There were two awesome articles in the Bee with excellent insights into two of our players on the team, Moore and Artest, both of which, I suggest to Geoff Petrie, to add them to the no-trade list that already has Martin.
These two men, Moore and Artest, have character, true character that has been tested in their own unique trials by fire in the lives that they have lived so far. To trade either or both of these guys would be an insane move. I don't know--and don't assume--that Petrie is actively considering the idea of trading them, or either of them; I would hope that he would not consider trading them because of the potential that they both have--both on the court and off the court.
I can relate to both of those men with the trials by fire that they have gone through, like I have in my own life for many years, starting with my wildfire-fighting that I started my working life with way back in the mid-70's, when I would lie about my age (I was a teen in the mid-70's) and join the forest fire fighters) and go fight the good fight.
Artest and Moore are likely to be highly productive on the court for the Kings in the next three years, this year included, as well as contribute significantly to the character, energy and synergy of the team, thanks to what they have gone through and how much they appreciate their being able to settle down in one good place and be productive in their own unique ways.
If Artest's on-court stubbornness can be successfully managed by Theus, I think that the Kings may be wise to keep him and pay him what he's worth after this year; if Artest continues his "hero" habit at the expense of team play on court through the rest of this season, then, ok, trade him.
This team has character, doesn't it? Me likey this!
