Yi

If Yi does not play with Milwaulkee, do we have a shot with trades, drafts and money. And is he worth it.

I say If we can we do it.

I would LOVE to get Yi but I am not sure the Bucks would trade him! From all reports Yi looked pissed when his name was called out!

i wouldn't show either. i'd stay my *** over there, eat all the chow mein, fried rice and demand to be traded to the kings.

If he doesn't report to Milwaukee, he certainly isn't going to be thrilled about coming to Sacramento.

Personally I don't care if he comes into the NBA or not. He entered the NBA draft knowing he could be picked by any of the teams with selections. If he (or the Chinese government) aren't willing to accept the results then let him go back to China and play.

agreed. Just play the game man doesn't matter where and if it does then you don't love the game but the money it offers.

Damn right

Not necesarily true, if the Chinese' interestin him coming to the West Coast is legit. Not sure how much of this could come form a guy like Yi, who is young and has limited expereicen with the U.S, and how much is more likely coming form his government, and agent, who seem to eb working hand in hand.

In any case, I detest that sort of behavior, am tolerating it here only on the off chance it benefits us this time rather than vice versa. Cheeky of the Bucks to take him anyway. Normally root for those franchises. Still wish the Chargers had heled their ground with Mannin hand then buried him on the end of the bench and assigned him janitorial duties.

I agree. You want to play in the NBA, you take your chances with the draft, same as everybody else. I thought it was bogus that he wouldn't travel to be seen by teams, they had to come to him. Wouldn't try out against any other players and wouldn't even go through the physical at the pre-draft camp.

I suspect most of this is the government trying to control things to their perceived benefit.

Actually, though, Sacramento has a decent Chinese population, certainly better than Milwaukee. And its close enough to the Bay area, which has a huge Chinese population. LA/Orange Co, SF/San Jose Area and NY area would have the biggest Chinese populations. I guess GS really wanted Yi. I'm sure the Chinese government was hoping for GS to pull off a trade to move up.

As disgusted as I am with the attempt to manipulate the situation, I sure wouldn't mind if we could manage to get him from the Bucks, tho.

Checked the census estimates for 2005

Milwaukee:

City Population: 556,948
Asian - 19,854 or 3.6%

County Population: 897,972
Asian - 27,368 or 3%

Sacramento:

City Population: 445,287
Asian - 81,944 or 18.4%

County Population: 1,337,942
Asian - 184,230 or 13.8%

But the wikipedia site actually discusses Chinese, not just Asian

I do not think Milwaukee wants it.

actually id stay in the u.s, but in a rather particular part of the u.s

Panda Express baby!
orange chicken w/ chow mein and firecracker shrimp
mmmm...

Milwaukee was so retarded for picking him. The difference between him and BWright isn't worth the hastle they now have to go through.

Exactly right!

They tried to be too smart but all they really did outsmart themselves.

It was dumb and if I was a bucks fan I'd probably just forget about them and concentrate on the brewers. Even if they call his bluff and he plays you know damn well he is as good as gone once he's a free agent.

I agree! Even if they convince Yi to play for them, down the track he will leave as soon as he gets a chance.

BTW, I like that 08-09 Kings line up in your signature :)

Yea, I was thinking maybe if I get enough people to think about it and believe in the possibility it will magically happen :)

im hoping against hope that yi comes here, but i see no way that it would work, unless we give up martin, which i will not do.

I wouldn't want to give up Kevin Martin, but for a talent like Yi, I think I would. But... the Bucks have Michael Redd (not to mention Bobby Simmons), so I doubt that Kevin Martin would be in their plans.

And if anyone doubts that Sacramento would appeal to Yi or his agents (including the Chinese Govt), not only does Sacramento have a sizeable Chinese and Asian population (which Milwaukee does not have), but it's part of Northern California - which includes a significant Asian population in the Bay Area. From the Chinese perspective, Sacramento and Oakland are both 'next door' to San Francisco.

I normally and habitually root for the team in these things -- wish that Eli Manning's career had been intentionally scuttled by the Chargers, wish that the Grizzlies had called Steve Francis' bluff and made him scrub toilets as a condition of his rookie contract. But this time, purely for selfish reasons, I'm hoping the Yi camp tells Harris in no uncertain terms to stick it where the sun don't shine. Kid can play, and I want him.

Then afterwards I will go back to rooting for the teams victimized by this kind of crap. ;)

What's up with all these go back to your own country statements? Feels like the 60s of white people and colored people. NBA players nowadays make all sorts of demands. It's normal. Kobe got what he wanted, team leader, now he wants out. Tsk Tsk. Also, Brick pointed out many things I was going to, Francis cried when he got drafted...Webber cried when he got traded to Sacramento and only a max contract got him to stay. We got to understand it wasn't his decision to come made me take off my Webber jersey. Jim Jackson wouldn't show for the Hornets when he was traded there by the Rockets and people cheered his action. Love or hate the situation, I'll be glad if Yi comes to Sacramento.
