Would you trade Evans for Paul?

I think there is almost no shot this happens … but the logic is that: (1) if Shin can’t sell the team, he might move to unload Paul; and (2) they aren’t taking pieces, they would need a young star prospect in return. So for the heck of it,

(1) Do you view Paul as an upgrade of Evans?

(2) If it was on the table, would you make a Evans and a expiring bad deal (Garcia/Beno) for Paul trade.

That’s tough. I have no dog in this fight and it’s not a – hey I think this is a good idea/will work post. I just wonder what you think

The concerns about the knee probably and Tyreke’s upside probably cause the Kings to say no first, but Paul is probably the better player assuming the knee is right. But I think there is a debate to be had … and really, if either team picked up the phone, I think it –at least initially – leads to the “Oh, wow .. really?” for both teams.

(Of course, 75% of the posts will talk about getting him to play with Evans … sure why not. Then we can sign Bosh for the mid-level and bring Red back from the dead to coach the team. For the Kings to land Paul, this is the trade)

As great as CP3 is the thought of Tyreke Evans with a jump shot will trounce him as far as total impact in a game.

I wouldn't do it as personally I view Deron Williams as being the better pg of the two and the whole world will know it when Utah finally gets that man some help.

Tyreke with a jumper while his game matures and he can stay healthy is a franchise player, whether it is at the one or the two you just can't get rid of that. He;s got the mental makeup to be something special as welll

However like a poster said above, if Reke never gets that jumper than Id take a look at that trade still end up rolling with Reke though.

I agree, I don't see Paul as a better PG than Williams. Maybe that's just me. I just think that Evans' game is so well suited for playoff basketball. He's going to physically wear down his opponents. The traditional pgs don't win rings no matter how good they are. I see Evans as a play maker and once we get some legitimate talent to surround him with, watch out.

Chris Paul is a great player but to get him youd have to trade a mountain leaving him in a situation like he is in no being the best player on a team with less talent. I wouldnt trade tyreke for him because cp3 can be guarded reke is a huge mismatch only person id trade reke for is lebron or kobe maybe dwight because they are game changers like reke

no way!! Tyreke has the ablity to play 3 positions and is younger, has more size and is a game changer. CP3 is awesome when healthy but in the end I think Evans will be talked about more than CP3 when both of their careers are over.

CP3 is obviously a good player. But he is small and takes a lot of beating. His injuries are already racking up and I see it getting worse as he gets older.

Most other teams would though. Tyreke's upside doesn't really stretch that much higher than where Paul already is, and Paul just turned 25. Plus Paul is probably an easier piece to build around. At least more conventional.

However, where are we really at with Paul on the Kings? #5 pick, Dalembert, Landry, JT, Casspi, Greene, Cisco...definitely nice pieces but you're not really in serious contention with that group. At least not yet. You can preach patience to your 20 year old star, but its harder to the 25 year old who's had only a taste of playoff success and has an opt out in two years.

Stick with Tyreke, let the kids grow another year while maybe taking a run at the 8th spot, but then you make your final tweaks, trades, picks, and additions with cap space and you take a solid 5-10 year run at it. That's what you can do if we pair Tyreke and say, Cousins for the next decade.

Now if you trade Tyreke, Beno, Casspi, and Dalembert for Paul and Okafor...AND THEN sign LeBron with the cap space. Well, then yes you do that deal.

I actually would not, at this point. Don't get me wrong, CP3 is the better player at the moment, and certainly you always should take the guy that is good now vs. the guy that could be good later, but Sacramento and MSE have a lot invested in Tyreke. He's become something of a brand around here, and I don't think that you can give up on it just like that.

Also, Reke came in and did what most of the greats do in their first season: Dominate with their physicality, despite having gaping holes in their skill sets. If, and it's a big if, Tyreke can fix the major holes in his game, he could end up being better than CP3. It's certainly not a lock, but he has that possibility to be the next big thing, something I don't think CP3 does.

No. Reke is younger with more upside. He also has a longer and cheaper contract than Paul.

This is a really tough one. I voted "I can't decide." While CP3 is arguably the best PG in the league, Reke has a chance to be something really, really special. I think I'd rather just take my chances with Reke. I'd be sick if in 3 years Reke was posting Lebron numbers and collecting MVP's.

Only a fool would trade Tyreke for Paul at this point. Too much upside, too much poise and domninance for a 20 year old, and he just came off a rookie season where he showed he can be a defensive stopper when he wants to, that he can dominate other pgs, that he needs to be doubled and tripled to slow him down (I did not say STOP him), that he is clutch, and that he posted #'s in the same vein as 3 other SUPERSTARS.

Tyreke's just really hard to pin down to one position. Even if he were to start every game at PG for the rest of his career, there would still be those saying he's a really a SG. Part of the problem is that a lot of players come in as big point guards, but end up just playing shooting guard after a season or two anyway. It remains to be seen where Tyreke ends up, but it doesn't matter, he's going to be really good either way.

I said no... CP3 great player but I don't see him dominating playoff series (notice i didn't mention games) like Tyreke can. This poise and skills that are still improving are just too much to let go for us. I think really you have to look at the matchup problems Tyreke creates when he's on the court and he will demand other teams put their best defender on him or he will torch them in multiple ways. I don't think there is much of a way to stop EITHER player but I think Tyrekes inside game is much stronger and demands a lot of respect where CP3's isn't as strong. Tyreke is the obvious matchup winner against every PG in the NBA as far as I'm concerned and if you're going to force a team to put their best defender on him that creates mismatches no matter the size for someone else on the team to excel...

My answer is no here as well. I know how great CP3 is, think he is still better than Deron (maybe should be spelled "eron"), and yet I have seen CP3's top end, know just about how far he can carry a team, and think that Tyreke might be abel to one day carry one further. Bigger, younger, and frankly more unstoppable.

And really, since we talked about would you trade Tyreke for Wade last year with similar results, I think the interesting question, with a fairly clear cut result, would be name all the players in the NBA who you WOULD trade Tyreke for. And I seriously think the list might consist of one name: LeBron. Dwight as a borderline second name. And that might very well be it.

I had to vote no. Tyreke is a very unique player. Extremely strong, and already an upper tier player. Great rebounder for his position and able to defend three positions. Once he's able to knock down the outside shot with regularity he'll move into the thinner air of LeBron and Wade etc. Plus he's only 20 years old and Paul is 25.

no way would i trade him for cp3. no knock on him but reke is a beast. they have to put their best defensive player and clog the paint to stop this guy. too much upside and we've only seen 1 season of it.
