Only reason Petrie put the "kabosh" on Brown is because he is under contract with the Knicks and Petrie can't talk about him in any way shape or form potentially becoming our coach.
Francisco d'Anconia said:If you heard it live on the radio - the way he phrased it - it did not sound like Geoff was just being political or staying on the right side of the rules... but rather that the Kings do not want anything to do with Larry Brown.
Padrino said:i think you're probably dreaming there. petrie is petrie. if he was interested in larry brown regardless of brown's contract status in new york, he likely would have said something very vague, in the realm of "larry brown is a very good coach, but we're looking into a lot of different head coach prospects." to say that the kings have absolutely no interest in larry brown at this point in brown's career is pretty definitive, if you ask me.

Ryle said:It's pretty simple, He has to say the have absolutely no interest in him or the team gets a HUGE fine.

You birng in a guy like that to be a steward maybe, keep things orderly while you rebuild, maybe make the playoffs, in a really good year maybe sneak over the 50 win barrier, but if you are angling for a title in what universe has Silas proven he can get you there (let alone more than Adelman)?

One think I keep hearing on the radio is the King's are looking for a coach for THE LONG HAUL.
????? ... just exactly what are they saying .... ?????
The one BIG THING I like about Silas, he's not much for the spotlight, nor is he much on HAVING TO BE IN THE HEADLINES.
I followed his NBA playing-days and while watching him play ... the one word that comes to mind is EFFECTIVE.
I followed his SHORT coaching debut, and it was ALL POSITIVE. He never was really given much of a chance in Cleveland.
I don't see Paul Silas as hurting or slowing-down a franchise, but more "giving/putting/pointing that franchise in a positive direction".

Thats one of the reasons they got Artest they knew he would drae fans and media attention. They may get Dennis Rodman to coach us that way we are garunteed about 40 nationlly televised games.
