Having the second best player in the league decide to abandon his team to go ring chasing with Dad Shoes, Ball Kicker, and Klay Thompson? So, so, so unfortunate.
And despite all that Finals experience he still can't get a HC gig on an NBA team. Says something doesn't it?

These things work in cycles. If the Warriors win the finals with Mike Brown at the helm, don't be surprised to hear his name start coming back up in head coaching searches.
Probably because he will be the flavor of the month, but it still doesn't disprove the Warriors aren't impacted by "tough breaks." Do you think Brown is on the same level as Kerr in regards to coaching ability?
The success of the Golden State Warriors without Steve Kerr does not appear to support the thesis of that rising to the level of "unfortunate circumstances." I mean, it's an unfortunate circumstance for Steve Kerr, but the way the Warriors have played the past two seasons, they probably could have made the Finals this year with a lawn ornament as a head coach.
Or maybe even Kenny Natt.

And the way the Warriors have played the past 2 years, they would have made it to the Finals with or without a healthy Leonard.
Steve Kerr is not a genius, nor is he a candidate for "coach sainthood," just because he figured out that Draymond Green is better than David Lee. That is essentially the sum total of his contribution to the Warriors success.
Completely wrong. They became much better of a passing team once Kerr arrived.
Now you may not like their offensive style, but Kerr implemented a system that suits the players perfectly.

Part of it, but not the complete story and not even close to it. Under Jackson, Warriors had used Curry primarily in iso-situations to break down the defense. Under Kerr, Warriors let other players initiate the offense and let Curry come off of screens from the weak side where he is deadly. There is no coach that can simply exchange 2 players and tell them "go win a title while I sit on the bench doing nothing." Being a great coach isn't merely about the X's and O's. It;s about cultivating a locker room environment where players are willing to put their egos aside and assume roles they normally wouldn't for the sake of the team.
I beg to differ, but it doesn't matter, either way. Even if I were to stipulate that Kerr deserves credit for Golden State's success (and I don't), whatever Kerr may have done for them during the 2014-15 season has proven to be self-sustaining at this point. His loss may have qualified as an "unfortunate circumstance" three years ago, but it didn't last year, and it doesn't now, and their record is the proof.

to their credit, the NBA playoffs haven't exactly been the most exciting sans the Wizards/Celtics series.
Yeah, fair enough.
Meh. I have been highly entertained by pretty much every playoff series this year that has not involved Boston or Golden State.
