Whatever it takes resign Mobley

Leads the league in steals....pretty good rebounder and assits man, 22/6/5 and 2.9 spg. 43% from the field which isnt that great but not bad.

i imagine his % would go up with Bibby and Peja around the horn leaving him with some open shots. I say lets do it. Hughes or Artest either one are the only 2 i would take for mobley.

Resign or Re-Sign.... which one was the question? lol
re-sign is what the thread is about

resign would be like Nelson in Dallas

I would love Artest but the guy has too much emotional problems

I understand looking at his past. But he could be over all that. Not to mention he and Brad were best buds in Indiana. The guy was absolutley going off before the incident in Detroit. I say give him a shot.

We should re-sign Mobley if we can cause he's a hell of a player. I'm not so sure he's the best player for this team, but I think we've got to give him more time to learn the offense before saying otherwise. Ultimately I suspect we'll want more size and defensive toughness at that position at the cost of Mobley's shooting touch. We've already got a shooter and Mobley seems to prefer playing one on one to moving the ball. (Which may just be because he isn't familiar enough with the offense or it may be because the new guys around him don't know the offense so they aren't cutting when they should - probably both) A lot of teams would love to have a guy like Mobley so we're better off trading him than letting him go. He's the one with the option though, so we'll have to see what he wants to do. The PF problem should be addressed first. Skinner is a great guy to have around, but he's not a longterm starter. I think we should take care of that in the offseason either through Free Agency or trades and let the SG spot play itself out next season. Maybe a midseason trade if someone is available. Teams with no chance to win may be looking to dump their big contract guys for expiring contracts. Or if we can't get a quality PF in the offseason, look to pick one up midseason.

PS - I'm down for any kind of Mobley-Artest swap. Get Indiana their shooter and us a defender.

hrd-they already have jackson, they really need a shooting 3 rather than an undersized 2...............but i'm pretty sure they don't want artest for much longer..........

Well I don't see Pacers giving up Artest in a deal that involves Mobley because they would really be trading down.

They would probably trade Artest for Peja but I am not sure that GP or Adelman would want to trade Peja.

The reality is that Kings probably need to keep Mobley for the time being even though he is not the best fit for this team. The other possiblity is a sign and trade deal involving Mobley for either a PF or another SG who would fit better into the system.

I have mixed feelings about Cat. Kind of disappointing really. Thing that I LOVE about him is his clutch shooting, and that's the thing that I hate to give up, if we do. Such a rare trait.

But he's undersized, a little soft, not much of a defender on most nights, and makes some dumb decisions. That makes him sound like an awful player, and clearly he is not. But those are the reasons I'm not really sold. A good OG in the league, but not a special one, and I think in the end probably imminently replaceable.

Consider what we decide to do with Cat a real direction-changing issue this summer. If we bring him back...and if Bibby (almost certainly) and Peja (still seems likely) are back, we're going to continue to have real softness issues in our backcourt/perimeter people. Not sure what you do then. Unless you sign Bill Russel as a free agent don't see how one PF can make up for 4 players at the other positions who would all be degrees of soft on defense/the glass. Doesn't mean that bringing Cat back would be a total disaster, but does mean that I just can't see how you can bring back Bibby and Cat and Peja and Brad and be taken seriously in the championship hunt. Need to do something to reinject some size/defense/athleticism to our lineup, and Cat would seem the most likely casualty of that quartet if we do.

The answer to that question is obvious, Brick:

Code:
Sacramento trades: SF Peja Stojakovic	(19.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.0 apg in 38.5 minutes)
Sacramento receives: SF Al Harrington	(17.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 3.2 apg in 39.2 minutes)
Change in team outlook: [COLOR=Red]-1.6 ppg[/COLOR], +3.0 rpg, and +1.2 apg.

Atlanta trades: SF Al Harrington	(17.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 3.2 apg in 39.2 minutes)

ugh... al harrington. i'm not sold on that guy... tweener but anyhow if you guys need a defensive sg why not get a 3 that can defend 2/3's? ak47 comes to mind also tayshaun prince. both of them are lengthy good speed not all offense but can put up #s if needed.

Sure, we'll just go get Ak47 or Tayshaun -- problem solved. :)

Ever heard the phrase "it takes two to tango?" ;)

P.S. Not really a Harrington fan either. Put him in that same Juwan Howard/Rahim class of non-impact tweener guys. Could help with the rebounding though.

Sactown, if we let him go we don't have Bird rules to sign anyone else, he is definitely the only guy on the radar. Well, unless we can get Corey Maggette, according to Hoopshype, 1 guy has to go next year, Brand or Maggette, I'm guessing it's Corey.

We DO have Bird rights to Songaila. Expect him to receive lots of offers around the MLE this year, so we will have to use our Bird rights to keep him.

Honestly I'm not sold on Mobley. He has hit some big shots for us no doubt, but in the dictionary if you look up streak shooter you will find Mobley's name. I've heard of streaky shooters but jesus, give me a break. The man turns on and off more than a light switch.

Evans has always proved himself when he starts. I think he gets lost in the mix sometimes coming off the bench. I'd rather let Mobley go and resign Evans. He's a good defender, energetic rebounder, he can shoot the long ball and drive.

I like Mobley but its all going to depend on what he wants money wise. If the price is right I don't see why the Kings wouldn't want to sign him. Of course this all depends on the direction Petrie wants to take this team.

I don't think Petrie brought Mobley here for filler. I think he brought him here to provide more spontaneous combustion on the court. I think he and Bibby are going to work very well together next year once they get to know each other better...

I think the trade was as much about Mobley than it was about unloading a guaranteed contract on a player that is breaking down. They called us, it was a great trade, but it fell in our lap. I don't think GP neccessarily was thinking this is DEFINITELY our future 2 guard.

next year is Mobley's option, so a more pertinant queston would be "who could the Kings get for the 2 guard if they can't keep Mobley?"

Sign and trade for Hughes would be the ideal, but of course it does take "two to tango" as has been stated. Only way that would happen if Hughes threatened to leave to NO or ATL, and Wash thinking Mobley would be better than nothing.

I've talked about this before, but the Kings really need to have their 2 and 4 guys be athletic defenders if we are building around Mike, Peja, and Brad. I like Mobley, but I dont think he's our ideal 2 guard. Again, it will be interesting to see what GP does this summer, he has tons of options. Mobley could be re-signed, simply let go, brought back as the 6th man and package Bobby with either Thomas or Corliss to get a stud PF or SG.

I like bobby coming off the bench more than mobley. The only question with bobby is his health. He has missed big portions of the last 3 seasons. If he were healthy though I would take him over mobley any day. Mobley is a slightly better offensive option, but bobby is not bad, plus he plays a lot better D and hustles after every loose ball. Mobley seems to be only concerned with the scoring aspect.

oh no bobby

im very worried about bobby
i think that a career ending injury happend to him but the sacramento staff are just hiding it
i mean if you look at the facts
he hasnt played at all this season
missed a huge part of last season
and they say hes going to be back in 6 weeks
after six weeks he gets injured again

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

uhmm he had surgery. and last season it was the abdominal strain. that's a tricky injury cause only the player can figure out if he's ready or not. and if you force the action, it may result in something worst (like a tear).

GP has said time and time again that he will pick up bobby's contract for next season. if it is a career ending injury, why would GP do that?
