Just give him up Dunleavy, jesus christ. Kerr already said he hates him, lets go.
I thought Moody did?I think Buddy and Podz played a lot of 3 last year.
Vecenie just talked about it on his podcast. He said he would take the Devin Carter trade if he was the Warriors. He also said he is really high on Devin and thinks he can be a better version of De’Anthony Melton. He also said he doesnt understand why Perry wants to trade Carter because he is usually the type of player he loves. However, he thinks the Kings are the best fit for Kuminga.
I’m kinda over it. If we get him fine but I’m not worried about it. If it was up to me I’d trade Monk for a forward on a shorter contract and run with the guys we have. If we surprise, great. If we are where we expect to be at the deadline, ship off parts to playoff contenders and start building the team back out next season. And hey, maybe we get lucky and one of Carter, Keegan, Big Red or Max exceeds expectations and we really have something. For example, what if Nique has a Jaylen Wells like impact? Can’t wait for Thursday!
To me, the ideal trade is NOT giving up Carter but Monk. That lands you with:
Keon
Carter
Kuminga
Keegan
Clifford
Raynaud
And assuming we're not great, add a top 10 pick to that. LaVine big expiring and DDR can come off the books. That's a lot to potentially look forward to next off-season
Does a Monk-Kuminga swap just not work? Why are we so insistent on sending Monk to DET? Do the Warriors even want Monk?
All pretty interesting scenarios and they're certainly still being worked out. If we were out, the Dennis stuff would be final
Buddy never played for the Pistons but they were reported to be interested in him last offseason before the sign and trade to golden state.I thought Moody did?
Either way, if that report is true I'd imagine for the money to work they want us to take back Hield, which is a no go.
Maybe detroit takes buddy back? I'd imagine they wouldn't hate that idea with Beasley/THJ gone, he'd be a really good fit there.
Detroit gets Buddy
Sac gets Schroder/Kuminga
Warriors get Carter/Monk
Curry/Monk
Podz/GP/Carter
Butler/Moody
Draymond/Trayce
Horford/Post
Doesn't feel like a logjam to me. I can't imagine a team like GS who wants to win will factor Carter into the rotation day 1. The goal would be to bring back payton for a year, and have Carter take that spot mid-season or next year at worst.
Tough one. In the short term and what the Kings need now I’d think we would benefit trading for Kuminga even if it includes Carter. But since Kuminga is a restricted free agent and there doesn’t appear to be a great deal of interest out there other than us, let the Warriors choke on it for as long as possible.
Let's just listen to this guy, eh?

I assume as it stands we can’t offer Kuminga much if anything. I hate the wait, but hoping Perry can shuffle some contracts and get something done.
What are we in a hurry for we’re not even playoff contenders why make short term moves

I don't really think it's a short-term move to acquire Kuminga, though. He's 22 and still pretty raw despite a half-decade of service in the NBA. He'd instantly be the youngest player on the team. I'm firmly in Carter's corner and don't want to see him moved, but funnily enough, he's probably more ready to help the Kings "win now" than Kuminga is, since his defense translates immediately.

With the Collins/Powell trade (and Beal likely headed to the Clippers), I'd imagine we have no suitor for Demar.
At this point I'm thinking the best course of action is to "run it back" see what we have in Carter. Hopefully at the deadline a home opens up for Monk/Demar, maybe even LaVine?? I think we really need to look at this as a 2 year clear the books plan.
Only part of the team I'm confident in is our 2/3.
Keon/Carter
Keegan/Nique
Long term, that is a recipe for a winning team. The rest of the team needs an overhaul and hopefully a top 5 pick next year.
I like Kuminga. But I hate the idea of Monk, LaVine, DeRozan, Kuminga. Too many guys looking for touches and I feel its a recipe to Kuminga becoming a more selfish player. You need those connective players and I want to see Keegan/Keon get more touches personally. Not a terrible call. Just less interesting than going after Kuminga

If Monk goes in the trade, and then we agree to a buy out with Demar where we pay him this years salary and he gives up next years, I'd be all for it. I know Kings fans will hate the idea of paying Demar to leave, but thats a sunk cost. If we have Kuminga, I want to start developing good traits, not having him fight to iso with Demar/LaVine every play.
Kevin Love potentially headed towards a buy out. Not sure if he has anything left, but for the min might be worth a look to backup Sabonis as a stretch 5.

Well we saw the Monk-LaVine-Derozan combo be a disaster. I don't think swapping Schroder for Monk changes that at all. I'm guessing Nique doesn't have minutes day 1. Monk-Carter-Keon + the 3 starters is already tough to find minutes for.Ya, disappointing but it is what it is. I'm optimistic DD and Monk can be moved at some point during the season, much less so about Lavine. To make those moves happen I'd expect a healthy dose of minutes going to those 3 to start the year so I wouldn't anticipate too much of a commitment to our younger guys early on. Even with that I still think we'll be a bottom team, and hopefully post deadline even closer to the bottom. 2026 draft has 3 guys that look like #1 options on offense, but also are really good defensively. Any of them would be the perfect focal point to put next to Keon/Keegan/Nique/Carter or Kuminga.

Schroder (26) Monk (22)
LaVine (30) Monk (4) Carter (12)
DeRozan (20) LaVine (4) Keon (24)
Keegan (34) Derozan (14)
Sabonis (34) Eubanks (14)
This is genuinely far worse than what we ended last year with. We are more undersized. We ended the year with 5 playable front court guys, I'm counting 2 today. I'd have to guess we are at minimum going to grab Precious or bring Lyles back. Which then cuts into Keon/Carters minutes even more. The current roster is an absolute disaster.
I really would explore a buyout with Demar if we can't trade him. Keeping him makes LaVine worse, and hurts any development we have for our guys. We've complained about Keegan playing the 4, lets wait until Keon exclusively plays at the 3.
Lottery pick in his second year getting less then 20 mpg is comical and likely to happen
I'm not concerned with value. We should have taken Rozier for Demar. We still should if its on the table though I'm guessing its not. I'll give Perry two years, but I'm not confident that this mess is cleaned up. And truthfully, no other moves and adding Schroder is just as bad as what Monte would do.Lottery pick in his second year getting less then 20 mpg is comical and likely to happen
