webber's ovation

What a change. From the happy, webber, standing ovation. To the disgruntled, angry, furious, boo'ing for A.I. Don't blame the crowd though, A.I. played a great game against Kings, really gettin by alot of our guys and drawing fouls. But what I still appreciated most was the crowd when webber hit his first shot of the game.

yeah, that was a neat moment. I cheered loudly without even thinking about it and was surprised at how many people cheered.

Well I just got home from the game and I have to comment on a few things from the game and Chris.

The croud was great - much different and louder than most games.

When Chris came out it seemed like it lasted about 3 minutes, I would say it was at least 2 minutes and maybe more, the kings anouncers let it go on for a while before saying the next name and it still continued well after that - Not untill they announced AI did the cheers stop for chris and the booo's started for AI.

It was the greatest moment in Acro history for me personally, and I wanted the trade!

The Peja hug was a little off (sorry VF it was true)

Overall it was the best game I have been to for one exception - The Bibby 3 at the last second to WIN!!! That was by far the best to date for me....

It was great and I wish all of you could have been there....

Just got home and all I can say is WOW! The ovation for Webber was a fine example of Kings Fans class and love. EVERYONE was up and cheering (I swear even the folks in wheel chairs were out of their seats) The annoucer waited probably a full min before announcing the next player. I just got done watching the start of the tape and while I am sure it was NOT edited, it DID seem longer in person... as nice as the tv coverage was it in no way captured the emotion of that moment. Sniff.

Was fabulous!! The crowd would have gone on for 10 minutes if the announcer would have let them. ... They shouldve announced Webb last... The shmucks!

For those preoccupied with Peja and Webbs hug. aftr the game they both gave eachother 2 big hugs and a good sorta handshake. They wer bsin eahother on the plays where Peja went at Webb.

I saw the whole intro and ovation on sports news this morning. I thought it was very touching.....I think I would've cried like a baby if I was there in person.

It was a great moment. I to heard it on the radio first I starting crying in my car. Got home and watched the tape and cried again. It was so nice to see him smile and recognize that the fans really do love and miss him. It was not long enough for me. I wanted more, but it was a fine tribute. For me it was worse at the end of the game because that was it. He was gone.

Question for Whomever Knows ...

Was that Neil Diamond song played at ARCO or just on CSN ???

I hate to be a party-pooper, but, the song drowned-out the cheering that I really wanted to hear ... I turned-up my volume and everything ....

Bummed-out, in a way .... still glad that ARCO gave Chris the ovation, respect and WELCOME BACK he truly deserves !!!!

I liked what he said in the post-game interview about HAVING CLOSURE and now everyone can stop the player comparisons and get on with playin' ball.

Good Luck Chris !!!

I was at the game, everything here is pretty accurate. It is true the only reason the cheers stopped was because of AI's boo's. The cheering did carry over to the next couple players, the announcer was probably just told to move on, but the cheers were solely for Webber.

I have to add it was a great point in the game, just in case there was ever any controversy with Peja and Webber, when Peja drove straight into a lone Webber below the basket, took him out, scored the shot, and go the 3 point play. lol

VF21- What are you talking about? I just heared the introduction on the radio and it sounded more like a Kings player into than a visitors...

Only the "Chris Webber" was weak...

Either way it sure made my eyes water hearing the crowd's reaction. Very Classy Fans!

The Neil Diamond song was played at Arco, and I actually liked it. At Arco the cheers sounded much louder than the music, but my husband was watching on the TV & felt the same way you did. He said "you could barely hear it because the station played this loud music over everything"

Loved Webb's interview after the game, although it tore my heart out when he said "we could have had a great year". I know that Webb, for one, will always wonder what might have been this year.

What are YOU talking about? The PA announcer did not make the same announcement of Webber's name he used to make when Webb was a King, but that is so not the whole point anyway. It wasn't about the PA announcer. It was about the crowd.

And, for the record, if you heard it on the radio, it was DIFFERENT than what came across the TV. The stupid Neil Diamond song was turned WAY UP for the TV broadcast and the crowd turned down. Even so, it was pretty obvious that Arco was saluting one of their own - a true KING.

I was at the game and I also watched the replay when I got home. The TV did not do justice to the reception that Webb got. Traffic was horrible and I barely had time to get a beer before walking up to my seats. About halfway up they announced Webb's name and the place just erupted and it was LOUD. It continued until they announced AI and then everyone booed.......classic :D

Thanks Everyone ...

nice to hear the music wasn't as loud "LIVE AT ARCO" .... as it was on TV

sometimes the best thing for THE NETWORK/SOUND MEDIA to do, is NOTHING, let the cameras and mic's do all the work.

Just my flavor of ice cream ....
