If the playoffs have tought me anything this year it’s that you only want one streak shooter.
We need role players that can hit the wide open 3s in clutch moments. All the championship teams have them. These players like GP III are not even stars, but they get an open 3 and they nail them. We need some role players with ice in their veins.
I think it might take a 1st round pick for him, but I’m not sure how I feel about Collins. He’s a reclamation project. Almost all of his big stats came when the Hawks were terrible and playing lotto odds. His 21.6ppg was also a bit of a fluke. It was a really small sample size of only 41 games because he was suspended at the start of the season for PEDs. They only won 20 games that year too. He had 2 years of straight decline before Dejounte ever stepped foot for the Hawks.I'm thinking that the Kings may want to tap Atlanta as a trade partner again. I see John Collins as a potential target for Monte. Collins was on a superstar ascent in 2019-20 when he averaged 20 pts and 10 reb and 1.6 blks per game at just 22 years old.
He has been on a steady decline since, but it could be due to Atlanta's offense revolving around Trae Young and D. Murray. I think he needs a change of scenery to re-vitalize his career. He has shown he could score, rebound, block shots and shoot the 3 pointer (career 36%).
HB is a free agent and may not re-sign. Seeing that Collins currently has negative trade value due to his high salary, maybe the Kings can send a package of Richaun Holmes and multiple 2nd round picks and salary filler or 3 team trade to swing a deal. I think he could be a low risk, high reward type trade that could be a home run.
I still stand by my message above and would not do this deal since...
...but here is the trade proposal just for fun:
- Anunoby, Siakam, and/or Sabonis could all walk after next season
- I still question the fit of a Fox, Siakam, & Sabonis core since they are all best at operating in the paint/midrange
- We'd likely have to have a massive payroll after resigning Monk, Barnes, Anunoby, Siakam, and Sabonis
Pascal Siakam
OG Anunoby

Kevin Huerter
Richaun Holmes
Keegan Murray
Davion Mitchell
PJ Dozier

That would certainly be an interesting team. We'd have 3 legit star talents and Sabonis could be moved into a more natural "3rd option/facilitator" role. Anunoby & Siakam would really help improve our defense and length and really bolster our ability to rebound. Anunoby, Barnes, and Siakam is a lot of size, strength, and length at 2-4 while we'd still have adequate shooting/spacing (although the spacing is what concerns me the most about a team like this).
That's giving up way too much for those guys.
They're both good to great players but if they were that awesome, the Raptors would have been a hell of a lot better than they were this year.

That is a nice suggestion. Keita Bates-Diop can add depth at the SF position at a reasonable price, especially if the Kings FO is able to nab Cam Johnson.
39% from 3 on 2 attempts this season he really closed the season with a lot of big games. Appears he's gotten better every year for sometime. shot 51% from the field last 2 seasons.
He's got a 7'3" wingspan. 6'8 230lbs. 27 years old. classic 3 and D type of wing.
The question really is how much of a market will there be for him, if we could get him cheap seems like a really good idea to me.
I would agree that Barnes is not easily replaced. Vet who is 30 with good switchability between 3/4, can spot up from 3 and create contact going to the basket and rebounds. I'm not totally sure whats not to like.I hate the idea that we would have to get rid of Barnes. He's always been a really steady player and rarely injured. He's probably one of the best 4th scoring option in the NBA.
OK so this is the "do NOT touch" list that I have.
1. Fox (obviously.. The guy is playing lights out even in high stress games like the playoffs. He does NOT choke under Pressure).
2. Sabonis (obviously)
3. Murray ..... I see Peja in him and a long term 2nd or 3rd scoring option).
4. Huerter
5. Barnes
6. Monk
7. Lyles
8. Mitchell (at least for one more year)
If I had to rank from 1-10 (ten being the guy you definitely want to keep), I would rank our players this way;
1. Fox 10/10
2. Sabonis 10/10
3. Murray 8/10
4. Huerter 7.5/10
5. Barnes 7/10
6. Monk 8.5/10
7. Lyles 7.5/10
8. Mitchell 6.5/10
9. Davis 4/10
10. Holmes 3.5/10
All the rest of the bench are 1 to 3 out of 10 at best, meaning expendable. I would actually trade anything lower than an 8 if we got a great deal.
idk, I've flipped on the HB decision like 7 times over the course of the season. Really does feel like a pivotal decision in terms of what direction we take the team long-term.
the good news is there might only be one other team in line for HB’s services so maybe his price tag will be reasonable. Indy?
I’m open to an upgrade but I think I’d lean bringing him back and letting him settle into the 5th option role. Maybe we find his eventual replacement in the draft.
You’d have the same issue (if not worse) on the Pacers. You’d have a two C lineup and one of them would have to guard PFs.What about Porzingis? He has a player option and might decline it. His health is always going to be a concern, but he's back to his NYK self.
Here's his stats through 65 games:
23.2pts 8.4rebs 1.5blks 0.9stls on 49.8/38.5/85.1
He'd also give us a "just in case Keegan isn't ready to take over as the 3rd scoring option"

Yeah, I don't think we need to change our identity here, we need to find a way to improve the defense and control the boards without giving up what makes our offense so potent. Sabonis and Lyles have both been great at the 5 position but we lose when our shots aren't falling and/or bouncy forwards jump all over us in the post. I don't think moving Domas off the C position is the answer. We need more length and athleticism at the wing/forward positions.

Would love Hart but don’t think the Knicks let him walk.Josh Hart and Naz Reid would go a long way for us.
I could see us replacing one starting among Barnes or Huerter, but not both. But they better have a suitable replacement and a semi-big splash.
The dude missed two seasons recovering from a torn ACL, came back and played okay in eleven games and then preceded to miss the rest of the season after tearing a completely other set of leg ligaments. There’s a good chance the guy is done in the NBA.If we could get Isaac for a low price we should definitely look into that angle.
