Ok, so I'm still finding the dozen or so artists sitting at the bottom of my list just not quite ready to be taken. But then I see this band and remember how they just happened to get big at the peak of my music listening. So I know a ton of their songs and several of them are tied to personal memories and such stuff. Plus they have the added benefit of bringing a different sound to my island. So in round 18 I pick...

Hootie and the Blowfish
Something that I could never in a million years fathom.Ha, had completely forgotten they even existed and yet its true they were SO big back in the day.
And see? All of a sudden I've turned into an anglophile:

The Cult
Now I’m down to some tough decisions. I missed out on the run on “hair bands”, but I also noted that my favorite band in (or at least near) the category got skipped over. I’m taking them now: Def Leppard.

I cut my teeth on these guys when I was a kid, but at the time, I didn’t quite realize how remarkable they were, particularly Hysteria, which charted 7 singles and stayed on the charts for three years. Along with The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Van Halen they are one of only five rock bands to have sold two “Diamond” studio albums (10,000,000 sales) in the U.S. So I now have three of those five bands on my island. And I’ve got some more solid rock and roll.
Years active: 1977-present
Catalog: 9 studio albums, 1 rarities compilation, 1 live album, 1 cover album (11h)
Landmark songs: Bringin’ On The Heartbreak, Photograph, Love Bites, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Let’s Get Rocked
Songs I keep coming back to:
Rod Stewart

Me too, very bass heavy. *ahem*Yeah. The "International Sound" of her songs is what I pay attention to as well...
So, when Dukeswh comes up again, having still not selected since timing out, do we just skip him?
Actually no, that would kind of be problematic -- be no way then for a skipped person to ever make there next pick on time.Yes.

On the other hand don't want to hold things up 24 hours for no reason.
Hmm...I have a solution! Dukes, get your *** back here!![]()
That is how I recalled the rule. Usually it was 3 picks.Seems like unnecessarily complicating the issue to look for a new solution. I thought it had become common practice in these things that someone who disappears keeps getting skipped until they come back, at which point they can submit makeup picks for however many turns they missed (or, if it's more than a couple, however many da commish is willing to accept). It don't make me no nevermind, of course, since I'm not in the draft, but it seems silly to punish everyone else just because one person went MIA.
