i say YES to mr. Oladipo. IF we can't get Porter. cause lord knows how bad we have needed an SF for a while now.

If you want Oladipo at the SF, I think you're going to be disappointed. He's 6'4.25" in shoes and has a 6'9.25" wingspan. So if you remember a lot of us complaining that Tyreke (6'5.25"/6'11.25") is too small to play the SF full time...'Reke is legitimately bigger than Oladipo.

I like Oladipo, but I think he's clearly a 2.

I do stand behind my statements about Oladipo, though. There certainly have been suggestions that he might fill a 3 spot, but I don't think he's got the size for the position.

Probably the biggest question mark out of the likely top 10-15 picks. I've read the DX reports and I'm fairly intrigued but let's face it: he could be a taller version of Ibaka as much as another Whiteside.
I'd rather trade down and get Dieng or Withey.

I've mentioned taking Gobert in many threads in the past. He seems to be a great athletic fit next to Cousins. He's a mobile big with good athleticism and speed. Has good timing when it comes to blocking shots and I'm sure he is disrupting many more shots with his length that doesn't show up in the stat sheet. He weighs 240 already which is acceptable if we match him up with PFs, but it would be in his best interest to continue to get stronger. 255-260 might be his best weight and his frame suggests that putting on weight is doable. I've read that his jumpshot isn't too much of a threat, but he was a good FT shooter this year (70%) which makes me think he can develop a reliable jumper in time. You don't see many 7'2" players with 7'9" wingspans walking around in the NBA so he is definitely worth a hard look.

Adams played a lot better later in the season, is willing to do a lot of dirty work and now even shows touch on mid-range jumper - he's going top-10 with his physical ability.

I agree! Anyone that actually watched him play, instead of just quoting the mock draft sites would know that he made serious improvements to his game as the year went along. He started the year at Pitt looking like a fish out of water, and finished looking like a solid player with a huge upside. He's still raw, but he's a very good athlete with very good mobility, and I think, a good feel for the game. I also see him in the top ten, and that wouldn't be that big a reach for us if we remain at number 6.

Gives them a big to grow with Irving and give us a skilled vet to pair with cousin. then we could trade the top 5 pick with any 3 of our spare PF's along with whoever didn't go in first trade for a pg. We actually have movealbe pieces if we couple with draft picks. be nice if we could parlay #1 pick for a starter and 2 first rounders.

I hope you aren't trying to be creative just because you can. Noel fills a need as a defensive big to place next to Cuz. Unless he is a total bust, he would provide us with a nice collection of bigs with he and Cuz as the eventual starters and having plenty of power coming off the bench in JT and PPat. I happen to like having plenty of bigs and that is my bias in constructing a team. In fact our bigs would be nice enough to eventually be one of the best collections in the league.

In my way of looking at things, any pick below #5 or so this year is not going to be of huge benefit to us unless he is a lower pick shot blocker. Then we would have to be lucky to have the player pan out. Trading down gives us very little and perhaps nothing, in other words.

I'll admit my interests have been in other directions as my worry that we wouldn't even have a team has overwhelmed any specific thoughts about players. Can't worry about players if we don't have a team. Just throwing my bias out there and I hope to catch up with those of you who could keep their mind on basketball.

Oladipo is one of those talents you draft and worry about how he fits in later. Tyreke's future with us is not certain and even if he does resign there are plenty of ways to maximize a player like Oladipo with Tyreke. He has real potential to be a monster defensive player in the NBA and be one of the better rebounding guards in the league along with a 3pt shot and a great work ethic.

Maybe I'm the only one here, but I'm still not sold on the idea that we can't be a winning team with Reke at the 1. If I remember correctly, the best we have looked in these years was when we had Reke and MT in the backourt with Beno from the bench. If Oladipo is available when we pick, I'd say get him and find a coach who can make him and Reke work together. Thomas can start from the bench and he will be able to play with both Reke and Oladipo. Trade MT and something else for a shotblocker or a SF able to shoot from outside, and fill the last spot in free agency (Korver, Dalembert).
Can you imagine a backourt of Reke and Oladipo? Potentially the best defensive combo in the league, and if Reke keeps improving is jump shot they would be unstoppable on the other end too.

I don't like Shroeder much (no offense). He reminds me of a skinnier, slighlty more athletic Darren Collison. He's rail thin, and isn't a great playmaker-all in all, not what I'd be looking for when I give up a superior draft pick.

he's also 19, so his physical development is nowhere near finished. also: where do you get that not a great-playmaker thing from? the guy is all about pass-first and defense. I'm not saying he's going to be a star, but he could be a solid starter with the exact attributes needed next to Reke.

If I had the number one pick I take Porter over Noel.

Noel may have more potential (?) but he has not done anything. He is almost completely untested. He played less than a year of college and he tore his ACL. While an ACL injury does not, on its own, end a career, it may indicate a predisposition to a certain type of injury.

For me, Otto Porter is a stud. He was good as a freshman and one of the best as a sophmore. He is able to do many things on the court and has a skill set that translates to the pro game. In addition, he has a great attitude and would fit the roster well.

I do realise Noel's skill set does suit the kings and he would compliment some of the other players well. But again- he is so young, he is not very experienced, and does not appear to be all that durable. Is it really worth it?

Lot of Oladipo love here. Have to say I'm on that boat. He's my favourite player in the draft, I think he's going to be better than projected.

He's the best interviewer of the class, too. He's very smart and has a huge work ethic. He'd bring a LOT of excitement back to the Kings due to his freak athleticism too which is needed in the first year under new ownership to spark things off. Even though he doesn't play a position of need, depending on where we're picking I'd be inclined to just take him and put 'Reke back to the point, which can work with a good coach. If we keep Smart, forget about winning no matter who we pick.

yeah, that was my assumption as well. especially considering that the BBL has roughly 30-40 televised games a year and Braunschweig didn't have a single one of those (i think).

I think Shabazz Muhammad is being overlooked by a lot of people coming into this draft.

Obviously it is hard at this point to make a lot of compelling arguments for him over some of the guys ranked ahead of him, but much like Harrison Barnes last year, or Jrue Holliday a few years back, sometimes people put a lot of weight into a player being mediocre in college and just overlook the fact that they are actually very good players.

But when so much stock is put into the one year of college, I think people tend to forget that theses kids have been evaluated since they were in junior high or earlier, and there was a reason that Shabazz has always been up near the top of the rankings. There is obviously a lot of talent there. I think, especially in this draft, that you are going to see a lot of busts taken before Shabazz, and some GM is going to be sitting there just out of the top ten and will end up looking like a genius for taking him.

With the right coaching, I think a backcourt of Evans and Oladipo would great. However, I would strongly prefer a point forward at SF if we are going to take this route. Iguodala would be a nice fit. Him and Evans could share ballhandling duties and run the offense. Not to mention the perimeter defense would be scary with those three. Evans, Oladipo, and Iguodala. Finally no more free trips to the basket.

If you could pull that off and get us Varejao, It would be hard to pass up. I like Noah a lot, but Varejao is a proven player. There are a few players that could help us down the road that we could pick with Clevelands second pick. Withey, Karasev, Saric, Bullock, Tony Mitchell, and Caldwell-Pope. However, if we have a chance to draft Otto Porter, then I'm not sure I would make that deal. I really love Porter, and he would solve our problem at SF. I think I'd have to put Oladipo in that same catagory.
