Trouble in Portland...

It's not news that Roy is unhappy with Miller. However, reports are that he finally has reached an ultimatum with the situation. The blazers also have an unhappy Rudy, who is an explosive shooter/scorer. So...perhaps the kings could put together an offer for Rudy + Miller and go strong for those guys. I mean, anybody on the roster with the exception of Evans and possibly Cousins.

both are disgruntled.. will probably be disgruntled here also

Rudy >>> Both our young SFs.

I wonder if we could swing one over Portland's way

Edit: Why did I think Rudy was a SF?

Roy's legs are quite literally a ticking timebomb and Miller is another one of those players threatening to crumble into dust if they take too hard of a hit.

Rumor up here is they are more willing to part with Brandon Roy then Andre Miller......

Thats because Roy has chronicly bad knees, and doctors have said his problems are only going to get worse. Considering that he makes a lot of money, and according to the team doctors, has a dim future, its not a shock that they would love to find someone stupid enough to trade for him. It pains me to say all this because I love Brandon
Roy.

And possibly Cousins? Ya think?

Rudy's value is a late first round pick -- that has been the offers. He's flashy, can shoot a three, doesn't go inside, and couldn't stop me on a pickup court with his defense. He's also whiny and disgruntled and wants to run home to mommy in Europe.

Miller is 35 years old, can't shoot, and is failing to mesh with a player of Reke's ilk. He did better with another player of Reke's ilk in Iggy though. Either way his inability to hit a three after a dozen years in the league has made some offenses ugly.

Could you do it? Sure. Rudy as a SG next to Reke has possibilities. But you aren't going to be running aorund stripping out the franchise to get these guys.

Injuries have turned this promising team into a rebuild project. Remember when people though Oden & Roy were going to be co-mvp candidates on a championship team? I don't think the Kings want to gamble on 35 YO Miller or any player with chronic injuries.

Its too bad about the injuries. The Blazers appeared to be on their way.

Trouble in Portland? Friend...there's been trouble in that city for the past couple of decades. That team is so unlucky with injuries it's just unfortunate that all the talent they drafted in the past couple of drafts will go to waste without a championship or hell even a NBA Finals appearance.

There's not much for a franchise to "strip". Andre does only have a few years left in him, but then again it's not like Garcia or Beno are going to play better during those few years either.

Also, does it matter that Andre can't hit the 3? Neither can Reke, but I don't see people caring much about that because he can make up for it in other ways. And that's the point of getting Rudy too in the package. He can hit, and score when given some freedom. Getting both guys is something that can improve the team, even on a limited basis. Giving up Beno and Garcia isn't going to make this team crumble.

The point is simply Reke can't, and he's going to be there. So Andre can't be there next to him. 1 of those 2 guys has to be abel to hit them. Given Reke's to the basket game, it's probably even more important thathat other guard be abel to hit them to create spacing.

And a 35 year old makes no sense for us anyway unless he's an ending contract or something. Certianly it makes no sesne to give up any assets of note for a guy that old. He's not going to be part of anything.

Reke is surrounded by other guards, be it Beno, Garcia, etc who can shoot, and still nothing ever happens. So I don't know why you feel having Rudy next to him, with Miller off the bench is such a show stopper.

Who in theory can shoot. They have not. Its been a huge huge issue.

But I think Reke is struggling physically, otherwise he would be able to do more to overcome our lack of shooters. Nor should you think I am wed to the idea of shooters as theonly solution. I have some level of disdain for shooting as a primary skill. The ultimate fat guy on his driveway hoop skill. You need a few, but you don't win with them. You win with the guys with the other skills, and the shooters are just there to make it a little easier. But they DO have to make it easier than this. For everything else going on, our shooters inability to in fact shoot is unacceptable. Most shooters, including ours realy are not good enough overall basketball players once you take that shot away. If people are going to shoot 25% from three, better to put in a well rounded player who plays both ends of the court and can hit 25% than put in a defenively challenged guy who is supposed to be shooting 38% but just can't figure it out.

Maybe check the numbers before speaking. Garcia is shooting 37.5% from 3 this year. He was 39% last year at the end of the year. Casspi is shooting 40.4% this year after 36.9% last year. While Donte is down at 31% this year he was 37.7% last year. Beno is way down at 26.7% this year, but was 37.7% last year. As a team the Kings were 16th at 34.9% last year.

Those aren't horrible % from 3 point range. Shooting is not the teams problem, it's Evans problem. It's not going to get better till he admits his form stinks and needs it totally reworked. I expect it to take 3-4 years before its close to consistant.

To put it in comparison, the Lakers shot 34.1% from 3 and 45.7% from the field to the Kings 45.6%. Their highest regular 3pt % shooter was Artest at 35.5%, Fisher 34.8%, Kobe 32.9%.
