Training camp

Westphal said he (Tyreke) could lose a few lbs. Doesn't sound to me like his off-season was one of obsessive workouts. For a 10-year vet with a lot of built up cred, it might be acceptable. For a third year guy who has a lot to prove, it's not. It also gives some cause for concern about his off-season shooting regiment. Are we going to see that Las Vegas high-kick again this season?

At 6'6" Evans can take a dump and lose those pounds you're crying about. And we don't really even know where he is weight wise as of right now. And we also don't know if his built has changed or not. Quit crying, dude.

Enough with the excuses. Did Kobe Bryant come into camp out of shape? Did Kevin Durant? Did Michael Westbrook? Did Ray Allen? Heck, did Jimmer come into camp out of shape? If this guy wants to be a star, and a leader, he shouldn't come into camp one OUNCE overweight. And the longer the offseason was, the more time he had to improve his game (shooting), so his shooting better be better.

One question: Who is this Michael Westbrook you speak of?

EDIT: Never mind, found him. Not so sure why we;re trying to figure out whether or not he's in shape though.

Best to assume he was referring to Russell Westbrook. Unless you're being sarcastic. In that case, carry on.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as he performs on the court then he can come into camp out of shape if he wants to. I'll leave my judgement at the door until I see if this affects his play or not.

When you can see a guy is out of shape in the NBA, then he is waaay out of shape. It's not like he's ordinary joe blow who's gained 7-8 lbs and needs to lay off the beer to look good. He's an NBA player playing of of the more demanding cardiovascular games on the planet. If he's not going to be a pretender, then he needs to take his work-out program a lot more seriously.

So far, your the only one saying that Evans is out of shape. Westphal never said that. In his first general statement when asked about the shape of the players, he said that he was surprised, and that everyone came into camp in better shape than he expected. He said that both Cousins and Tyreke looked good, but they weren't in game shape. He also said that no one is ever in game shape when they come into camp. The only other reference to Evans was the one where he said Evans was 12 or 13 pounds lighter than last year, but still could lose a few pounds.

Never once did he or anyone, other than Givony, who has a grudge against Tyreke, has said he was overweight. Frankly, I found most of the statements to be positive. So I don't understand all this negativity coming from you. Yes, last season he was overweight. And he's not the first player in NBA history to have very good first season and come in the next season overwieght. It appears to me as if he's learned his lesson. You can believe what you want, but to me right now, your appear to be very extreme to the point of circling the wagons to defend a position that doesn't seem logical.

That's because Westfail is more in love with Evans than anyone on this board. He never says Evans does anything wrong !

This seems like the best place to put these:

Nice putback dunk by Hickson (also good block by Whiteside):

Here's one of a scrimmage. Not much worth noting, think Tyreke airballs an open mid-range shot somewhere in there.
