Tonight's contest at The Palace in Auburn Hills could well feature the fat lady walking up the steps towards center stage as far as the Detroit Pistons hopes of repeating as NBA Champions are concerned.

So, in an effort to provide Kingsfans.com members with the latest and most reliable information available, I have asked my 8-ball about tonight's game:

1. (Asked for control purposes only) Is the game tonight being played at The Palace in Auburn Hills? MMMM...Yes!

2. Are the Detroit Pistons going to try harder in front of their home crowd? Far too early to say.

3. Will the home town fans motivate the team to do their best? Doing a jack on that one.

4. Is Larry Brown going to complain about officiating? No chance!

5. Is RIP Hamilton going to finally have a productive night? It is decidedly so.

6. Is Rasheed Wallace going to finally explode? Go for two!

7. Is Manu Ginobli going to have a good night? And chickens will rule the earth.

8. Is Tim Duncan going to pout at least once? No chance!

9. Is Gregg Popovich's complexion going to get even smoother? In time my friend.

10. Are the Pistons going to pull this game out and salvage a modicum of pride? MMMMM ... Yes!

There you have it. The OFFICIAL MAGIC 8-BALL Prediction!!!

:D

And yes, an 8-ball was used to determine the answers to the questions above.

Nope. Sorry. Not gonna "hope all of those are right." Quite frankly, I want to see the Spurs totally and completely obliterate the Pistons tonight...and Thursday.

You get that thing at the farmer's market?

Sorry. I just asked the questions and posted the results...

Believe me, it's not saying what I hoped for.

;)

I specifically asked for tonight's game... So we'll see what happens. What I thought was kinda interesting was that question #6 could be taken two entirely different ways and the answer came back "Go for two!"

:D

This must be some NEW FANDANGLED GENERATION X 8-ball ....

What on gawd's green earth is "Doing a jack on that one" ???

Actually, it's a revised version of the 8-ball and comes from the Scottish Cheddarheads, a British group patterned after the Green Bay Cheeseheads. The Cheddarheads religiously follow the Scottish Claymoors of the NFL Europe League. They describe themselves as:

For those of you who had not had the misfortune to stumble into our drunken paths, the Scottish Cheddarheads are essentially SHUGGIE and PRESTON - two over-committed diehard followers of the Scottish Claymores of the NFL Europe League.

We wear the Cheddarhead to honour the great Cheeseheads of Wisconsin, while using its tartan look to create a distinct image. We are the Road Warriors of the league - never missing an away game since our inception back in 1998. In fact, Shuggie has not missed a game home or away since 1996!

"Doing a jack" is slang. It means throwing one's hands up in the air to signify the person is claiming no responsibility for whatever unreasonable act may occur.

Named after Hall of Fame coach Jack Bicknell, who in a game in 1999, once threw up his hands in this very same fashion as the Fire scored an unnecessary TD in the closing seconds of a 59-14 romp!
...

...

You're welcome.

:D

So, fellow Kings fans, the 8-BALL RECORD so far is:
10 questions asked. 6 answers correct, 1 incorrect and 3 neither. Not bad.

Don't be so sure, BIC. You haven't seen the questions for game 4 yet.

Dont try to pull anything fishy here VF21. No trying to Jinx the Pistons and have your 8-ball give them a bad game. :) Be somewhat fair in your questioning.

BIC - Excuse me? I find the attack on my character insulting to the max.

Just wait and see those questions!!!

:D

In fact, I'll tell you what...

;)

You guys can feel free to submit some questions. I'll select the 10 I think are the most representative and ask the 8-ball. I reserve the right to substitute questions of my own if I feel so inclined.

If you're going to submit questions, you're going to be limited to one post of no more than 10 questions. Seriously. I'm still trying to wade through all the NBA shortest books titles to get them into a fair format for preliminary voting.

So, here's the deal:

Ask a question about Thursday's game that can be answered yes or no.

You must have read my mind VF I was going to ask if we could submit questions. Doesn't it only work if you're directly around the 8-ball?

Okay, here's one ...

Fact - for games 1 and 2, Ben Wallace had his hair in corn-rows. As a result, Detroit lost both of those games.

Fact - for game 3, Big Ben was full AFRO TO THE WIND and Detroit smoked the Spurs.

Here's my question ...

Does Big Ben's hair-do have anything to do with Detroit winning or losing ???

VF21 you should make it one question per person. Makes people think hard and its easier for you.

Here is mine:

Will the Detroit defense shut down Manu in game 4?

BIC - You want to make your questions particular to Game 4. And I have no problem with people putting in more than one, should they so choose. As I said, I'm going to pick which questions I think are most representative anyway.

:D

I'll follow the same procedures I did for Game 3.

Oops. Kinda forgot all about this while I was compiling all the Shortest Book titles.

Sorry.

Okay, here's the deal:

Give me your questions for game 6 and I promise to follow through with them.

:D
