Yahoo sports reports:

"Jimmer Fredette shook fellow rookie Isaiah Thomas with a crossover dribble, spun back to his left and put up a pump fake that sent the defender tumbling to the ground. Fredette looked down at Thomas and swished a shot from above the free throw line that drew cheers from teammates.

Maybe the first time an NBA player got Jimmered.

Probably not the last."

Love it!

Fellow guard, Evans, revealed he looks to be a mentor to rookie Thomas – who had recently joined him for a 1 a.m. workout at Kings Practice Facility.

“I’m trying to take him under my wing,” Evans said. “I’ve known Isaiah for a long time. I’m going to try and show him the ropes. He’s a good guy.”

I don't know why but I'm starting to get a good feeling about this year

So, Cousins showed up noticeably thinner, good shape, and impressed many, from Westy, to Cisco, to Thornton, to of course, Voison.

Reke showed up out of shape, again, apparently. Westy said he could lose a few lbs. Guess there might have been truth to those reports from Givony. Not a good sign for Reke. I've been worried about his brothers and trainers for awhile, now. Still haven't seen him play, but it certainly not encouraging news that this is two straight years Reke shows up overweight.

Westphal also mentioned his "timing" was off; oh well; only day 1, as long as they go hard for the next couple of weeks they'll be ready.

I have to say that my favorite part of that Demarcus vid was the fact that Ailene apparently didn't get the joke and kept trying to interject herself into the conversation while he described his "offseason workout plan"

Petrie said Tyreke Evans is 12-13 pounds lighter this year to start training camp

No, no! He's fat! He's 20 pounds overweight and he'll be a complete failure, just like I predicted before the draft!

Oh, sorry. I forgot I'm not Jonathan Givony. Carry on.

Petrie also said Cousins is 10 pounds lighter than he was at the start of his first training camp.

Lol, you listened to Voison?

I figured she'd at the least, be able to tell if Reke was out of shape. She did watch the practice after all. Later on however, every single report from day one said Reke was in shape.

Damn Bee. Go figure. What the hell do they get paid for over there?

Guess not, but there's an interview with Salmons! He sounds dead as ever. Jimmer hands him a water bottle mid-interview and their interaction is so impersonal, but I still have hope.

You cannot be unaware of Voison's continuing bitterness over not being able to watch Rubio's rippling sinews up close and personal, can you?

There are certian voices you cannot trust when it comes to Tyreke. Hers is one of them.

So Evans is lighter than last year, but still overweight. Just shows how bad last year was. This doesn't bode well for Tyreke or the Kings. It's not like his season was shortened by all the playoff games he was in, and by an extended season this year. We have a shortened season, and he shows up fat. He's starting early with the Baron Davis routine.

Um, I think the 12-13 lbs lighter is more or less a refutation of Ailene's showed up fat claim, unless you think he weighed 250 last year during camp.

Given the long uncertain lockout with the whole season in jeopardy as recently as 3 weeks ago, there's going to be a lot of guys around the league who aren't going to be in the shape they were in late September when they were gearing up for a normal camp. If Reke's down 12-13 lbs from where he was last year, and Cousins is down 10 from where he was last year, those are very GOOD signs for the Kings given the circumstances.

Westphal said he (Tyreke) could lose a few lbs. Doesn't sound to me like his off-season was one of obsessive workouts. For a 10-year vet with a lot of built up cred, it might be acceptable. For a third year guy who has a lot to prove, it's not. It also gives some cause for concern about his off-season shooting regiment. Are we going to see that Las Vegas high-kick again this season?

Disagree. Offseason workouts are about timing and rhythm. The lockout messed all of that up. The fact that he's only a few pounds overweight (maybe 3-4 pounds) shows that he was still working hard into the time when training camp usually begins. This is a good thing.

Enough with the excuses. Did Kobe Bryant come into camp out of shape? Did Kevin Durant? Did Michael Westbrook? Did Ray Allen? Heck, did Jimmer come into camp out of shape? If this guy wants to be a star, and a leader, he shouldn't come into camp one OUNCE overweight. And the longer the offseason was, the more time he had to improve his game (shooting), so his shooting better be better.

The answer is who knows with the old vets who've been doing this for 15 years. Durant of course is just a tall version of the 90lb weakling who's face you kick sand in on the beach, so I don't even know if he can come in over weight.

Reke's a different body type. Beefy dude built much more like a normal human. As long as he's coming into camp within 10lbs of his target weight he's doing fine. He looked pretty lean back in those exhibition games this summer, but you aren't going to keep yourself pegged right at 222 or whatever for month after month when there is not even a guarantee you are going to be playing.

Out of shape =/= a few pounds overweight.

Tyreke is in fine shape. He could stand to lose A FEW pounds. You're acting like he came in Eddy Curry'ed.

And I guess you don't know much about the way offseason workouts work if you think this is a red flag.

When you can see a guy is out of shape in the NBA, then he is waaay out of shape. It's not like he's ordinary joe blow who's gained 7-8 lbs and needs to lay off the beer to look good. He's an NBA player playing of of the more demanding cardiovascular games on the planet. If he's not going to be a pretender, then he needs to take his work-out program a lot more seriously.
