Unlike you, I don’t require validation in the form of having others on my side. That’s not how arguments are won or lost. It isn’t majority rules. Debating from that angle is just a form of argumentum ad populum. Arguments stand or fall based on their own merit, not having others agree with them.

Obviously you didn’t watch the finals. If you had, you’d have seen that Bosh kept the Heat in some of those games. If they didn’t have Bosh, they may have gotten swept. Bosh was the one Heat player who showed up in every game. What you’re doing is pointless anyways though because single players don’t win championships, teams do. You might as well argue that J.J Barea is more valuable than Bosh because he helped the Mavericks win.

OK, goob, see if you can follow along here. A, I never said a better SF couldn’t be gotten in FA. My point was that you take Jefferson because of Parker. It’s a package deal and Parker is what makes it worthwhile. That Jefferson plays the SF is just a convenient bonus.

B, since you seem to have a crystal ball, who are these point guards that are going to “fit in better”? Jimmer? Walker? We don’t even know if the Kings will draft them and they’ve yet to play a single minute of NBA basketball so spare me the idea that somehow you can magically divine who will fit better at this point.

PG and SF. What are Parker and Jefferson? PG and SF. Do I really need to spell it out anymore clearly than that?

It's telling that you think i care what others think of my posts. I'm not out to win any popularity contests and the approval of others is something I neither seek nor require. But having said that, it's not as if there aren't folks out there who agree with me on this. There are, you must have blinders on if you haven't seen them. Read Tom Ziller's take on it. Where did I say i expected them to do it? I pretty much know they won't do it. It's just what i think they should do if they're serious about getting their team back to relevance. That they won't do it is part or why I've bashed them.

I don't think Jefferson lost any athleticism or got older. Spurs wanted him to play D and just spot up for the corner 3 ala Bruce Bowen. Which he was not able to do consistently. I don't think the Spurs played or used him that much because of there system or style of play and was ineffective during the playoffs at most. I do remember him jamming a lot of alley-oops from Parker when they run that play for Jefferson during the regular season, so his hops still there. Parker and Jefferson plugs some of our needs right now and could bring us back in the playoffs. Veteran experience mixed with our young talent would be good and we might be able to surprise a lot of people next season. If Dalembert and Cousins play there potential (not get in foul trouble a lot) i think the Kings can be very very good, also Dalembert has proven he can defend the quick PFs (Dirk stopper anyone? has the longer length and speed) and is the best compliment (except maybe for Chandler) for Cousins if we put him at the 4 spot. I still am having a hard time how Evans can play off Parker, so guessing would be the same as we played Udrih and Evans last season only Parker is a lot better than Udrih at penetrating opposing defense. If this trade does go through and keep both Thornton and Dalember, i'd be more excited for next season! Come on now, 2 big front line with Dalembert and Cousins, outside scoring/drives from J and quick potent backcourt with Evans/Parker.

I don't think Bosh is as soft or as one dimensional as Martin. I see Bosh as the type of player that doesn't wow you in any one area but has a solid all around game. Can shoot well, has a good FG%, good FT%, can pass well, is an adequate re-bounder, and probably a better defender than he gets credit for.

I'd still do this if:
1) Iggy trade was not possible
2) They take back Beno and Garcia. I wouldn't eat all that RJ/Parker salary without sending something back. No other team can even compete with that offer so if they don't like it - they can stuff it. We would only have 9M or so more in salary than we already do so could easily sign Dally, Thornton, and JT next year.

Like someone else said, the Parker/RJ contracts end before Cousins is extended so it should not conflict.

This is one of the few trades that have a good chance to put us back in the playoffs this year.

If the Kings won't do this because of RJ's contract then that's a legit reason. Hearing that they won't do this because of Parker's contract is really worrisome. There is some worry that Parker relies heavily on his speed and may fall off fast, but he can still run a team and is the best PG available via FA or trade right now, and addresses the team's biggest weakness. A weakness they've had for four years? Four bad, lottery years. So, along comes a championship all-star PG for a #7 pick and you worry about his contract? This contract isn't even Arenas bad. It's just typical for a player that has done what he's done.

Iggy with a similar contract to Parker would become our best wing defender and yes...he in fact does make an offense run considering he averaged over 6 assists this year. So defense, ball movement, and veteran leadership in a position of need that is only 27. Oh the horror!

I'd take that over Parker any day but haven't heard one word about us being connected to dealing him.

Parker for 7th..just do it! Where else can you get a deal like this? Aren't you tired of waiting? If Evans and Cousins stay healthy and improve Kings will be scary and you still have Thornton coming off the bench for added scoring. Lakers and Mavs will think twice playing the Kings with our size and speed. We'll be as good as the Memphis if not better if Kings improve defensively as well and will be able to compete night in night out with any other team. We might be even better than the Spurs by then. Now your plugging smaller holes, say bench depth and that added energy guy. Championship team, maybe not but now you know you have at least a chance in the playoffs. Just ask Dallas, they weren't even in the discussion for the championship this year but they had the chance.

Or, we could draft at #7 and hope to get a good talent, and wait for sign a big name star to come over to bring us to then next level (ie. Divac,CWebb, Bibby). Another way is just go with the motion and be in the lottery again for next years stronger draft class.

Iggy doesn't have to run the offense, but he can be a major facilitator. So can Tyreke. So can Cousins. Hell...even Thornton and Dally showed themselves to be better passers than expected near the end of the year. The system would be more about ball movement and multiple ball handlers than one shrimpy fast guy setting 4 other guys up to finish.

True, but he was asked to run the offense quite a bit last year, and the ball was in his hands to help create for others a lot more than prior years. Philly was a tough out towards the end of the year. So the assist numbers aren't artificially high - he was, at times, the straw that stirred the drink. He certainly won't play that role here, but we also won't have to worry about him being a black hole on offense.

I'm largely in the same boat. However, I think you'll still need a guard who is pretty consistent from the outside and can create for others as well, (like drafting Jimmer). There should always be someone on the floor who can hit an open three - it doesn't give the opposing defense a chance to rest.

I think we can target some elite SFs through a trade since we'll have the cap space to bring someone in. I don't know about drafting a SF because I don't see any of them as "Day 1 Ready". There are good players, sure, but I don't know if the FO or the fans have the patience to wait for them to develop.
