Two LARGEST banners to be hung in history of ARCO Arena: Sneak Peek

Anyone think Cousins won't be starting now?
Well, if you want to win games you still want the veteran to start. I guess if they aren't worried about making the playoffs or a good start then they will start him, but I seriously doubt that. I don't think they will start him for the first few games, unless he dominates in preseason play, but lets get real he is a rookie and then he is a big man, and we all know how long big men take...

And we know some develop quicker than others ... what are the odds of that? Certainly greater than the odds of getting what should be two of the best players at their respective positions in back to back drafts with the 4th and 5th pick.

This puts alot of pressure on Cousins.. Im fine with a poster of Tyreke as he has already proved his worth, and his game speaks for himself. I really hope DMC does well with us.

That would really make my year if he is ROY. If so it probably means we made the playoffs :).

While I agree with you that in general most big men take a little time to develop, there have been the special one's that came out of the gate at full speed. Shaq, Akeem, Duncan, Ewing, Jabar, Walton, Mourning, etc. Now I'm not saying that Cousins belongs in that elite group, but I'm not saying he doesn't either. Time will tell. Lets just say that he's not Brad Miller for now..... And for those that are easily confused, I mean that in a good way...

All of those guys were at least juniors in college before they came out though.

There have been so few great bigs to come into the NBA since the high schoolers and now frosh started dominating the draft, that its hard to draw any hard conclusions, but there might not have been a 19yr old big coming into the league who immediately started dominating since Moses, and that was only the ABA. And maybe we see why in exaggerated fashion with Cuz with his maturity and weight questions, potentially just not being far enough along in the growing up process yet to dominate. The special guys will stand out from a young age, show you flashes, but I'm not sure there is much precedent for even a special big at Cousins' age being ready to consistently dominate a league full of very large grown men.

I think the closest thing to a precedent for Cousins to do well in his rookie year would be Dwight Howard, who started off with 12/10/1.6blk in 32 minutes, starting all 82 games of his rookie year. 12/10 is astounding for a teenaged rookie, but not very remarkable as NBA centers go.

Greg Oden is an example of another possible parallel, but let's not go there. Or Andrew Bynum, who got a pathetic 2 & 2 as a rookie (and I'm rounding up!), but who improved quickly after that... when he wasn't injured. Worst case to best case outcomes for this sort of thing are a whole, huge range.

I'm expecting that he'll do okay and start some, but I don't expect him to tear up the league this year.

I have a feeling that the Maloof's and Petrie wants the face(s) of the franchise to be Cousins, and Evans.

And now?? Anyone?? Not starting??

Not starting... when? First game of the preseason? Last game of the preseason? First game of the season? Thanksgiving? Christmas?

I'm pretty sure he'll start some games in this calendar year, but I'm equally sure that he won't start all of them.

I'd have to say at the very least by the home opener, if not the first game of the year, and after that on a regular basis.

Completely agree. Have thought the same thing since draft day. This marketing of Tyreke and Cousins was obviously going to happen. Kings need fans in the seats. They will hype this young duo all year, this is just the begining.

No way Cousins doesn't start. I would be shocked if he isn't in the starting lineup come opening night. From a business perspective, it's not just about the product on the court, it's also about the excitement the team can generate. Having Cousins in the running for ROY, and marketing him as our future along with Tyreke, is something the Maloofs will take full advantage of.

Because 2 HUGE banners really matter? Am I the only one who sees through the BS? Instead of getting a new arena, we settle for HUGE banners. I'm sick and tired of how disgusting Arco Arena is compared to all the other Arenas around the league. Their scoreboard has 1980's written all over it, the signs along the walls that say "DEFENSE" etc. are SUPER TACKY and look like they're out of a junior high school gym, and I can't stand the way the seats at Arco don't even match the teams colors anymore. The box seats are crap, the suites are crap, but hey.... WE GOT SOME BIG BANNERS! It disgusts me to see that Entercom highschool or whatever it is down the street from Arco looks better than the place OUR CITIES NBA TEAM plays in.

I will not buy another ticket to a Kings game until they update their Arena, or DROP THEIR PRICES by 50%
Of course we go to see the Kings, no matter what the facility may look like...

But as an analogy, would you want to pay 80 grand for a Kia? Or would you demand that you drive a Mercedes if you're paying 80 grand? I'm just sayin......

See through the BS PEOPLE! Demand a new arena!
