watched it for the first time in close to 20 years. Since its release, I'd forgotten both how unintentionally hilarious Crispin Glover's performance is AND how head-over-heels/wanna-have-his-babies in love with Keanu Reeves I once was.
Saw it as well this week. I had the same feelings about both Crispin and Keanu. ;) Hadn't seen it in a few years, but every time I do it strikes me how it doesn't seem like a movie that came out the same year as Breakfast Club. Might be the discolored nude corpse, I dunno. That's not an 80s cliche exactly.

In The Name of the King - 2008

Jason Statham movies are usually good for some action. There are some decent special effects, some are kind of hokey, but that's ok. If you like tales from the times of Kings and dungeons then you'll probably be able to enjoy this one.

I am Legend.

Great acting by Will Smith. Thought the story could have been developed a bit more to help the audience feel his plight on a deeper level, but I got the point. I just think it could have been a GREAT movie, but was instead just pretty good.

The CGI muppets really dragged it down a notch. And why? What there could not have been done by people/stuntmen?

"Are You Ready For This" by Technotronic

Courtesy of a friendly commenter on the YouTube video.
The commenter was a little off... Technotronic are a Belgian band best remembered for "Pump up the Jam," the song in question is "Get ready for this" by 2 Unlimited, who hail from the Netherlands. Both songs were used in Space Jam, so someone probably got confused when they read the credits.

In an attempt to fill out the 13 hours still remaining to complete the lab requirements of my French class, I have been watching French films. Lots and lots of French films. As fast as Blockbuster will send them.

Last night I watched John-Luc Godard's Masculin, féminin: 15 faits précis. So far this afternoon I have watched L'auberge Espagnole, The Barbarian Invasions, and now The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Thankfully, I have enjoyed them all. Some of the ones I chose last week were not so easy to sit through. And a couple... well, sleeping through French films should still count towards lab hours, right? I mean... the brain is still absorbing the language, after all.

I am going to try to catch Iron Man today - took the day off to work around the house but think I can work in a movie, too. ;)

^let us know if it's any good. iron man, like most DC heroes, wasn't the most exciting guy in the comics.
I enjoyed it.

He played the part perfectly, and the little zingers kept coming. Dialogue was pretty well written. Everyone seemed to mesh pretty well. Not winning any Oscars in all likelihood, but if you like the superhero movies in general, you would probably like this one.

And make sure you stay until the credits are over....

I hardly ever go to the theater to see a movie (because of my hearing problem). I am, however, going to see Indy IV on the 24th.

Hall of Famer
I saw Forbidden Kingdom at the drive-ins the other day...It was for a friends birthday, and I have zero interest in kung-fu movies, so I didn't even give it a chance.

And I watched Date Movie on and off during the Giants game today...And that movie is so craptastic you cant help but laugh. Sometimes.

I need to watch a good movie soon.
