I will say this outside of Embiid I don't see anybody that greatly improves our current team. Now you take Rudy Gay out of the equation then you have to look at wiggins/Parker
Wiggins will instantly become Kings' best perimeter defender, plus he gets to the line a lot, can bring the same element of high-flight finishes, that Ben and Derrick showed this season. At the very least take Derrick Williams and change him to an above average defender. I think having that player off the bench would help Kings a lot.

I have learned my lesson in these high expectations of rookies.

He was that good of a defender in college. And if you temper rookie expectations, Embiid doesn't improve this team greatly either. He just sky-rockets team talent.

Embiid is an area of need. Unless Rudy leaves wiggins is not needed at this point in time
One interesting thing about Wiggins is that he's really skinny. I'm not sure I like him as a SF, at least not as his age. Looks physically wussy. Could easily be a swingman with that athleticism rather than pure 3. Doesn't really have a McGrady build to bulk up with either.

The thing about Wiggins though...he's Wiggins. Much hyped, been analyzed heavily since high school. That gives you more confidence. But man if we aren't talking about another hyper athletic, mentally passive (I HATE passive in potential stars) skinny wing player from exactly the same school as we got our last one...I am admittedly biased. Fool me once, your fault. Fool me a second time.. (or a THIRD with yet another hyperathletic wasted nobody in TRob from the same school -- some college coaches and their systems just suck for the NBA by masking their players' true NBA abilities -- I don't trust Self at this point as far as I can throw him.

Forget Derrick Williams.
That fool needs to be traded for a D & 3 guard + late first round draft pick (possibly an early second round draft pick)

I don't know if you watched the last few games of Wiggins in college but he was extremely aggressive and was at the line way more than at the start of the season. I have no doubt that this kid will become a star. The question is: How long will it take him to get to the top?
I'm thinking 2-3 seasons. However, that's about when Cousins' contract expires.

What school is Embiid from again?

I watched the last game Wiggins played, and he was passive, physically outmatched by Josh Huestis at the 3, and almost a non-factor out there.

Admittedly a small sample, though ;)

Believe me, I'm aware.

However Embiid falls into a different category. Like Drummond, you can look through the poor college choice to see the big man skills underneath.
My fear is being so loaded in the front court. Would PDA take Embiid even if available? Especially given our lack of depth in the backcourt.

Never say never!

First try and got this..

And I just SMH each time someone posts one of these. As if it means ANYTHING what a draft machine spits out. That's like thinking you rolling a 1 on a 1d20 at home on Tuesday in Sacramento has anything at all to do with a similar roll on a friend's 1d20 on Friday in NYC.

Sorry, non-mod fan rant over. Just silly. I know you (collective "you" not you Gary) are bored in TDOS but this stuff is as ridiculous to me as the draft threads in December.

That might be the reason to look at Huestis. At this point I would wait for Draft Combine, where we will get a look at how prospects look physically after going through professional training for 1,5 months, though schools like Kansas, Duke or Kentucky certainly have near pro level facilities and staff.

My post was a response to other posts stating that these threads are dumb because we could never get a top 3 pick. My whole response was just a "never say never" type post, that's it. The screenshot was nothing to be taken seriously. It was never meant as something that people should use as some kind of barometer as to where we will pick or where I think we will pick. Personally, I have us at 7. Right where we're supposed to be.

And no, if I see black being hit on a roulette table 10x in a row I am not one of those people that think red will hit next. I know it's a 47.37% chance each spin and previous spins mean nothing.

Ah, sorry, didn't get that from your post. Those things just irk me any time I see them, no matter the reason. ;)

Way to jinx it!

...Luckily I have reverse jinxed it by calling you out on the jinx. But having admitted that, I may have jinxed my reverse jinx.

Quick, somebody reverse jinx my unjinx jinx!
I Jinx Everything you just said

Last year I decided to not watch the lottery to change it up. The lottery is honestly one of the most agonizing things I've ever had to watch. Not watching it actually made me feel better and hey, we stayed put last year. I think I'm going to not watch it again haha. Too much stress, at least Cleveland won't win it again though (I hope). Dan Gilbert is a moron

We actually dropped down a slot, going from 6 to 7. Since 2008, we have pretty much always dropped. And since we've been in the lottery, we have never moved up. I'm not going to watch it this year either and just hope to be excited that our luck will change.

2009 - #1 to 4
2010 - ##3 to 5
2011 - #5 to 7
2012 - #5 to 5
2013 - #6 to 7

I am not watching either. If we pick 7th though we will still get a decent prospect, but it's a shot in the dark instead of a pretty much sure thing if you had a top 3 (Parker/Embiid/Wiggins)

Thanks for the reminder of our recent past.

But ... jinx or no jinx, watch or don't watch, I hope we're not done with this thread today. Wink, cross fingers, spit in your mitt, salt over shoulder, or pick your own .... whatever works.

I put on my lucky boxers which I haven't washed since 7th grade. You wouldn't want to sit in the same room as me, but these bad boys bring some serious luck.

I found a website with live streaming of ESPN. I've never watched a lottery, so it's a first time for me. Let's hope tonight it's a first time for the Kings too. We finally need and deserve some luck!

Starting to get nervous. The number we get tonight will define our entire off season. I'm hoping for some Chicago bulls sort of luck.
The number we get won't just define this season but the next 10 years. I've said it before and I'll say it again if we get Embiid and he becomes even half what I think he can we will win a championships this decade.

It will take more than Embiid, but I like the way you think.

I don't think the number we get tonight defines anything. It'll be better to get 7 than 8, our most likely results, and results we'll move forward with. If my crossed fingers get us a higher pict, that's good but not quite as important as indicated above. We've got maybe 15/16ths of our team right now. This one bod won't make us or break us. Just a little perspective.
