Supes, if you have some spare time I can forward you my netflix queue so you can cross off the real turkeys for me, no time for a double feature this Sunday :)

I think my wife is dragging me to this (Juno) on Friday night with a friend of hers. Can't wait. Whoopee.

I mean, it looks like any other chick flick based on the website (haven't seen the trialer). Is there really anything special/different to it????
OK, I take back what I said. I saw this tonight and thought it was quirky enough to be not your typical chick flick (and actually enjoyable).

I watched The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford last night. It's pretty good, that Casey Affleck is a great actor.
Watched it last night and was surprisingly enthralled to the very last minute (and there were a lot of mins, 160 to be exact). And I agree, Casey Affleck's portrayal of Bob Ford was played with tremendous conviction. Brad Pitt as the brooding Jesse James was not bad, but I can seriously think of a handful of Hollywood actors that would have give a better performance.

I just finished watching Elizabeth: The Golden Age and I really enjoyed it. Nice job by Cate Blanchett and Clive Owen definitely doesn't hurt the eyes.

Just saw the Godfather for the first time tonight.

Yeah, I know. I fianlly got around to seeing it.
How funny. I was at a friend's house last night for dinner and a movie and he had it in his collection and I volunteered the sad fact that I had never actually seen it. No good reason or excuse for me, other than wanting to see it "right" so avoiding it if it shows up on TV. Turns out his girlfriend also has not seen it either because she believes it would never live up to all the hype. But since my wife recently celebrated her birthday she had the honor of choosing the movie and she chose Good Night and Good Luck instead.

I watched the first one a couple weeks ago or so (but I had seen it before). I do want to check this one out as well.

I can't say that watch many commercial films, but it seems that Hollywood has won me back with a couple of awe-inspiring films made in 2007. The Assassination of Jesse James was stylistically fantastic. But moreover, I'm terribly wild about Into the Wild by Sean Penn. I highly recommend to everyone, even if you may not agree with it's premise.

Juno....

i loved it! =)

i dont know why some people say its overatted and stuff, but i reeally do love the story and the characters are also very lovable....

has some humour as well, not as much as i thought it would, but it worked alot better in its context, as a drama.

4/5 Stars for me

Just watched "Breach" again, the one about the worst spy in the history of the FBI...

Pretty good movie, but you have to be in the mood for two slow, sort of dry hours. No huge payoff, but I found it interesting enough to watch it again.

I saw it in the theater and it did get pretty boring at times. It didn't really keep my attention but that's not saying much...

The last movie I saw was Hot Fuzz on Saturday at my friend's house. I thought it would be stupid and silly like Mr. Bean but it was actually more serious than I expected. I liked it.

Yeah, can't watch a movie like Breach in the theatre. Gotta watch it on a Saturday afternoon while your sick and nothing else of note is on.

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
I caught up on a stack of bad horror type flicks:

Resident Evil: Extinction -- better than I expected. Not good exactly, but watchable, at least in its zombie parts.

The Host -- Korean monster flick that received some crazy reveiws and hype...and omg, it was terrible. A complete mess. That it set some sort of Korean box office record has to be a prime example of culture not translating...or national pride causing people to waste perfectly good money on what would have just been a Grade B flick out of Hollywood.

The Reaping -- started ok, but fell completely apart and just a miserable pile of cliched hokum by the end.

I thought The Host was bad in a good way. I'll admit I dozed off a bit during the middle where it really bogged down. But that monster was funny and we pretty much laughed our way through it. It would have been far better if it was about 30 minutes shorter though and dropped most of the sub plots.

Just got done watching Rambo (the new one).

Heh. :D

heh heh :D

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :D

Has to be one of the most brutal and uncompromising things ever committed to celluoid...and I liked it. A lot. That's twice now old man Stallone has really surprised me after I laughed at him.

He did an interview with Tom Sullivan on KFBK a while back that really impressed me. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.

Beware!

Just have to say that if you are at all squeamish. It is right up there with the most brutal films I have seen in mainstream filmaking. There are no flinches, no quickcuts, nothing sacred. Many many bad and violent things happen, and you see every inch of it, and actively root for a lot of it. And the big action sequence near the end makes the Omaha Beach scene in Saving Private Ryan look like Driving Miss Daisy.

They actually touched upon some of the stuff during the interview and Sly made it clear that it wasn't for children or the squeamish. He explained that he wanted the realism to remain since that's what is happening over there and people need to know about it. (I'm assuming that's what you're talking about, since I haven't seen it of course.)

Been rehabbing from knee surgery the last few days so I've had some time on my hands...

The generic bad guys must've pushed Rambo too far. And you don't push Rambo too far. There was some killing and/or maiming that had to be done. (I assume this is what happened, correct me if I'm wrong).

Pure carnage.

Not the old Rambo cartoon carnage either. Nasty bloody entrails dropping body parts flying war is hell carnage. Which of course gets you rooting for it in a major way. :p Not sure I can think of anybody but Stallone who could have had the clout to make a movie so brutal -- its a hard R, and none of the PG-13 wussified nonsense to be seen. They are having to chop it down to make it legal in parts of Europe. Could only be made comerically viable I would think by Stallone and Rambo having bult in cachet and name recognition. There might be more testosterone (or HGH) dripping out of this flick than anything since the orignal Conan.

Funny thing was that like the final Rocky, Stallone sort of snuck in some real themes, and around the carnage brought the story and character full circle. He's back to being a haunted and burnt out old vet rather than a superhero. Until of course the big meanie picks on the pretty girl of course. ;)
