The official KF "I want to share some good news!" thread

Just wanted to let everyone know that my great aunt Betty is doing remarkably well since her surgery last week. My mom has been up a couple times while she was going through tests and the surgery (since she's been through it herself.) She's one tough little old lady!

Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts everyone. :)

That's fantastic, pdx!! Best of luck in the new job.
Thanks, I actually just officially accepted as I had been waiting to get more info on the benefits package. This whole thing happened in about a week and is a lot to process after what had been a frustrating search once I realized that I wasn't cutting it as my own boss. Couldn't have been more perfect timing though!

Thanks again everyone. I went in today for some paperwork and got to see my office. I've never had my own office before. Far more exciting than the day I got my first business card!

Ohhh. Nice! Sorry I'm late to the party but I'd like to add my props to the list!

Your own office? Way cool.

My wife and I bought a new car today - Honda Civic LX. I drive about 25,000 miles a year and with my Ford F-150 that was getting VERY expensive, so this way I have a new commute vehicle and keep the miles off my truck. :D

The two Hondas our families have had (my sister and my inlaws) have lasted more than 250,000 miles each, so with lots of highway miles and regular maintenance, we are hoping for similar results....

Good luck with the Honda. I'm sure it will be more economical then the F-150! I can't imagine logging that much mileage a year at today's gas prices. I have only clocked 17,000 miles on my car since 2003 - while I drive my wife's car a bit I still have never put more than about 10k a year on any car I've owned.

I survived my first week at the new job :) I like it a lot so far.

Also my dodgeball team won our final regular season game on Thursday night to cap off our first winning season at 6-4. Then we won 2 games in the tournament to advance to the sweet 16 round before bowing out. Plus I made a ridiculous highlight reel mid-air catch between my legs in one of the games.

It was a great week or so for me.

Glad to hear you like your new job so far, pdx. And congrats on a good dodgeball season. :)

Hope you enjoy the new car, Warhawk. (F-150 and 25,000 miles = $$$$$$$$!)

I usaully average around 12,000 miles/year...that is until they closed my office last fall and reassigned me to another office farther away. Now my commute alone will add up to about 17,000 miles/year. :(

I won the grand prize at our friend's annual Easter Egg hunt today.

And in the really, really big exciting good news dept, my wife and I just got off the phone with our families telling each of our parents that they will be grandparents in October. So now I can tell the whole world.

I pulled 2 all nighters since Sunday. Which means I only slept Monday.

edit: sorry ranting about absurd difficulty in my major which you wouldn't attribute to it.

A little more exciting news. My coach is good friends with Tommy Dempsey, the coach of Rider University. When we go over in the summer, it looks like we'll be going to their college and we'll meet up with him and a few of their players, one being Jason Thompson. :D
Sounds a bit unreal, so nobody has to take it as gospel. But it is true, I have no reason to lie. Also, once I get back I'll be sure to post some pictures of myself and future Kings PF Jason Thompson!

Side note: I'm not sure exactly how my coach knows him, but I think it's through recruiting players. My coach also coaches a professional team here, and a guy named Laurence Young played for him a few years back. He came from Rider. Maybe that's how, although coach said he's known him a long time, and also known Thompson since he was a kid. He was telling me about his older brother, who is a 6'5'' guard but didn't make it in the NBA.

That was a long side note! :D

Sounds exciting, dime dropper. I'll be looking forward to all your pictures. :)
I'm really looking forward to hearing all about it, dime dropper. :D
Thanks alot 6th and KD. I don't want you to think your best wishes went unnoticed. :) I really appreciate it.

Nothing's set in stone as of now, so fingers crossed everything will work out and we'll get to meet him. It's shaping up to be a really exciting trip. :D
