Well we now have a 17 man roster including Cassell. With 6 expiring contracts now. Is there another move for tomorrow or later tonight? If the Wiz are shopping their Pick because of money issues could we offer one of our 6 expirings? Alot could still happen between now and 3pm eastern tomorrow.

I think there might be something involving Beno and a couple of expirings to get a pick and an a contract that's not as long as Beno's.

we're probably going to wave Cassell and Douby from what I heard. I would rather have Geoff not make anymore trades if its going to be anything like the recent trades he made.

Well, we should have a pretty good sense of things by how the rest of the deadline shakes out. The Kings could now turn around and offer straight expirings and JT for Amare and they wouldn't be over the tax level next season. But I doubt there will be any payroll additions period. And yeah, I know Phoenix doesn't seem to be trading him anymore.

The deal is not official pending league approval. Then all the players involved have to pass physicals. Then the Kings and Bulls (plus Portland) can decide to accept results of the physical - meaning void deal in a worst case or accept results regardless. Gooden could go on IR and other players could go down to D-league. So this deal at this point is still pending and a lot is as they they say, up in the air.

I hope petrie can salvage a pick out of all the expiring contracts. However its basically been known that Cassell would be waived.

What next...

...the team sucks and we'll get the 4th pick in the draft and use it on Hasheem Thabeet who'll bust.

The Magoofs need to sell this team, PRONTO!

Our spiral has more to do with personnel mismanagement then anything else...it is more about Petrie, less about the Maloofs.

I don't think the rules will let us trade the newly acquired guys as part of a package deal for another 60 days. Can only do 1 on 1 trades with them, like the Diogu thing.

The players the Kings receive can only be traded by themselves till next year.

I meant more BJax/Mikki/JT, which would get us there. I think the holdup on the Kings end before was that having both Brad and Amare on the payroll next season would have put us over the tax level, but now that Brad's cleared for an expiring, essentially, it's more possible. But it depends on what Phoenix wants to do.

Oh I hope so, something, anything to pick my spirits up. This is so depressing.

Honestly what did you guys think we were going to get? We didn't want Miller
nobody did. In order to get somebody to take miller we had to offer salmons. Alot of ppl here really didn't want him around any more. We weren't going to get a top notch player for either of them. We got lots of expiring contracts which is what most of us wanted expecially the ones that think Hawes and Thompson are the future fontcourt and Kevin Martin is permenant. There where some that wanted Marbury to get rid of all of them.

Brad Miller aside, we actually somehow manged to acquire MORE competition for frontcourt minutes with basically 4 undersized PFs coming in. If I trusted Natt any more than I trust Petrie at this point this would not be an issue. But if our kids with talent actually start getting lost in the debris of this trade I am going to be more than a little put out.

I'll tell what's next - not the 2009 draft, but the 2010 draft. That's what's next. Because rest assured we're going to have a top 5 pick in that 2010 draft. The Maloofs will not spend money on a free agent. They are cash strapped. That leaves youngins and dregs for the 2009-2010 season. I hope there's a superstar or two in that 2010 draft because that's the only thing that is next for us.

Beno Just had one of his better games of the season.. aside from the last turnover at a very critical moment...... so hopefully some GMs were watchin!

Your reply is based on a false premise though since I'm not comparing the result of this trade vs. the result of a hypothetical trade, I'm comparing it to the result of not doing anything at all. I'd definitely prefer not doing anything at this deadline than this trade.

That was not an option. The Maloofs needed to cut spending.

that actually doesn't seem so bad to me. maybe nocioni is our mle solution so that we can move forward with what we've got and build exclusively through the draft. griffin this year gives us a beast of a 3 headed front court, and then we should still have a top 10 if not top 5 pick in 2010 to grab a pg and suddenly we have a stacked roster, noc and kt will be off the books and (presuming the maloofs somehow recover from madoff and the nba doesnt fold) extensions can go all around.

Ya, 2010 draft is supposedly the draft of the PG with rubio, holiday and kemba walker (holiday and walker will both get to run the point full time in college next year). There is also a high school kid that is supposed to be the next big thing - John Wall - who if he is what they say, should be coming out next year too, but I dont like to hype up high school guys until we see em play at the college level. Id like to think it wont be as weak of a draft as this year. At this point we need to try and be patient and let things just play out.

I really dont see us making much of a splash in FA this offseason, theres not a lot of young talent up for grab, and the Maloofs are not going to be looking to spend on much.

Not that I'm an expert on Wall, but he is a tall PG with alot of upside. Good size and ability. A bit weak, though. He is a good athlete. Poor mans Derrick Rose at the moment. I think he may let down a few people next year by not dominating (I could be way off here, just my gut feeling). I think he'll stay two years before declaring.
